Whippoorwill is a young male human who is a supporting character in How to Train Your Wings of Fire 3, an upcoming How to Train Your Dragon and Wings of Fire crossover and threequel to How to Train Your Wings of Fire, written by HTTYDPokemonFan under the username ReptileGirl497 on Fanfiction.net[1]. He is kept as a pet by Braconid.
Appearance[]
Whippoorwill has short, orange-brown hair and tan skin. He wears a torn outfit that is a little too small for him.
Personality[]
Whippoorwill is usually a calm and patient individual, but can become impulsive whenever he's in a tough spot. He is often quiet, and rarely complains.
Biography[]
Pre-Series[]
Whippoorwill lived in a small village near The Abyss, along with his parents, Raven, and the brothers Mole and Vole. However, during his childhood, a patrol of HiveWings passed by under orders from Queen Wasp to locate and kill any LeafWings that might still be alive. Upon finding the village, the dragons rooted through it, eating several humans, including Whippoorwill's parents, and taking others for the queen to snack on herself.
The young Whippoorwill managed to flee towards Cicada Hive, where he met a young HiveWing dragonet named Braconid, who took him home. After relentless pleading, Braconid was allowed to keep the human child as a pet, which soon became troublesome due to Whippoorwill's crippling fear of dragons. Braconid kept Whippoorwill in a cage for the sake of his safety and fed him nuts and berries every day, slowly gaining the young human's trust. They were able to communicate each other's names using pictures in one of Braconid's books, with Whippoorwill pointing to a whippoorwill bird and Braconid pointing at a braconid wasp.
Over the years, Whippoorwill managed to learn how to speak some of the Dragon language from Braconid, and he in turn taught the dragonet how to speak Human.

Braconid[]
Whippoorwill was initially afraid of Braconid, because he was a dragon. However, years later, he has become fascinated with the HiveWing, as much as, if not more than, Braconid is fascinated by him. They have gained a mutual trust of each other, and Whippoorwill has learned a few simple words in the Dragon language thanks to Braconid.
Raven[]
Raven was Whippoorwill's best friend before their home was destroyed by a HiveWing patrol. He suspects she may have had a crush on him, but he only likes her as a friend.
