History[]
Dragonethood[]
- Born alongside three other dragonets in the Collective RainWing Nursery
- They're raised together by a caretaker
- dragonets yet to be name Venom and Monstera are soon mocked for their oddly big spikes and plain scales respectively
- Monstera beats up the bullies
- Venom complements Monstera's uniquely hexagonal scales
- Monstera who only beat up the bullies for her own sake tentatively takes the complement from the other dragonet
- All the bullies are friends, so Monstera and Venom are forced to stay together to avoid getting jumped
- They eventually become friends
- Monstera takes the name Monstera because of Venom's offhand comment on how her hexagonal scales are similar to the beautiful monstera plant's fruit
- Monstera tells Venom that he has to stand up for himself more
- Venom decides to take the name venom for a nerdy reason, venom is super cool, the way is selectively interacts with organic material is cool! (Monstera says it's cool and fierce, then she finds out the original reasons and called him a nerd)
- Rest of their dragonethood is just them two running around the rainforest with zero adult supervision (as is natural for RainWing society) playing hide and seek, tag, looking at cool plants, rocks, bugs, and doing whatever weird experiments Venom comes up with.
- Occasionally the pair with go off to MudWing territory to get cool foreign kingdom things (to them), like scrolls, carvings, paintings, swords, etc..., (they actually have a self-made tree house where they both live for all this stuff!) and even make a friend with a similarly nerdy war orphaned MudWing dragonet named Ibis.
- It is occasionally interspersed with adults commenting on Venom's weirdness and general neglect lmao
Arrival of the NightWings[]
- Initially Venom is wary of the new odd dark dragons, dragons have gone missing, including his best friend, but after showing off his scientific expertise, they're much more friendly, so Venom comes to the conclusion they must be like-minded dragons interested in the secrets of the natural world, so automatic friends!
- Venom asks if they know what's up with the missing dragons, and the dark dragons tell him they don't know, but they're willing to help Venom look if he helps them with this science project they need help with.
- Venom happily agrees (he's naive, not stupid, he's a teen at this point with only social interactions with his fellow tribemates who're mostly chill, unambitious, and self-centered, and occasional interactions with MudWings who're just aggressive)
- Eventually Monstera will see Venom collaborating with the NightWings and experimenting with venom. This causes her to snap since she had been stuck in a heatstroke inducing rock prison full of smoke being tortured. (She was the most aggressive RainWing and one of the first to be taken and they needed to know how RainWing venom worked, so she was a venom test-subject, resulting in the holes of her wings, she didn't cope well and ended up carving in more holes to try to make her wings symmetrical again-she deliriously thought from sickness and infection, how fitting it was, since her name was Monstera and monstera plants have holes similar to the wounds she was giving herself)
- She escaped along with others as in canon, and she told the other RainWings of his unwitting treachery resulting in Venom being chased out of the Rainforest. She's part of this chase, it's very violent and she ends up getting one good bite in that permanently puts a kink in the tip of Venom's tail making it crooked.
Aftermath[]
- Venom is trying to survive, he's currently in the desert and eventually tumbles into the Scorpion den. In exchange for water he offers his venom to some shady SandWing.
- Eventually gets roped into being a metallurgy apprentice for SandWing blacksmith, Monolithic while he's looking for a permanent job now thatt he's been exiled. He gets the job since he can double as a guard (RainWing venom is no joke, many dragons soon become 'in-the-know' as to how it can disfigure a dragon after Queen Scarlet's injury)
- Venom has the chance to demonstrate his genius by improving several designs of Monolithic. This endears Monolithic to him, they become tentative friends.
- competing blacksmith sends assassin after Venom, Venom kills him by locking him in the forge, assassin is burned to death. The outclaws of the Den are now both impressed and wary.
- Venom gets a a mad scientist reputation
- Venom cultivates it in order to both protect himself and to cope with the loss of his entire world (his best friend, his home, his reputation, his childhood innocence, his collection of toys, knickknacks, and experiments)
- t.b.c
Relationships[]
Monstera - negative/positive[]
They were originally inseparable best friends before the NightWings came. Monstera, a hot headed but kindhearted RainWing, protected Venom from bullies, and Venom showed Monstera the wonders of science and the natural world. Venom appreciated how Monstera always listened to his rambling, actively engaged him in conversation, and appreciated the same wonders he found in the simplest aspects of the natural world. This all changed once the NightWings came, ever since Monstera, caged and stuck in a volcano, saw Venom discussing aspects of RainWing biology, both strengths and weaknesses, with the Night dragons who tormented and experimented on her, she snapped. After that, Monstera revealed his unwitting treachery to the other RainWings, and Venom was chased from the Rainforest. While Venom felt guilty after seeing the harm Monstera went though, he can't help but hate her too. He never got a chance to explain his side of the story, and since his exile, his desperation to survive in a war torn Pyrrhia has pushed him to do things he'd rather not admit to. Now he finds Monstera's pursuit of him for his crimes both vindicating yet maddening.
