- VampyrusWings afflicted by Bloodlust Syndrome (your character must have a decent backstory or at least context in order to exist in society, as it is believed that there can only be one Bloodluster at a time);
- Animus VampyrusWings (the animus gene has not been passed to the tribe, therefore your character will not be canon);
- Dragons (of any tribe) infected by a Bloodluster VampyrusWing (you must at least describe in which circumstance the character was infected);

- Overpowered hybrid/animus VampyrusWings;
Occupying the alpine peaks dividing Pyrrhia, VampyrusWings (also known as BatWings) are a reclusive tribe infamous for their aggressive reputation and literal thirst for blood.
Few brave souls have lived to speak of encountering a member of this predatory tribe in their territory - and fewer still escape with their lifeblood still flowing.
Thus the VampyrusWings have been painted as a legend, as much feared as they are unknown, preying at dawn under moonlight's glow. Their reputation has led to rumors of a tribe best left undisturbed in the shadows of their territory.
The VampyrusWing's physique is reminiscent of IceWings’ - sleekly muscled and lightweight for swift movement. Skin is concealed into the fur manes draping their necks. The fur is close-cropped where it borders their sides, softening to billow behind in a downing sail on the back and underbelly.
Large eyes like molten amber gleam in the shadows, and yet it is the VampyrusWing's hearing that defines the tribe. Broad, triangular ears that differ from dragon to dragon in size are perched atop their skulls and can detect the slightest rustlings from vast distances.
Perhaps their most distinctive features are the formidable fangs that protrude even when mouths are closed, with razor-sharp edges capable of puncturing through flesh with ease and a flat, leaf-shaped nose. Even at rest, the fangs cannot be fully sheathed or hidden by lips. Their tips remain visible, a constant reminder to all who encounter these dragons of their vicious nature.
The finger bones of VampyrusWings are reminiscent of those of bats and much more flexible than those of most other tribes, thus making them more maneuverable and dexterous in flight as well.
Similar to bats is also their roosting habit, permitted by the specialized tendons that make it possible for them to hang upside down.
Females tend to have thinner coats and longer, more pronounced ears with additional frills flaring proudly from their tips. In contrast, average males usually develop shaggier manes around their necks and lack the females' ear tip frills.
Coloring[]
The coats of VampyrusWings trend towards shadowy hues that aid their nocturnal prowess. Grays, earthy browns, and deep ebony dominate. Some lean darker still, as jet as the tree trunks in the night. Meanwhile, a select few develop lighter coats of ash or snow, a perfect camouflage upon the mountain peaks' drifts.
A VampyrusWing's pigmentation may evolve across their life. In rare cases, coats may shift dramatically - from raven to the palest peach. Markings, if any, also may vary between individuals, such as bands encircling the torso or a single stripe spanning the neck.
Their eyes commonly come in amber, tan or dark brown colors, leaning more uncommonly in hues such as green, blue, light grey or even red.VampyrusWings share a number of qualities with common vampire bats, one of which is one of their most distinctive characteristics: their diet.
They feed primarily on the blood of animals (and occasionally make victims to those dragons who wander too far into VampyrusWing territory) thanks to the great protruding canines that come to their aid on such occasions. However, it should be noted that despite their preference for blood they are omnivorous and are therefore able to properly digest other foods that do not include blood, such as fruit and vegetables.
They prey mainly on mammalians of diverse size, leaving their victims nearly drained of blood, if not completely. These are boars, mooses and wolves. Dragonets are generally encouraged to hunt smaller prey, such as squirrels and foxes. VampyrusWings are surprisingly picky with the type of blood they hunt for, defining scavenger, fish and rat blood as "filthy" or "foul".
Over time, their territory has begun to run out of prey, pushing them to hunt at the edge of the territorial borders and sometimes even beyond.
Each VampyrusWing is defined by the mutation they exhibit since birth, influenced only by the amount of blood received from their mother during pregnancy. The more sustenance provided, the more pronounced the potential mutations.
Thanks to mutations, from extra limbs to enhanced senses, it is unlikely to find two alike dragons of the same species. Mutations are divided in physical and capability.
VampyrusWings can have a total of 4 mutations.
Mutations that fall into the "physical" category alter only the dragon's appearance and do not provide any additional abilities.
VampyrusWings with reversed gender dimorphism possess physical characteristics of the opposite gender. For example, a male born with reversed gender dysmorphism will develop characteristics such as ear tip frills and overall less fur, while a female will be the exact opposite.
Considered unusual by the VampyrusWings themselves, additional pairs of wings is an uncommon mutation that most often develops in those dragons that possess more than one mutation. Dragons born with this characteristic can develop up to 3 additional pairs of wings.
Additional fur is quite common among VampyrusWings and is characterized by the accelerated and uncontrollable growth of fur around the body, thus making affected dragons seem larger and velvety. VampyrusWings affected by this particular mutation also showed a greatly accelerated growth spurt towards the end of dragonethood.
VampyrusWings born with mutations that fall into the category of "capabilities" are gifted with unusual abilities not found in the common folk. The effectiveness or strength of these abilities can vary from dragon to dragon and sometimes come with alterations in appearance and instinct.
Batspeak allows certain VampyrusWings to communicate ultrasonically with bats. Through high-pitched calls, they can summon swarms of bats to their location for aid. It is comparable to leafspeak, except VampyrusWings use sound instead.
Thermal vision is perhaps one of the most remarkable mutations a dragon can develop. VampyrusWings with thermal vision are, as the name of the mutation suggests, heat-sensitive and have a specialized system for detecting infrared radiation.
Echolocation is most often accompanied by batspeak. VampyrusWings gifted with Echolocation possess distinctive traits that aid their mutation, such as the broad, round ears used to better catch faint echoes and shortened snouts which leave room for specialized sinus cavities. Through a rapid series of clicks, burst-pulsed sounds and whistles they emit high-frequency soundwaves which bounce back encoded with spatial information.
Special mutations[]
Bloodlust syndrome[1][]
Bloodlust Syndrome, also known as Misaunter’s curse, falls in the categories of both “capability” and “physical” mutations considering it alters both the appearance of the afflicted dragon and their additional abilities.
This peculiar mutation is characterized by its apparent absence in early age. In fact, it does not begin to show until the end of the adolescent period, in which the affected subject gradually begins to feel a stronger impulse to consume more and more blood and exclusively that. Many of the initial symptoms belonging to this mutation can be compared to those of rabies.
"01/04/5008: Subject displayed normal development until 6 years of age, when increased craving for blood was reported.Bloodlust Syndrome development, extract from Dr. Mastiga's notes
05/04/5008: Regular blood consumption failed to satisfy increasingly growing appetites. Adrenaline spiked as starvation-like symptoms set in. Photosensitivity and lethargy during the day concurrently emerged, limiting activities to nighttime hours.
