Fern the WindWing[]
Appearance []
Fern is a WindWing GaleRoyal. She has magenta-pink feathers and scales, and is described as very pretty. Being the daughter of past queen Queen Meada, she has the signiature royal ruff. She has beautiful blue eyes but otherwise has no other colors on her body.
Personality[]
Fern is a very kind dragon. She never was jealous of Fireblossom's natural leading abilities, and Starflower's great powers. Fern was, however, slightly jealous of the way her mother reallly never cared about her, doting on Starflower, Fireblossom, and new brother Skystrike. Despite this, she never complained to her mother, and never took it out on her sisters. Instead, she dedicated herself to being the best mother possible to Nightsong. Loving Sparrowhawk, her husband, and taking care of even those who tried to hurt her, she is recognized today as a GaleRoyal (the most important royals in history) who tried her best to make the world a better place.
Background Information[]
Fern, a Fluxer, or Parrot-type, was hatched as a WindWing princess in a time of destruction, when the WindWings first hid in present-day the Poison Jungle, Pantala. Her mother, young queen Meada, and father, the late king Oren. Oren died shortly after her hatching, Meada mourning, but not mourning a lot, much due to the unbearable arranged marriage with him. A couple years later, she married Runeseeker, the abused NightWing animus who had wished his way to 'a place where he would be truly happy', of whom she had fallen in love with when she was young. As the LeafWings, seeing them as needing the trees also, convinced many others to try and wipe out the WindWings, they went into hiding. Runeseeker had used his powers to protect them from mindreading and future flasher, leading to the older Clearsight declaring the jungle evil and mysterious. He also told them that for as far as one hundred years into the future, the WindWings would be in terrible trouble of extinction, as the LeafWings would never get along with them. At the end of her crowning ceremony as Queen, Fern managed to wrangle the WTTAM members (WindWings to Take Animus Magic) and place them into a prison jail. Her mother's advisor what help her with all the important desicions due to Fern's extremely young age. (Age 4) Shortly after that, Runeseeker and Meada's egg hatched, the first Finders, Owl-type twins Fireblossom and Starflower.
Years later, (Age 9) when Starflower and Fireblossom were 5, Fireblossom, as the new queen, decided that Fern should attempt to visit Phyrria and learn all about their cultures and ideas. Both dragonets, Starflower and Fireblossom, were wise beyond their years and extremely kind. Starflower had inherited much of her father's qualities, as well as his animus powers and ability to see the future, which they callled Starsight. Preparing for the trip, Fern bade her family and kingdom farewell, and soared away with Starflower's enchanted map.
As Fern arrived on Phyrria's coast, a terrible storm shook the land and the enchanted map that showed Fern the way was lost. Getting into the NightWing kingdom, Fern ate special berries that contained a terrible toxin. However, her jungle life had prepared her immune system for this, and nothing bad happened to her. The berries turned her scales darker and blacker, allowing her to pass as a NightWing if she greased down her feathers. Taking up the name Storyteller, Fern told vivid stories of the other tribes on Pantala and entertained many of the NightWings. Later, though, Fern began to realize the growing hostileness of the other NightWings towards her, as well as the large suspicion, and flew away to the rainforest. Meeting a friendly dragonet, Fern was directed to the Sky Kingdom.
Stealing food as she refused to eat birds due to the WindWing belief that birds our ancestors reincarnated, Fern finally was caught by dragon Sparrowhawk. Eventually falling in love, the two bore two eggs (at the same time due to the weird WindWing genes and SkyWing genes) but only one hatched for them. The other, resmebling a SkyWing egg, was presumed dead, and left in the bushes with a wooden plaque that said: Crimson. That egg hatched late and was taken in by the SkyWing queen, who renamed her Amber. The other dragonet lived there with Fern and Sparrowhawk as Nightsong, resembling a NightWing-SkyWing hybrid. With Fern revealing her true identity to the queen and Sparrowhawk, she was allowed to stay from the many things she had contributed to the SkyWing kingdom. Flying back home, with a SeaWing friend, who had helped her find the map, she was hailed as a hero and greeted with delight by her family.
