Heyo! As the title says, I need some help with a character.
I'm currently working on a new IceWing for a contest, and his concept is basically an animus who took justice too far and lost his soul. After planning it for a while, I stepped back and realized that it was kind of... cliche? Do you have any suggestions on how to avoid that?
I know there's almost nothing on his page, so it's fine if you can't help me ;P
Cliché can be sometimes used really well, if you add a lot of detail into it! Im not sure how much you have planned on him, but Id say add more details so that its a unique case of “Cliché but done pretty well.” Is there an antagonist that Pluto is currently facing (ex. Himself; society; etc.)? Is he just a vigilante in general?
It's still kind of hazy, but I'm thinking that his family died in the plague Darkstalker sent, and he was seriously weakened but still survived. The grief and his newfound hatred towards NightWings led to him punishing criminals more and more severely using his magic, until he ordered a death penalty towards a common cat burglar and he was kicked off the team.
Great backstory!! I really like how his past wasnt too tragic at first, and that his parents fled instead of being killed. His animus powers being discovered was an interesting part — glad that no dragon was killed along the way! I really like his backstory
