the SCIENCE OF THE DRAGON TRIBES[]

Please DO NOT EDIT UNLESS GIVEN PERMISSION BY THE OWNER OF THIS DOCUMENT. While I was editing, someone decided to edit, and I had to go back and look into edit history to find what I'd written, and lost a bunch of stuff in the process. If you wanna ask me something DO IT ON MY MESSAGE WALL!!!!!!!!! (please?)

Every one of the Ten official Dragon Tribes have science behind their abilities. Have you ever wondered how NightWings are affected by the moon, or why they stay up at night? How about how IceWings don't melt or how RainWings change color? Well here are your answers (not cannon tho!), so have a look into my wildly twisted world, and the science behind the ten dragon tribes.

Minerals and other scientific terms will be used, coming from latin words that became scientific terms.

Animus Magic:[]

Animi work in strange ways. Their power comes from a rare flower called Rosa luna animus, or animus moon rose in modern dialect. During the Scorching, certain groups of dragons believed that animus moon roses were cursed and thus they started uprooting the rare flower. But certain dragons, who were in starvation, found out that the flower was edible, resorting to eating it in mass amounts to quell their hunger. Their dragonets, though, were hatched with an unusual ability: the ability to make anything do anything. They began making the world less hard to survive in and helped others in need, but, overtime, this knowledge was lost, and the flower was driven to extinction. Perhaps remnants of this flower still exist, but, as of yet, they have not been used in their powerful ways, instead being lost to dragon knowledge for the rest of time. The origins of the flower come from a type of Moonrock called Protentia-Pareidolia Luna, otherwise known as the Moonstone of Power. Similarly to Skyfire [see: Skyfire], it fell from one of the moons and crashed into several types of flowers several millennia before dragons and humans even existed. the radiation was so intense that some of the stones' powers leaked into roses, causing the Animus Moon Rose to form.

The Animus power itself comes from the ability to further tap into the manipulation of cell particles. This manipulation allows the user to change the buildup of said object, sort of like tampering with DNA (and the Animus magic is built into their DNA, specifically the DNA that controls brain functions). This manipulation is centered around different chemicals the "Animus Brain" now releases when ordering their "magic" to do something. These chemicals are the foundation of all things created, therefore reinforcing the ability. When speaking a spell, dragons release these chemicals more easily, because they can travel on voice vibrations. Typically, these DNA subtypes come from a certain chemical within the Animus Moon Rose, a chemical without much of a name.

NightWings[]

NightWing Abilities and Powers:[]

Every NightWing has the opportunity to develop special powers that come from the moon. As to why the moon gives them these powers... you're about to find out. NightWings have a special type of mineral within their blood, which some of the first NightWings breathed in after parts of one of their moons fell just before the Scorching. This mineral is drawn towards a type of mineral in the moons, which results in powers being formed. Sunlight reflecting off the moons burns different types of rocks. Light reflecting off the moons and bouncing on others causes overflow of burning minerals, causing more acids to push through the "mineral-blood". Each moon has two types of minerals, Prae-Pareidolia Luna, and Cerebrate-Pareidolia Luna, otherwise known as the Future-Stone and the Mind-Stone. When the sunlight reflects off these stones, they produce toxins that are absorbed into the mineral-blood eggs. When only one moon is being reflected on, only one side of the moon is being hit, and each side is covered by a certain type of mineral, either the Future-Stone or the Mind-Stone, causing only one power to be manifested. When the second moon is lit, the light from the moon is reflected onto the first, causing -- no matter which side is hit first or if two of the same minerals are hit immediately -- both powers to be manifested. With the third moon, more mineral toxins are being released, causing even more powerful effects.

Now the science behind what those toxins do... that's what I'm about to show you. Those toxins spread throughout the egg, and each toxin releases a type of magical serum that infuses the mind-wave signals. For example, telepaths' minds branch out over every brainwave, getting the signals of other dragons' thoughts, whereas seers can look at any atom, and see into the future, tracing the paths that will eventually branch, causing an enhancement in neuro-paths within their brain.

Also, they generate fire using ignition stone-glands. When they click together, they heat up, burning up and out of fire-resistant insides. These glands are well-protected and pressurized according to body temperature and are used when a dragon breathes in, causing their glands to oxygenate, thus creating a spark and igniting. After, their fire pressurizes according to body mass and exits the body via fire-resistant tunnels within the mouth and nostrils. They are located in the upper-back corners of the throat, where no other forms can reach to break the glands, and just above the tubes used to eat and digest prey and water. Because oxygen is necessary for this process, they cannot breathe fire underwater. If they are a hybrid, their fire ability underwater only goes as far as heating and evaporating the water around them.

NightWing Adaptations:[]

Similar to the way they get their powers, NightWings are drawn to the moon because of their "mineral-blood", hence causing them to enjoy the night rather than the day. Although, it is only when their egg has been laid in semi-moonlight, or even just night air, that makes them want to stare up at the night sky. Their scales match their surroundings to protect them from other dragons, and, during the Scorching, humans, too. In that way, they blend into the night. They also have semi-Night-seeing capabilities, as they are able to somewhat see in the dark. Their silver scales help angle light off them, and their strong build helps them fend off against predators, and easily defeat prey.

NightWing Upbringing and Growth:[]

1-2 YRS:[]

NightWings begin their life hatching from their egg, their scales smooth and large, about the size of an adult dragon. At this age, they begin a process called ecdysis, in which they begin to shed some of their scales to make room for more body mass and more scales, so that, by the time they're full grown, they will have the perfect amount of scales. Their horns, like a mix between bones and exoskeletons, form using calcification, a process in which bones of small animals digestible by dragons or milk, blood, or mineral substances mix and form more bone tissue that leads to stronger bone health. Dragonets' horns are small and shiny, and are kept that way due to the smooth texture of the horns. Dragonet teeth also undergo this process, getting bigger instead of falling out, and their snout elongates and widens to fit rows of teeth. Their small point that connects their nostrils to their sharp upper lip also widens a bit, fitting perfectly over to serve as another form of "tooth", in a way. Dragonets' wings also get strengthened by usage, but they have to be properly fed to get maximum wing membrane health and thus make their travels easier to endure. Their claws become sharper overtime, by use, and they undergo the calcification process as well, but do not get longer. They remain in check with bodily proportions.

IceWings:[]

IceWing Abilities:[]

− IceWings generate frostbreath based on body temperature and frozen-glands generated on the upper-back corners of the throat, similarly to other fire-breathing dragons, instead with frostbreath. IceWings' bodies are naturally cold, made from near-ice [read further to see], and usually generate lots of frost from the inside. Their water storage mostly comes from drinking water or prey, so it easily becomes cold inside the IceWings' bodies.

RainWings:[]

Invisibility:[]

RainWings' ability to adapt to their environment comes from a special series of mirrors within their scales. These mirrors memorize the signals light sends to their smaller glands and send that information to the brain, which then sends that information to their emotional sector. Each varying emotion releases chemicals, and smaller branches of those chemicals can be concentrated into changing the internal skin of the dragon to match its surroundings. The mirror-like properties of each scale enables light to refract in different directions, creating the illusion of there being nothing there from all angles.

Emotion-related color changing:[]

Emotion-related color changing is pretty much the same as the environmental adaptation, except that the brain sends chemicals to the skin to change colors, and the skin shines through each scale. This action is a bit like blushing, except that blushing is a rush of blood to the face, and this is more 'a rush of emotion-enduced chemicals.'

The reason behind RainWings turning white when in shock or pain stems from the lack of emotions felt when they are in that state. Their emotional sectors are cut off; they're in too much shock or pain to think at the moment. Their colors turn off to preserve energy and they enter a trance-like state, but only in dire instances.

Skyfire[]

Skyfire is a rare stone that came from an asteroid in the Pyrrhia-Pantala solar system that crashed in roughly 5012 AS. It was made of a rock known as Anti-Reader, which causes the crash of Mindreaders' abilities [see: NightWings]. This is caused by interfering with the neutronic waves coming from the emotions, words, and pictures that chemical toxins in one's brain generates.
