Appearance

Terracotta is a large dark brown SandWing with a rather strange patterns on his wings. His underbelly is a lighter shade of brown while his barn and horns are a darker brown, almost the shade of dark oakwood. His wings and sail are a dirty red. Terracotta’s eyes are a dark, nearly black brown.

Dusty would be the main thing to describe Terracotta as even when he was squeaky clean his scales appeared to still be dirty. His scales are frosted over with a dark brown as though they were glass. His wing patterns are dusty and look like the golden sand itself was flung at his wings.

Personality

Terracotta is considered to be 'kind of sort of' better than his adoptive father, Raccoon. Terracotta is more considerate of other dragons and prefers to try and solve things as quickly and painlessly as possible, both for himself and everybody around him. Terracotta is more than likely the one to object to Raccoon's more dangerous plans, especially the more explosive ones.

However, this does not mean he doesn't like being more into the more... Devious side of things. He's down to sell illegal items in Scorpion Den and fake jewelry if it means he can get the money to help him and Raccoon get by.

Terracotta is quite soft-spoken and not quite confrontational, but Raccoon is slowly helping him get out of his shell more and more. Despite this, Terracotta inherited his adoptive father's charisma and uses it to help him sell gems and jewels. He is also noted to act more mature for his age, acting more responsible than even twenty year old dragons.

Terracotta also loves his adoptive father dearly, considering him his actual dad. Raccoon has helped shape Terracotta into who he was and helped him when he was in a great time of need, which caused them to bond more and more as the years went on and on.

History

Terracotta was hatched to a poor family in Scorpion Den. It was during the time of the War of SandWing Succession, so he wasn't a part of the only family struggling financially. The poor SandWing's family wasn't also the most loved, being the sixth kid out out of a family of eight. He wasn't supposed to exist. He, like the other kids, weren't supposed to be alive. They were, as Terracotta's father Bronze would say, 'accidents'. Terracotta's parents were swindlers, they would threaten dragons with their barbed tails until they gave over food and drinks for them to indulge in, only feeding their own children the scraps if they were lucky.

Because of these unfortunate circumstances, Terracotta's very early childhood wasn't the best. He wasn't hurt like his siblings, but he watched as his parents fought with each other and their kids. Terracotta learned very on that keeping his mouth shut and away from everything that he'll be safe. But even Terracotta knew that this isn't what he wanted. It wasn't the family he even wanted. And that is why when he was just a few months old,

He ran away.

It wasn't even a planned escape. He didn't know where he would run, but he just wanted to run and hide. He wanted to get away. He saw his chance when his parents were out to 'teach' some of his older siblings how to 'do the family business' and took off. The small SandWing ran and ran, never once looking back. He never wanted to go back to that horrid house ever again. Terracotta wandered the sandy wasteland for days on end until finally, seemingly a gift from the spirits themselves, he found hope.

A small little scavenger.

The small thing looked almost like the adults, but we still a juvenile. Nonetheless, Terracotta saw that it had water and food on it and decided not to attack. The scavenger, despite seemingly knowing the danger than came from a dragon half the size of him, didn't run away. It still seemed scared, but it helped Terracotta. The small thing was alone and looked starved, so even if Terracotta wanted to eat him it wouldn't be that filling. Terracotta originally planned to stay with the scavenger for a night, but as the morning came Terracotta couldn't find himself able to go on. This scavenger that he had just met, while coming from the same species as the one who caused the war to happen in the first place, had shown him seemingly genuine kindness.

So he stayed. The dragonet watched as the scavenger built a fire and a bed for them, but he was still on edge about it all. Eventually, sleep overwhelmed Terracotta as he walked over to his small bed and fell asleep, only to wake up to the sound of meat cooking. The scavenger seemingly had gotten food for the both of them, which puzzled Terracotta. Why would this scavenger be so nice to a dragon, especially one like him? He was probably a free meal if he had the strength to kill him, so why was this creature wasting its energy by hunting food for him?

It confused him, more than anything.

After a couple weeks the scavenger began to mimic the words that Terracotta would mumble to himself, slowly becoming more and more clear. The scavenger was able to speak his language after a bit. After a while, Terracotta was allowed to come on the scavengers hunts. On one of these hunts they found a raccoon. Instead of instantly killing it, the scavenger pointed to himself and the raccoon, whom was just sitting and staring at them. Terracotta repeated the word 'raccoon' to the scavenger before finally the scavenger spoke in dragon.

"Me Raccoon."

Finally, he knew this scavenger's name. They hunted down the raccoon and ate it, Terracotta feeling more happy and proud in his life. Months passed like this where Raccoon and Terracotta would hunt and return to their campsite on the base of the mountain range, slowly and surely learning more and more about each other's languages.

Years began to pass and Terracotta grew more and more. His memories of before he met Raccoon were faint, but still lingered in his mind. He felt much happier with Raccoon and more safe with him than anything else. Occasionally Raccoon and Terracotta would go to Scorpion Den, where Terracotta would sell jewelry that they would find from ransacking nearby scavenger ruins. The both of them live quite happily, though Raccoon seems to get more and more... Different as Terracotta ages.

Trivia

  • The Vultures were almost entirely based on the song 'Tweeter and the Monkey Man'
  • Raccoon and Terracotta got the name 'The Vultures' from taking jewelry from ruins
  • Terracotta was described to be a 'handsome young lad' when he was a dragonet, mostly by Raccoon

Quote "It's going to be fine..."

Appearance

Raccoon is described as being a rather tall and lanky human, being generally considered to be not well kept nor very approachable. Despite being not very muscular physically strong, he has a sort of feeling to him; one where when you look at him you just know he's up to something. Raccoon has dark brown skin due to being out in the sun for most of his life and a lump of dark curly and unkempt hair that nearly goes down to his shoulders. His eyes are green like slightly overripe grapes.

Raccoon wears a light yellow shirt with little weight to it and darker blue pants. He wears a gold ring on his left hand that has a giant emerald in it the same colour as his eyes. His shoes are practically destroyed from the many years of wearing them, but they're still somehow intact even though they look like their about to just fall apart.

Raccoon's hands are very dry and cracked from the lack of water, feeling as though you're touching sand if you ever decide to touch them. He has very dirty clothes.

Personality

Raccoon acts pretty much exactly as sleazy as he looks. The little scavenger is greedy, enjoys attention, and is pretty unlikeable. He was a con man back when he used to like in the Indestructible City and would relish in what scraps of money he could make off of unsuspecting 'fools' as he calls them. He doesn't care who he hurts in his schemes, except for Terracotta of course.

Raccoon doesn't regard for anybody (except Terracotta's) safety and is willing to set fire to the entire world if it meant that he could get his way. He's incredibly stubborn and usually has a one concern at a time, that being Terracotta's survival most of the time. Raccoon has little regard for his own safety and is willing to even take a hit for Terracotta.

The scavenger is untrustworthy, yet strangely charismatic. He's a terrible person, no doubt about it, but he's oddly likeable. He uses this charm mostly as a way to swindle Terracotta and himself out of the danger they usually find themselves with in Scorpion Den.

However, though all of this mess of a man, Raccoon really does love Terracotta. He raised the dragon after all, how could he not form a bond with him? He enjoys their adventures and crimes together and often times acts like a dad trying to coax their kid to going with them to fish at a lake, but instead it's to threaten to burn down a scavenger settlement to get their money.

History

Raccoon never had it lucky growing up. If anything, it seemed as though whatever god is out there had it out for him. His parents, Wolf and Golden, passed away at an early age and was practically forced onto the streets of his home town, the Indestructible City. Raccoon was sort of known at this point for being a bit of a problematic child, being one who would run around and hide things that didn't belong to him constantly. But Raccoon was clearly broken by the loss of his parents and his newfound place on the streets due to not being able to pay for the house.

He lived like this for five years, slowly learning his new surroundings. He learned from other people how to swindle others for a quick buck and got pretty good at it too. His personality and general looks turned more shady and untrustworthy as his general look and speech patterns could either mean he genuinely cares about you or wants to take advantage of you.

One day, Raccoon got a little cocky. Just before he turned sixteen, he tried to pull off a 'small' heist on one of the vendors on Freeway Lane. It was a armory, supposedly selling 'real genuine dragonscale armor'. Raccoon didn't exactly buy it, but knew that if he had got some he could get the money to get out of the city. Unfortunately, his plan didn't go quite as well as he would've hoped. He tripped an alarm when trying to go for a breastplate, causing the local guards to arrest him.

Raccoon was found guilty of attempted robbery and multiple other smaller crimes (mostly ripping off people and petty thievery) and was banished from the Indestructible City. The teenager was violently tossed through the gates and before he knew it, the doors were locked.

He was free.

It was a horrible moment of betrayal on his end, but it finally gave something to Raccoon. He was free from the city. He could do anything. But still, the event stung him brutally. He hated how such a small thing could get you tossed out of a city and left to rot in the wild. He hated the place, yes, but he knew even that was unfair. He had saw his other fellow acquaintances be tossed out for even worse reasons (like simply spitting at a guard), all Raccoon did was cover up his tracks well.

He knew what he had to do. He wanted to destroy the Indestructible City. That horrific place was nothing but a nightmare for the lower class, who worked day and night just to have barely enough to support themselves while the Lord sat pretty in his palace acting as though nothing is wrong.

The question was, how?

It didn't quite come to Raccoon yet. All he had to focus on now was getting food and shelter. The scavenger wandered the empty planes just between the dangerous rainforest and the marshes before coming across the mountains. He knew Valor could be a place to crash for a bit, perhaps even get some people on his side, so he started to make his way over towards the underground city. It took days, but Raccoon scaled the mountains. Narrowly dodging dragons and scavenging on whatever he could. He was making his way down and...

He was lost.

Raccoon had climbed one of the further mountains from Valor, or at least where he thought Valor would be. It was beginning to seem as though he wasn't going to make it. Raccoon was loosing hope of every finding safety or getting his precious payback. That was until after a couple of hours of wandering through the scalding desert...

He found a small scorpion dragonet.

Raccoon was scared. This was the first time he had ever came face-to-face with a dragon, and it just so happened to be the one with a deadly barb tail. But still he could almost... Sense something in the dragonet. The poor thing was just as hungry and scared as he was. Raccoon then got an idea.

What if he could turn this dragon into the perfect killing machine?

It was a messed up and disturbed idea, but Raccoon couple help himself. He could take advantage of the small thing and finally have his revenge. Racoon set up a small camp while the dragon watched, barring his fangs at him. Raccoon made a small fire and a bed for the dragonet. The two creatures, all without words, had convinced themselves not to kill the other.

It was practically a miracle that Raccoon woke up without any sort of wounds on himself. He got up and began to hunt for food to try and gain the trust of the dragonet, but something in him made him feel off about it. He didn't know why, but whenever he looked at the small brown scorpion dragon he couldn't picture it tearing down massive cities.

After a few weeks of living together, Raccoon began to mimic the squeaks that Terracotta made out of pure boredom. Then another idea stuck him; learning the language of dragons. Dragons weren't stupid, weeks of living with a dragon could tell you that much, and Racoon needed to know how to understand them for his plan to work. The scavenger made more and more of an effort to understand the language and even teach the dragonet his own language. Eventually the dragon seemed to learn his name and soon after, the dragonet spoke it's first words.

"Friend."

Friend... It was a strange thing to be his first words. As months turned to a year, Raccoon began to soften up a bit. The dragon, which he now knows as 'Terracotta', didn't really seem like the fighting type. The dragon was curious, yet very chaotic. He was more cautious than Raccoon, but just as interested in explosives and violence. He was much more soft spoken, but he just had that charm that Raccoon had. Raccoon felt as though he needed to protect Terracotta more than anything, especially right now. He was just still a dragonet, a baby. He wanted to preserve the innocence of the dragon, something that was torn from Terracotta at a young age.

And so, the lies begin.

Raccoon would just tell Terracotta that everything was fine and never really told anything about his past to try and keep him happy. As the years passed by, Raccoon felt like a father to Terracotta. However, despite this bond Raccoon did want his revenge back on the Indestructible City. He wished to liberate the people and maybe form a city of his own where there's no real rules and dragons and scavengers could co-exist. Though, Raccoon wants to wait until he turns ten to fully tell him his plan, for now he's just got all of the time to prepare and plan. They occasionally go over to Scorpion Den to sell stuff, though it's mostly for Raccoon to try and get Terracotta used around other dragons.
