Chapter 3[]

"Should I get everyone else?" Clay asked. Starflight nodded.

Clay walked down the halls, stomping down his anticipation and trying to act calm, like the big brother he was supposed to be.

He found everyone else in the sleeping cave, talking to each other. Tsunami was already with Sunny, trying to explain the plan. He walked over and spoke up.

"We're leaving. Follow me, i'll explain when we get there."

Obviously intrigued, the others, including Crust, followed him to Starflight by the entrance where Morrowseer used to be. Starflight looked towards Clay, "I have to go speak with Morrowseer. You explain. After we talk, Morrowseer will leave and then come back in two days."

"What's going on?" Phoenix asked.

"Let me explain. Tsunami's going through the underwater tunnels. It should lead her out of here. Sunny, you have to fit your head through the hole in the roof of the Study Cave and send up a fire signal. Tsunami should open up the cave from the outside, since we can't do it from here."

Sunny looked excited, Ash looked mildly happy, Phoenix looked like she just drank three mugs of beer, and Crust looked unsure.

"We have to wait for Morrowseer to leave, though," Clay added quickly. They nodded.

After a while, Starflight came back, his face wrinkled in anger.

"That lying, no good, smoke-breathing fraud.." He spat under his breath.

"What? Fraud?" Clay asked. "Nothing," Starflight responded.

"Should I go then?" Tsunami asked, indicating to the river.

"Wait. Let me explain how you get in from the outside.." While Starflight did that, Clay went over to talk to his cousin.

"This is a bad idea, guys.." He muttered, looking concerned.

"Nonsense; Starflight thinks it's okay, and has he ever been wrong before? He has those cool nightwing powers!" Sunny responded.

Crust snorted, and that was the end of that conversation. Tsunami and Starflight finished talking. Tsunami waved, and slipped into the river, her blue scales evaporating into it.

Clay tapped his claws on the cold stone. It had been about an hour, and he and the others were getting anxious. Surely one of the guardians would notice Tsunami missing, or all of them surrounding the entrance?

Suddenly, there was a roar from outside. Starflight gasped, "Oh no," The cave door opened. Tsunami came in. Except something wasn't right.

Tsunami looked beaten up, bleeding in a couple of places. Suddenly, a somewhat-short orange dragoness came in, followed by multiple red/gold/orange dragons. She had rubies embedded into her brows, and a golden chainmail vest. She let out a hiss of amusement.

"What is this?" She asked. "A secret gang of dragonets underneath a mountain? A seawing, a mudwing, a sandwing-looking lizard, two skywings, and a- a nightwing?" she let out a bark of a laugh. "Oh, this is going to be fun."

Starflight and Crust automatically sunk down in a bow. Clay, confused, tried to do the same. Sunny did it too. Ash looked like he was in a fairy tale, and Phoenix was too rebellious to do anything.

"W-who are you?" Clay asked. Starflight and Tsunami both let out a groan.

"First this seawing attacks me, now people suddenly don't know me? Oh, what a day. Well, you can call me Scarlet. Queen Scarlet," she hissed.

Dune came into the room. He let out a surprised roar, blasting fire across the halls. Kestrel and Hvitur came out. Kestrel sucked in a breath.

"Oh, Kestrel! This is where you've been hiding all these years? This will be good fun indeed," Scarlet proclaimed.

"You'll never take these dragonets!" Dune bellowed. "You'll have to get through me first."

"Oh, I was planning to." She replied calmly. She flicked her tail, and two burly skywing guards attacked Dune, slicing his throat.

"No!" Sunny cried. Clay would've put his wings around her, tried to protect her, if he wasn't in such a shock.

Hvitur hissed. Unfortunately, no frost breath came out of his jaws. He had forgotten the time he lost his frost breath, fighting Burn and the two sandwing guards. He jumped onto one of the skywings, slicing its throat, and bit the other's shoulder. However, he was soon overthrowed.

Webs had finally come. Upon seeing everything, he immediately slipped into the river. Gee, thanks, Clay thought.

Kestrel attacked another, but she, too, was quickly overwhelmed.

"Well, we have what we need. Let's go." Scarlet said. Clay suddenly realized what she meant.

She was taking them to the Sky Kingdom.
