An ex-vagabond, Raccoon travelled the world arm in arm with their brothers, collecting odd jobs to get by until the next town they found. One faithful day where the family they depended on for so long was lost.
A street rat, prowling the moonlit streets of Possibility, mooching off of their kind, frequently-absent friend. Lying in wait, distracting themself with honorary siblings and fleeting crushes, in the hopes that their brothers finally appear. Or they finally move on. Whichever comes first.

Appearance[]

Raccoon is a remarkable...y unusual hybrid. They claim to be a MudWing, first and foremost, with their obvious shades of brown and bulk. However, they're a mess of genes and heritage, and they look half MudWing and half dog, if anything. Their face is round and doggish, completed with a sweet wet nose and a floppy pair of ears. Their whole head is framed with a poofy white main flowing down their shoulders - something they often dye if finding the right materials. Amongst the fluff are the round, velvety start of a pair of deer or moose-like antlers, purple in hue and obnoxiously harmless.

On the front half of their body, they have thicker, blocker front arms. Their hind legs are much thinner and lithe, each talon tipped with soft paws. Their tail, rather than thin, elegant, and lizard-like, is clunky and thick, curling - unlike a RainWing's - but like that of a hermit crab.

The strangest things about Raccoon, however, are their least Pyrrhian features. Raccoon's face has an even four eyes as opposed to two, the smaller pair of which they keep from scrutiny by pinching them closed. Their wings are less majestic, sweeping, and dexterous, framed like a pair of clawed moth wings. Most curiously, they also have two extra pairs of legs. One nicely hidden underneath their main, and another pair at their hind legs. Both too small to hold themself up, but helps for holding, snatching, or carrying things without suspicion.

Raccoon's markings are similar to a true raccoon's, with white gloves and a striped tail. Their face as a whole is white mask, with brown markings separating their face from their mane. On their belly is an inexplicable marking of a star. Their wings are a bright green, with brown speckles as if having kiwi slices for wings. Their eyes are wide and bright, with an eye color of indecipherable hue, constantly shifting and changing with the light they stand in.

Raccoon frequently wears bandanas they've collected, specifically of the pride variety.

Personality[]

Raccoon, like their appearance, can quickly be summarized as doggish. They love their friends, attention, being treated, and companionship. They love being around the ones they hold dear and often feel aimless when they're by themself. With the company they've found, they're frequently by themself looking for the next hijinks to occupy them until they run back into their friends. They're talkative, and can tell stories until they're blue in the face, frequently having to be interrupted to get anything done. They constantly aim for jokes and a good portion of them miss. Their lighthearted attitude is unmatchable.

In this, they're quite an open dragon. They don't frequently keep secrets, having very few to tell besides how they're deeply feeling. They crave stimulation and entertainment and if they cannot find any, they will simply make up their own, repeating jokes, games, and stories that make them laugh so long as they have someone to listen. Though, to be fair, they're just as good at entertaining themself with funny voices, odd noises, and unconscious muttering to themself.

They come off as naive. Their lightheartedness and caution when coming on too strong or confident frequently makes them come off as ditzy at best and unintelligent at worst. While they are a bit lacking in common sense, they're not a complete and total fool. Just not the best at analyzing social cues, misinterpreting them, and making an even bigger fool of themself. They do have a strong survival instinct and are careful not to land themself in a situation that is truly dangerous. Though, with their skills of improvisation, they're good at getting themself out of a few risky situations.

Raccoon is deeply thoughtful and empathetic. They look at how other dragons feel before they check if they're doing alright. A habit they picked up quickly after the disappearance of their family, as not to fall into deep bouts of unproductivity and exhaustion. They happily treat them and their friends to food, treats, and the occasional play, if they can sneak in to get good seats or scavenge up tickets. Because in the end, they'll always be okay. But some dragons can't just pick themselves back up after hitting a wall. And Raccoon is more than happy to be there for them, if they can.

Abilities[]

Surprisingly, Raccoon does have MudWing's natural ability to breathe fire, under the circumstance they're warm enough. With their mane and their disliking for the cold, keeping themself bundled up and warm if they even catch the hint of a draft. They're not the most athletically built. While they certainly have the potential to be as strong as a MudWing their age, they definitely could use some focus in developing this strength. As it stands, they don't know their own strength as they stumble around Pyrrhia.

Their wings, due to their unusually small size, struggle to get them off the ground, but they're fully capable flight, after a decent running start and a bit of height. The tire easily, however, and believe they have more endurance on foot. They are also somewhat capable of swimming and holding their breath similarly to a traditional MudWing.

True to their name, Raccoon is something of a bandit. While they were quick to adapt and took on many odd jobs throughout the city, Possibility is a place where they struggled to find work without specific skills, learning how to steal food and goods to get by. They're honest in every other regard besides swiping a few snacks on their way home here, a spare bag of coins from a rich drake there, nothing nobody would miss.

Additionally, Raccoon prides themself on their artistic prowess, their art making its rounds through the city as they go by a pseudonym. This is additionally because every so often they receive commissions from the Possibility guards for wanted posters of a few criminals, with their description usually slipping into the requests. Of course, in this case, they hardly treat the city with a few self portraits and tend to be more modest as they "illustrate" themself.

History[]

  • so imagine this group of three mudwings okay, theres otter, bandicoot, and sweet little raccoon
  • they travel the continent because they feel outcast from the mudwing culture and think with their unknown hybrid origins that they ought to find comradery with other tribes
  • they dont, but they keep trying
  • eventually, its getting harder for them because dragons are rude to hybrids, but write this more eloquently so im not just looking for angst
  • they settle in possibility, after having an argument with conflicting opinions about where to turn to and properly begin settling down. bandicoot, the bigwings, wants to go to the mud/sky school, the canyon concaves. otter was quiet but wanted to go to the rainforest where hybrids were more common. raccoon still wanted to search, continue traveling to look for a home to call their own.
  • they stormed off, raccoon leaving to clear their mind on a walk around possibility. but when they returned, they found the lodge their family was staying at went up in flames
  • are they dead? are they alive? thats messed up, idk :( (i do know :smirk:)
  • but raccoon stayed in possibility, hoping, waiting, for their family to return. but has actually adopted new siblings (like maple) and gotten a crush (brisk) so now they dont want to leave.
  • hijinks ensue

Raccoon likes to pride themself on the idea that they'll change the world - they've planned to since they were small. However, the world is constantly changing. How will anyone know which mountain they pushed into place or the pillars they knocked over? They ran away from home, starting from the bottom up, to figure out how exactly they can make a difference people will notice.
Raccoon is a wanderer, making as many impacts on dragons as they can, learning about the different places Pyrrhia and Pantala have to offer, and try to make a difference they'll all know that they were responsible for.

Appearance[]

Raccoon is an obvious hybrid, with incredibly odd features, more so than most hybrids may have. However, hybrids nowadays aren't all that uncommon and even "purebreds" have a few odd features. They claim to be a MudWing, first and foremost, with their obvious shades of brown and bulk. However, they're a mess of genes and heritage, and they look half MudWing and half dog, if anything. Their face is round and doggish, completed with a sweet wet nose and a floppy pair of ears.

Due to the status of a somewhat more "civilized" world, Raccoon frequently wears a plain shirt with lantern sleeves, a short green cape over their shoulders, and baggy brown pants. On their back, they carry something of a whole chicken coop, which their chickens rest in while they travel and provides free food!

Personality[]

At first sight, Raccoon wouldn't seem as friendly as they really are. They're standoffish, quiet, and prefer not to make themself the center of attention. They prefer to let other people do the talking, and they often fade into the background when they can - so long as they aren't carrying their chickens. However, they do have a way of begging for attention, with outlandish humor and a contradictory amount of confidence speaking to a group, considering their anxieties with social situations. They like to leave good impressions on groups, as opposed to getting stuck in one-on-one conversations that are no doubt going to go wrong.

Raccoon is very enthusiastic to extend kindness and empathy. But, unfortunately, they're not quick to trust, often holding acquaintances at arms length and giving it a good amount of time before considering a dragon their friend. They're cautious, first and foremost, and look out for themself first and then their immediate friends. Danger is not something they dance into without a plan and they don't plan on inviting in anymore. Even if that "danger" may be something as simple as the potential to get their feelings hurt.

They're stubborn and strong-willed, not ready to bow their beliefs to other dragons and disagreements get to Raccoon quite personally. They avoid confrontation at any point because they're terrified of ruining relationships based on a passionate conversation resulting in the exposure of true colors Raccoon doesn't want to see. They constantly second guess themself, questioning their goals, opinions, and actions. Instead of putting themself in a situation to question themself, they distract themself with whatever entertainment they can find, amusing themself as they do their best not to get into conversations they'd prefer not to get into.

In this, they're not the most honest dragon about their feelings. If something hurts them, they hold it close to their chest, let it morph into a grudge, and very few times do they actually approach someone who hurts them. They're aware of their bad luck with confrontation and don't plan on risking it. They put on their best face and do their best to fake it until they make it. It's worked for them thus far!

However, Raccoon is a warm individual and constantly craves attention and companionship. They do love the friends who have stuck with them so far and try to be there for them whenever they can. Most of the dragons they've truly held onto for the longest time are the ones they've met on the SilkWing Web. They tend to make a better impression than those who have known them since their days as a small town dragonet.

Abilities[]

Raccoon has the ability to breathe fire and is regarded as having the strength of a MudWing. While they aren't quite as strong as a purebred dragon their age, they lug around a chicken coop across the continents, which can amount to something.

Raccoon also has notable skill in drawing, often living on commissions they make while making their way from place to place across the continents.
