APPEARANCE
Light purple-blue scales are dappled with a myriad of colors, all either shades of blue or purple, with faint pink being shown here or there. Along Proximity's neck, tail, and legs, bands of stormy purple-blues come in like clouds before a storm. Faint magenta can be seen under layers of stormy colors, like hints of sunlight through thick, grey clouds. Light pastel purple cover the spines going down his back, along with the crown and various other horns protruding from his head.
It's worth noting his crown is considerably longer than average and has a slight curve to it near the tip. The pinkish purple reveals itself on his head, clearer than it ever was, surrounding the tip of his snout like paint he forgot to clean off. A small scar can be seen crossing his cheek, clearly looking like a claw wound. Another, rather faint scar can be seen on the left side of his neck, near his shoulders. His shoulders aren't as muddled with stormy colors as the rest of his body, only with faint blues and purples showing up.
- is a lot more gaunt than he used to be, with the years going by now visibly aging him. you can faintly see his ribs pressing against his sides.
- curved crown that is thin and sharp.
- opalescent and mirror-like scales underneath his wings.
- wears golden glasses with a cracked lens that has a small, striped star hanging from the right side of it. often fidgets with this when nervous or bored.
- has another striped, golden star hanging from his right ear from a thin, candy cane striped, gold chain.
- brown dot eyes, filled with a kind sadness.
- thin scars can be seen on his face and neck. bruises can often be seen on his knuckles and elbows.
- main scales are a pastel blue-purple. clouds of hazy blues and pinks swirls across his neck, nose, legs, wings, and tail.
- spines and crown are very light pastel purple. his crown in particular is long and curved.
- silvery white speckles can faintly be seen across the hazy parts of his body.
- wears a few different brown, leather satchels around his neck and tail. keeps any and all items in here that he's currently not using.
PERSONALITY
- closed-off, quiet, and jaded. always looks tired and weary. despite all that, they're a kind and empathetic individual who will help anyone in need.
- after losing just about everything he cares about, he kind of just exists to exist, with no real purpose in life. only goes archeology because it's really the only thing he's still passionate about.
- spends most of his time hopping between libraries across pyrrhia. is very knowledgeable and smart. enjoys teaching, though he's a bit rusty.
- isn't as curious about the world as he used to be. or as eager to learn. still rather studious, however.
- surprisingly street-smart. isn't easily intimidated by threats that are clearly bluffs and will challenge those who threaten them until he intimidates them.
- holds a lot of guilt in his heart.
- still enjoys jokes and comedy, but not as much as he used to. only really makes jokes around younger dragonets to whom he's a complete pushover for.
- is more of a negotiator than a fighter, but can put up a decent fight when he needs to. was never fond of solving problems with violence, however.
- resourceful and reliable. has more of that survivalist instinct, much more so after he almost died and needed to rely on it.
- quite stoic and selfless, will be willing to put the needs to others before himself and doesn't seem too bothered when he gets hurt or is starving. it takes a lot for him to complain about those sorts of things.
ABILITIES
having reflective, mirror-like scales on the undersides of their wings as well as a high pain tolerance, proximity has all the abilities given to them by their tribe. they don't often use their reflective scales for much, only getting use out of them for self-defense purposes. their high pain tolerance is just a nice bonus, especially when recovering from injuries. this is a bit of a double-edged sword, as they might not always be aware that they're bleeding out or need to rest. though they're usually quite sensitive about this kind of thing and try their best to check for injuries they might've glossed over.
what proximity is really known for is their extensive knowledge on ancient history and the stories behind the most well-known animus-enchanted artifacts. they're also a quite exceptional teacher from all the time they used to spend as a college-level professor. then again, their more closed-off and quiet nature makes it difficult for this ability to really stand out. their also not easily intimidated by other dragons for the most part, often knowing when their threats are just bluffs and taking advantage of that to peacefully resolve the conflict. despite their academic knowledge, they're surprisingly street-smart.
it's also worth noting that the lightwing is decently well at fighting. while not actively looking for a fight, in fact they're quite against conflict altogether, they're at least capable of fending for themself. oftentimes they use their opponent's weaknesses and their environment to their advantage.
HISTORY
- once a kind, curious, and painfully empathetic drake is now jaded, closed off, and tired. mainly because everyone thinks their dead. these former traits aren't entirely gone, however.
- proxy was an archeology and ancient history professor at a prestige university in possibility.
- also studied animus-enchanted artifacts and animus history. curated a few of the exhibits at the possibility museum of ancient history.
- lived most of his life with his parents and younger sister, cycles, in the bustling heart of possibility. though they'd occasionally go to the city of sage during the warmer seasons to see grandparents.
- on a couple of occasions, he travelled with his grandparents to the icewing kingdom and got to see the icewing palace in all its glory. this is where his fascination for the history of animus magic began.
- went to community college, majoring in teaching and pyrrhian history. also went to university and soon started teaching archeology and ancient history there as a professor.
- at some point in between him graduating college and going to university, he met a nice barista and senior year psychology student named lorikeet, nicknamed lori, at a library.
- both of them wanted to check out the same book, proxy let her check it out first. when the book was returned and proxy checked it out, he noticed lori had left him a note in-between one of the pages. the two met up at some point, became friends and soon started dating.
- began traveling pyrrhia as an archeologist, bringing lori with him because she was interested in his work. eventually, the two got engaged.
- wasn't meant to be, because he was presumed dead a few days later, i don't know what this event was, but it likely had something to do with an accident happening at a dig site he was at.
- lost his job as an archeologist and professor because he died in the public eye and also lost his apartment and possessions.
- so, having nothing left to lose, he left possibility and began traveling pyrrhia as a vagabond. though he still does some archeology work, just not professionally.
RELATIONSHIPS
LORIKEET
his fiancée whom he was very close with before her... death. since it occurred so soon after his own presumed death, he didn't find out about it for quite some time. and by the time he came back to possibility to tell her, she was already gone. feels lost without her warmth in his life, but is learning to accept that she's gone and isn't coming back. can still remember vividly the days they spent together, which brings both warmth and sorrow to his heart.
still wonders if he could've done something... if he'd just gotten to her sooner... the lightwing still agonizes over it. he now wanders to try and forget the pain of losing her, to try and move on.

a fellow wanderer, and a very knowledgeable one at that. he knows a lot about animus-touched artifacts and certainly knows a lot about magic and the history behind it. occasionally, when the two meet, they can have hour-long conversations. the two have so been seen traveling together for short periods of time, mainly because they enjoy talking to him, finding him a pleasant individual. they don't really know that much about him and feel like he knows more than he's letting on. nevertheless, they're friends.
sometimes wonders what's behind his mask, but is too polite to ask.

- his name is based off of the song, proximity, from the night in the woods original soundtrack.
- in turn, his fiancée's name came from the night in the woods character lori meyers. i liked the name lori and wanted to incorporate it somehow and managed to make it a nickname for lorikeet.
- in his anthro form, he would wear tuxedoes with a lot of pockets and a large, leather satchel around his waist. he'd also ride on a motorcycle.
- in his original design reference, he was going to be depicted wearing the leather-bound satchel, but since i didn't like it, it was removed.
- often finds himself fantasizing about having ice magic.
- would adopt every stray cat he'd come across if he didn't travel so often.

- was raised by celestialistic parents and grandparents and as such was nocturnal for most of his dragonethood. kind of fell out of celestialism or any kind of religion when he went to college.
