Description[]
Magnate Spiral is a youthful, effeminate CentiWing. Said to be like a burgeoning young flower, her cupped spikes more closely resemble petals than thorns, as she polishes them to delicate perfection. Her velvety indigo scales metamorphose to an iridescent rosy luster, and her underscales are a subdued tone of cool brown, like wet pottery.
She was named for the involuntary quirk of coiling her antennae in pleased little knots when deep in thought, though the name could also be attributed to her horns, which neatly curl like snail shells.
Magnate decorates herself in a white gold circlet and brushes her eyelids with the dust of earth metals. Though she cares greatly for favorable presentation, she beautifies herself for her personal pleasure, and not with the intent to dazzle others.
She lives on a private third story of the Auric Fields nest, reserved entirely for her own personal use, but she has opted to be humble about the inheritance. She allows for dragons to use several of the chambers as experimental art studios, so long as they respectfully maintain a quiet atmosphere and leave when the space is needed for diplomatic ends.
Personality[]
Ask any dragon from Auric Fields about their chief and the general sentiment would be one of enchantment. She is charming and shy, preferring to manage the financials behind closed doors; indeed, she squirrels her private life away from the ferreting eyes of the public (because quite frankly it’s unremarkable). She much prefers to keep her public image as one of mystique by leaving certain aspects of her character in the confidence of her quarters, but funnily enough she has very little to hide.
One of her unique privileges as a leader— owing to her affluent background— is that sympathy is an affordable course of action. And truly, the asset which her nestmates value most is her ability to make them feel personally valued when she addresses them. Magnate is known for her philanthropy, naïveté, and adulation for the arts. Her patronage is not profligately bestowed— for she was raised to budget her loyalties and critically delouse her funds of sycophants— but of course she is not invincible to the occasional gaffe, and her patience has never been infinite.
Being able to keep the public satisfied is not what makes her truly worthy of her job, but it does help to keep her in power, and is merely the reward that eases the more troubling questions which accompany responsibility.
History[]
Magnate owes her wealth to the Scrumstrider swarm inheritance. You see, her family is distantly related to Nezarini Khan, whose heirs had different ideas about how wealth should be spread than he did, and-- like true opportunists--maneuvered themselves into a position that would monopolize all his assets he'd promised to share. This made the family extremely unpopular until his great-grandson, Civil Engineer Nezarini, sought to set things right and did his part in making Auric Fields a kinder place to live.
Much like her ancestors, Magnate has profited greatly from supporting her tribemates' hard work, especially in the textile industry, where she recognizes the talent of young artists. She has a hidden passion for sewing, herself (having a signature style of stitching in radial loops), but seldom has the leisure to busy herself with it.
Relationships[]
Due to the nature of her work, Magnate is not currently in a romantic relationship, but she has always dreamed of indulging herself in one.
Relatives[]
- Magnate Nezara VI: Her mother and the proper heiress of Scrumstrider's fortune, which despite Nezarini being a dude has been traditionally passed through the female since it was his female descendants who looted the swarm's riches
- Magnate Wonder: Her father, a veritable hard worker and devout supporter of the Auric Fields Scrumstrider chapter for historic preservation
- Nezara VII: Her younger sister, an indolent wastrel whose title has been dishonorably removed twice within the span of three years
- Surveyor Vanduzeei: Her uncle, who doesn't do much other than spy on Chiefs' Convents to see how land is being negotiated and then organize dragons to work it
