Backstory[]
Lynn and her twin sister, Anya, were raised in a network of underground caves. Nothing as fancy as Valor, just cramped, rough-hewn rooms with low light and spiders. A large group of the Pantala humans had retreated there just before the Breath of Evil was defeated, and see unaware that they were safe. Almost two generations grew up in the dark, including Lynn.
Lynn hated it all. The darkness, the silence, the inability to run or climb or rough house or even draw (because of the lack of light and materials).
Anya, on the other hand, was the opposite of her sister. She was content to sit and weave, the most common pastime - and one of the hobbies Lynn despised most. Anya was the darling of the community, especially for those with small children - the tiny rascals (as Lynn referred to them) adored her, and she reciprocated.
Finally, when the twins were eleven, they were given their first chance to go outside. [wip]
After Anya died, she decided to get revenge on the dragon who'd done it. Not just any old dragon; she was going to find that red dragon, somewhere.
She decided to travel to Pyrrhia, where it's much more populated. There, she meets Palm and Baobab, a pair of unfortunately stereotypical RainWings traveling in order to escape any real responsibility under Queen Glory. She threatens them, and reluctantly, they allow her in.
So she joins them, finds them both very irritating, but still is growing less afraid of dragons and more interested in their culture. Then Crimson stumbles into them. He's a SkyWing, a murderer/assassin equipped with no morals and an arsenal of colorful language.
So here he is, and he tells them to either let him hide in their group or he'll kill them. The RainWings start to protest, but Lynn butts in and insists on allowing him.
Unfortunately, he doesn't really believe that scavengers are worth anything, and starts teaching the thoroughly unwilling RainWings to fight. She constantly tries to get him to teach her too, to which he ignores her. Finally, he agrees, and the two start to bond (duh) at which point Baobab wants in, and convinces Unnamed Sister to join.
So here they are, traveling the continent, until, just like 2 months later, they're being chased by SkyWing guards or something and they stumble into Hope, at which point Crimson comes face-to-face with another dragon who looks just like him. Disconcerted, the group continues, but Lynn decides to go back in order to figure out what is going on. At which point she has an unfortunate run-in with a certain insane murderer and her self-proclaimed-charismatic friend.
