Appearance[]
Lunaria is a slightly bigger than average female RainWing-NightWing hybrid with molten gold eyes. She mostly takes after her mother Glory, appearing at first glance to be a RainWing, with few NightWing traits. If one focuses, the teardrop scale beneath each eye indicative of mind readers is present along with longer than usual (for a RainWing) spikes and star covered wings. Beyond these, Lunaria looks like a pure blooded RainWing.
Her main scales are a lavender color, and slightly darker, but still bright lavender scales run down her back and along the front of her arms and legs. Her belly scales are a wide arrange of colors and start light pink at her neck growing into a peachy pink at her collar bone, then a soft peach at her chest where the color pales until it's a very light cream at the tip of her tail. Lunaria's main scales begin to diverge into a pink-violet color at her forearms, forelegs, and tail tip, with freckles of the same color covering her cheeks. She has twisting silvery white horns and all white claws and spikes. Her frill and wings start out the same lavender as her body, and grow silvery and paler approaching the edge, they're both splattered with silvery star like scales. Lunaria also has distinctive crescent shaped scales that run down the length of her body that are silver like the moon.
Personality[]
Abilities[]
Born under two full moons and a crescent moon, Lunaria is capable of both mind reading and future telling. She also possesses all natural RainWing abilities except their acidic spit. She possesses all natural NightWing abilities except fire breath.
She also has an extensive skill set, with and talon and eye for taxes, resource management, economics, and speech. All the requirements like public perception and bureaucratic paperwork come easily through talent and practice while other parts expected of royalty such as combat come at a struggle. She's at most average a talon-to-talon combat and prefers smaller long-range weapons.
History[]
Lunaria is the third and final daughter of Queen Glory, and the heir to the Rain-Night throne. However, this isn't due to the deaths of her two elder sisters. The older Princesses, twins Night Shade and Day Dream both chose to give up the right to the throne to pursue their own ambitions, with Night journeying to become as master assassin like her father-which upset her mother, and Day leaving to pursue an average life in possibility. Both twins disliked the pressure of responsibility, and so the title of heir was left to Lunaria. Glory and Deathbringer, desperate to keep Lunaria interested in the title of heir, raised her strictly, though not unkindly, always making sure to provide tutors in all matters of royalty while cultivating interests beneficial to a Queen.
Lunaria, beyond her status as royal, was born quite average (many NightWings were moonborn these days), and so, constantly aware of her duties, had to always work hard to be better than just mediocre. She was quietly aware of anyone more skilled than her in every subject, and her endless comparisons grew into a major perfectionist complex. Despite this all, she was never the best in much, like tree gliding, flying, hunting, camouflage, combat, art, or literature, and as she grew, she become all the more aware of what she lacked in. She utilized everything in her arsenal, from her mind reading, her future seeing, her connections, and her own charm to try to become better, and also gained a control complex, with her perfectionist tendencies worsening. Sometimes, after studying more morbid parts of royal history, she would have nightmares of her sisters, dragons she never really got to know, as they were rarely present, returning to overthrow her.
These issues did not go unnoticed by her parents though, who always consoled her, calming her down and supporting her. Lunaria, prideful in her responsibilities, always rebuked their attempts, insistent on the fulfilling duties Glory and Deathbringer had shared with her when she was younger. She's defensive when anyone suggests working less, viewing attempts to sooth her as others perceiving her as weak and unable to shoulder the weight of Queendom.
One night as Glory and Deathbringer let down their walls to talk about the topic of Lunaria's mental health, or rather the lack thereof, Lunaria overheard, being an obsessive mind reader, and she heard incomplete thoughts of doubt regarding her, resulting in her breaking down. Unbeknownst to her, Deathbringer was simply suggesting sending her to Jade Mountain Academy where she would be away from royal tutors and the pressure of being heir. Glory agreed, knowing how much their's, other RainWings' and NightWings' words meant to Lunaria, and that maybe a new set of faces might ease the princess. Trusting Tsunami and Clay to be good to Lunaria and hoping new subjects to learn about not related to royalty, RainWings, or NightWings might help their daughter, they planned to send her to Academy the start of the next school year, which was in a week. Lunaria retreating into a hostile and sulky attitude, sent passive aggressive remarks to her parents which concerned them as their daughter no matter how upset had always respected them. Lunaria was eventually informed by a servant of her moving to JMA, and on the day to leave, she exploded at her parents, listing her grievances with them, stating how she couldn't believe they didn't trust her after all the effort she put in to being a good daughter and heir, before taking off to the Academy.
Arriving at the school upset and drained, she thought of leaving like her sisters in spite, but she found herself repulsed at the idea. She still cherished her role as heir, but after realizing how un-royal like her reaction was, she began to doubt herself, wondering whether she was fit to be Queen in the first place.
