N O T E S

kind of just a loser who is constantly seeking the validation and admiration of others. he's very dramatic about how he learned the different skills he has. though he never goes as far as the claim he can do something he can't actually do.
believes that he has such a boring backstory that he just makes up new ones. he lived a very simple childhood with his father and parent... but that's too boring!
parents weren't bad at all. maybe a little... inexperienced, but not bad. he was their firstborn and their only child, so they wanted to care for him the best that they could. didn't end up spoiling him, both of them were very careful not to make him into a brat, especially his father.
it can be a little hard to tell what actually happened to him and what he made up since all the stuff he talks about seems plausible.
won't talk about his love life too deeply, but i'll say this... it was a total train wreck in all the worst ways. oh boy... it was bad. still craves to be in a relationship with someone, but has forbidden himself because he doesn't trust himself to not screw it up.
has like... 8 ex lovers, most of whom had their lives made worse because of him, and was called "heartbreaker" by all of them.
has an affinity for tattoos. where are they on his base? uh... on his right side... yeah...
his sail is made out of some kind of strange substance. it's cold to the touch and can be shaped like clay into different hairstyles. amdusias likes to play with it and lucio will occasionally take suggestions from them as to what to model his sail into for the time being. they have... some strange, yet creative suggestions.
joined amdusias's party so he could be apart of something after leaving a manipulative organization. he did seem rather worn and aimless, desperate to find another community to join that wouldn't manipulate him and try to control every part of his being.
apparently lost his right ring finger to a sea beast. "it was a small one," he claims. only amdusias believes him.
the symbol on his left shoulder is a tattoo from the community he used to be a part of.
close with amdusias and thinks they are his biggest fan. so he tries hard to impress them... which often leads to him getting hurt and them needing to heal him... much to his irritation.
isn't fond of healing magic or animus magic in general. thinks it's the "easy way out." still is begrudgingly learning to accept some aspects of it because of amdusias and mydo showing him a different perspective.
family worships paathak, though he personally does not since he isn't fond of the guy (hates cowards). isn't particularly religious after joining and escaping from a cult, but does believe in a few superstitions, mostly those tied to luck, both good and bad.

A P P E A R A N C E

a heroic figure, decorated in scars and tattoos, each one telling stories of heroism, of conflict, of victory. his body is a dark navy blue, with it being lighter near his underbelly and darker near his back. dark splotches go down his sides, with lighter dots seen within them. silvery blue teardrop-shaped follow these splotches down, along with constellation-like patterns going down his back in a diamond-shaped pattern.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

sociable, loyal, and confident. he craves to be a part of something and desires to be admired by others. he's the cool, mysterious friend who desperately wants other people to think he's cool.
doesn't actually have that many friends. his party members and his family are like... the closest people he has now. the organization he was a part of doesn't count because they were all fake friends and generally horrible people.
truly aimless. spent most of his adulthood just... drifting, following any current that picks him up. but now he's finally starting to swim on his own accord.
his loyal and caring to the people he is close with. more willing to open up and be more vulnerable around people he's really close with.
- exception are people he deems to be his "fans," aka people who admire him. he doesn't want their admiration of him to weaken because they saw him be vulnerable and "weak."
likes all the tattoos and scars he has on his body, thinks they all give him stories to tell others. get tattoos depicting key events in his life so far.

- stigmatizes his own mental health struggles
- avoids conversations about and showing emotions that he fears would make him seem "weak" (so never crying in public and just bottling up all his problems). specifically tries to avoid crying or showing fear in front of amdusias... since he wants them to see him as a fearless adventurer, not an actual person with dimensions.
  - is fine crying in front of mydo though since he doesn't think he's a fan. just begs mydo to not tell amdusias. mydo doesn't care, but doesn't tell anyway.
- also is perfectly fine with not taking care of himself and pushing himself to his limits (similarly to what mydo does).
working with the party after being alone for awhile has made him learn how... emotionally stunting and stupid these ideas are. amdusias also helped knock them out of him. still shows some of these traits sometimes, they aren't entirely gone, but they're not as damaging as they once were.
can be a little... self-centered and full of himself. it's more... bragging about his accomplishments and being slightly arrogant. nothing really bad.
wants to be "good enough." is very sensitive to failure and is very attached to this heroic persona he's trying to put on. he rarely talks about his failings or shortcomings because they would ruin that persona.
nothing destroys him more than disappointing someone who thought or thinks highly of him. literally anyone who is this he considers a fan... and he never disappoints his fans. almost to a fault. he tries so hard to meld himself into an archetype, the bold, fearless, admirable hero that others can look up to that he doesn't realize how... unrealistic it is.
will self-destruct if someone who once liked him now thinks less of him.

A B I L I T I E S

lucio is capable of seeing in the dark and he has a few luminous spots on his body. the teardrop scales that go along the sides of his body and the star-like scales on the undersides of his wings are seem to glow faintly in the dark, but are otherwise unremarkable. perhaps his most noticeable luminous spot are his antenna, which can glow on command, just like the luminous patterns on his underbelly, face, and limbs. lucio also understands aquatic and pyrrhian sign language, as he was taught it when he was younger... even though he can only use sign language. he's still rusty with understanding either of these languages since he doesn't use them very often.

lucio is also quite athletic and has quite a high pain tolerance. his athleticism only really came about, at first, by the organization he joined, where he worked as both a body guard and a pirate. as such, he's skilled in combat, especially talon-to-talon, though he has experience using blades as well. his memory also isn't one to be trifled with. it's quite exceptional, something he both loves... and despises.

H I S T O R Y

lived a very average and mundane childhood in ithaka, the aestival sea. was the only child of tudes, a sea / night professor and phagan, a sea / silk psychologist. family wasn't particularly religious, but they did worship paathak, the god of ithaka. mostly for his benefits because they were really good.
- phagan was more religious than tudes, but only because phagan had more religious parents than tudes. they also weren't that more religious than him. his father wasn't too big into mindlessly praising some guy he's never even seen the face of. out of the two, lucio would end up having similar beliefs to his father... not being particularly religious.
- family was still superstitious, more so lucio's grandmother and uncle, but his parents were also a bit superstitious. lucio would have a fixation on luck-based superstitions because it felt like they gave him some control over his own fate.
occasionally met with his uncle, inkstone, aunt, lamna, and grandmother, serket, during family get togethers. out of the three, he was closest with his uncle since he was... really fun to be around.
inkstone loved treasure hunts and though he didn't go on that many himself, he did sometimes take lucio on them... letting his nephew solve all the puzzles and riddles while he just made sure lucio didn't get lost or something.
woah, now he loves exploring and thinks his uncle is super cool!
when he was around 20 to 21 years old, he moved out and finally went out into the big... big... world... wow... it's so... big... what... what now?
didn't want to immediately come back home after this realization of "oh, i actually have no idea what i want to do with my life and has no aspirations." he didn't want to disappoint his family and worried if he went back to them they'd think he'd be a failure or something. so he just... wandered ithaka for awhile.
soon encountered a very trustworthy looking group of sailors and monster hunters and the thought of monster hunting and protecting traders and fishermen seemed fun so... boom, he became a monster hunter... whatever a "monster hunter" was...
lucio wasn't particularly respected at first, but he was young and gullib- i... i mean, strapping... yeah... strapping.
would later find out that this gang of "monster hunters" were actually... poachers. sea beast poachers to be exact. though it took lucio quite a while to figure out that what they were doing... was horrible... and very much illegal. they told him what they were doing was good... that these creatures deserved to be purged... that they were monstrous, dangerous creatures who only thirsted for the blood of dragons.
what tipped lucio off was when they started killing... sirens. a very much sentient and intelligent species of sea beast that were even theorized to be a close relative to seawings. though they were often discriminated against and were occasionally victims of poaching.
they weren't heroes, they weren't monster hunters... they were murderers.
got beaten up pretty badly when he escaped with a siren the poachers were planning on killing. still has many wounds from that day and even has a tattoo of it.
left ithaka, didn't feel safe anywhere in there. thought if the authorities didn't find him and recognize him as a poacher, then he'd be hunted down by his former comrades and be brutally murdered.
escaped to vaara. it was like... the closest place to where he currently was. and plus... nobody would hunt him down in vaara... no one wants to go there.
would become a vagabond who had no idea what to he wanted to do with himself. this part of his life was likely where he met most of his exes.
learned a few years later that his former comrades got the retribution they deserved... a watery grave. paathak's followers had found out about their little operation and had their ship sunk and all its members killed... at least the ones they could find.
in his time in vaara, he met a scrappy troop of mudwings. apparently there were once four of them, but now there were only two... though he was told that there was a third one who left.
this troop would be amdusias, the youngest of the troop and an aspiring magic user and mydo, another magic user and the current "bigwings" of their troop ever since their eldest sibling died.
decided to accompany them since he didn't really have anything better to do and also... he just wanted to have someone to talk to after months of being alone. would eventually find himself being adopted into their troop as their new older brother, so...

R E L A T I O N S H I P S

M Y D O

has a bit of a strained relationship with mydo. while he seems... tolerant of them, they get the feeling he doesn't fully like them. he acts colder and a bit passive-aggressive towards them, but is not outwardly hostile or rude to them. unlike amdusias, who admires them, mydo just seems... unimpressed, much to lucio's annoyance. the two don't interact as much, as mydo usually spends his free time pushing himself to his limits with his intense training regimen. they have to give him props, he's certainly... serious and skilled at what he does.

the two do seem to have some kind rivalry that neither party ever acknowledges. sometimes they can be seen arguing when it comes to complex battle strategies. mydo usually has things really planned out and overly complicated while lucio just things they should ditch the overly complicated plan and just think of something more quick and simple. even still, their bickering doesn't heavily effect their performance working with one another on the battlefield. in fact, the two make a very good fighting duo, though they don't seem to even realize it. most of the information they've learned about mydo was through amdusias as they have a much better understanding of him and they could ever have.

A M D U S I A S

he's close to his sibling... because apparently he's their brother now. the hybrid certainly likes them better than their colder older brother, mydo, so they're basically one of the only people he interacts with on a daily basis. and... he loves interacting with them. he considers them to be his biggest fan and, as such, he doesn't want to disappoint them and is always going out of his way to impress them with his skill. he wants them to look up to him... so he can feel some kind of validation that he so utterly craves. lucio also just finds them to be a very insightful, curious, and kind person who respects just about everyone around them and is very loyal and caring towards those who are closest to them... so their party members.

the two are often caught up in witty banter with one another and generally have an older and younger sibling dynamic. lucio enjoys telling them stories and teaching them how to do things without the assistance of magic. they do certainly conflict when it comes to that subject matter. amdusias was born an animus and wants to learn how to use their magic to help others and while he acknowledges and respects that, he worries about them being in situations where they can't use magic. he wants them to be prepared for any situation so they can get out of it safely. so sorry if he's not being "supportive" enough of their endeavors, HE just wants them to not be completely reliant on magic.

he's been willing to accept their healing magic, even if it's begrudgingly. after all, even he can see the convenience of its usage. there are some times he can suck up his pride and accept that he's wrong... magic isn't just used by lazy people to avoid learning important survival skills. it can actually be really damn useful... and beautiful. he's seen how happy and excited amdusias gets when they cast a new spell correctly... they rush over to mydo and show him and he looks so... proud and happy for them. he wants to support them... he wants them to rush over to him as well and show them these beautiful spells they're practicing. he just... needs to learn more about it.

T U D E S

their father. they haven't seen him in a long while after they made a vow to never show their face to their parents again until they've actually made something of themself. and... they're getting somewhere, they suppose. they are fond of him and deeply respect how well he took care of them in their youth. he's quite plain in most respects, but he can be strict when he needs to be. despite carrying a serious aura to him, as he seems to try to put on this façade of being very professional, he's actually... really light-hearted, playful, and funny? there was no doubt in their mind that tudes loved them, but they still feel like he let them go off on their own too early... even though they left at the age of 18.

they were told, mostly by their uncle, inkstone, how much of a stickler for the rules tudes used to be. and, in a way, they could see it growing up. he always wanted them to follow by the laws of the land and put their faith in paathak... who he talked about as though this deity was benevolent, intelligent, and all-powerful... but also absent. but what stuck with them the most... and caused them to take that vow to not return until they've made something of themself... was when he said to them "you're going to do great things" before letting them go off on their own. it was something so simple... something they were surely not supposed to take this seriously and yet... here they are.

I N K S T O N E

their uncle. they like inkstone a lot, he's really fun to spend time with! in their older teen years, they would occasionally meet up with him and just... listen to his weird stories, something they were insistent on because, like inkstone himself, they didn't really like talking about themself at that time. most of them would be true, but he did admit to making some of them up on a few occasions just to mess with them. a majority of his stories were about their family (mostly tudes and selachi), paathak, or just interesting life experiences he had. he is such... and interesting person. inkstone said "being interesting is the least you can hope to be. though being such isn't hard to achieve. everyone is interesting if you look hard enough."

they still have a hard time fully believing that... for they never thought themself to be interesting no matter how hard they tried. their uncle was a very influential person in their life and someone they strived to be like. curious, socially confident, witty, understanding, interesting... they love all of this about him. it just feels so good to be around him and lucio... wants others to feel that way when they're around them too. yet, despite how close they seem to be with him, they didn't really see him too often. only at family gatherings and, much more frequently, when they were able to travel on their own. they know for a fact they wouldn't be the same without him influencing their life early on.

P A A T H A K

they're conflicted. he's rather infamous for being a coward, at least among the community they associated with. though, judging by how completely messed up that community's world view is, they wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't true. for the most part, they just... don't see him as the all powerful deity they were raised to believe he was. they don't know what or who he is, they haven't even MET the guy! inkstone told them stories about him, random encounters he had with him as taverns he went to. he described him as "reserved in most respects, but very talkative when discussing his interests. and also very rowdy and surprisingly passionate when under the influence." this guy is the person so many have devoted their lives to worshipping?

he seems so... mundane. so... normal. these stories inkstone told about him kind of... ruined their previous image of him. once an untouchable, divine idol of good health and longevity turned into a normal guy who has flaws... and passions... and insecurities. they can't describe how such a sudden shift felt. over the years, they now just see him as the ruler of the seawing archipelago, not a deity, just a powerful ruler with a large influence. they also find amdusias's perspective on who paathak is... interesting. they consider him to instead be a powerful healer, the best in the world in their opinion. lucio assumes that, because they were never a magic user, they just... never thought of him that way.

O U I J A

ah, the wyrm... it isn't a surprise that they are conflicted about him too. most of their thoughts on him are shared with amdusias as they are the one who told lucio anything about him. he's both a storyteller and a gamemaster for this strange card game he invented to play with others, eating all who lose to him. that certainly... makes him interesting, that's for sure. much like paathak, they don't really see ouija as a deity either, more than just... a powerful guardian of deepwood, his domain. after all, aren't gods supposed to be distant from the affairs of dragons? more of a concept than an actual being with a physical form. in retrospect, calling them "the remaining gods" feels... false in a way. ouija, paathak, or shamira sound like gods to them, merely rulers who masquerade as such.

B H A V I S H

the mother of the marshlands, bhavish. she is said to be as wicked and temperamental as they get. for the longest time, she wasn't really much of a thought in his mind. after all, he resided in the seawing archipelago, which worships paathak. so that... deity... filled his mind for the longest time. and when she was mentioned, the words "wicked" and "temperamental" were always brought with it, as though that was all she ever was. it was really upon meeting people who actually lived in vaara that his perspective on her changed... slightly. amdusias and mydo always saw her as more of a force of nature than an actual, physical being. after all, no one in their troop ever laid eyes upon bhavish in the flesh, just depictions of her.

lucio was never very fond of vaara, from its annoyingly hostile fauna AND flora to the mud that he'd have to trudge through while the others could walk through it like it was any other terrain. but, in travelling through vaara, he didn't realize how... diverse it was. there were much more than browns and swampy greens coming from this place, there were trees with pale bark that had swaths of flaming red and orange leaves and mushrooms of all shapes and sizes in a wide variety of warm colors. and those rolling hills, nothing but peaceful chirping of birds and crickets to be heard among the softly rustling wind. it was... beautiful. and bhavish... was the one behind it.

to think this was once a famished land of mud, swamp water, and starvation. now it was a bustling, lively land of harvest. she is probably the one who made the most direct impact on the land around her. at least to his knowledge. bhavish... truly feels like a deity, a force of nature not to be reckoned with. he doesn't fully worship her, but amdusias and mydo do, so he occasionally partakes in the different traditions they do.

moral alignment is true neutral.
love languages are acts of service, quality time, and physical touch.
may fidget with his antenna or hands when nervous or worried about something. also tends to chew on grass or bone toothpicks when bored or to look cool.
owns a toad statuette that amdusias bought for him. was told that frogs and toads give good luck and can sometimes be seen quickly bowing to any frogs or toads he sees, which is something amdusias and mydo do.
loves seafood and enjoys calamari quite a bit. seems to partially eat calamari because of how taboo or even outlawed it is to make, much less eat, in the seawing archipelago. only gets the chance to eat it when he goes to the west coast.
does think squids and octopuses are cool design wise and does like seeing cephalopod design motifs in art, jewelry, and architecture.
might sometimes accidently pronounce treasure as trey • sure. this is a byproduct of being around inkstone for too long as he pronounces it that way too.
in his original design, he was going to have silkwing wings, but this was scrapped. he was also originally not going to have any antenna, but they were soon added after some consideration.
lucio wasn't originally intended to be related to inkstone, another one of my characters, but after seeing how similar their color palettes and designs were, i decided to make them uncle and nephew. this whole thing was just a bunch of coincidences that ended up working out in the end.
