The Sanctuaries (of which there are three, although the most notorious is the Silverblood Sanctuary), are safe havens created by three different demikami to protect and house other demikami from Izanami's monsters and her siren call. The three Sanctuaries create a triangular shape on the map of Pyrrhia, with Silverblood Sanctuary in the Bay of a Thousand Scales, Petrichor Sanctuary in the Northeast, and Espejoro Sanctuary in the Southwest.
Guidelines
- Making demikami is now OPEN without permission.
- You are not permitted to make offspring of any Progenitors for lore reasons. Progenitor kami include The Lightbringer, The Shadowstalker, The Timewalker, and The Seer.
- If I find that you made a character with a Progenitor parent, you will be warned for it.
- Please only give your demikami one kami ability to avoid becoming overpowered, as a curtesy and respect for the project.
- If you want two kami powers, your character should have zero' tribal abilities, like frost-breath, fire-breathing, or venom, for example. This does not include physical features, like IceWing claws or SeaWing photophores.
- Anyone is allowed to make a demikami/sanctuary roleplay. Please do not use characters that do not belong to you.
Other Notes
- The Kamiverse is parallel to canon, but since it is a religion AU, it can be present in any timeline and any character from any AU may believe in it. However, the main storyline is pre-canon and canon timelines, so there is no electricity, modern technology, or anything of the like.
- Demikami do not have to go to a Sanctuary; it would make their lives a lot easier, but it is not required.
Sanctuaries' Goals
The main goal of the havens is to protect young demikami from the pull of The Shadowstalker and the dangers of her shadow ghouls (explained more in Enemies) while preparing for the inevitable day she breaks free from her prison and wages war on the kami, effectively ripping Pyrrhia apart.
It is also important to teach young demikami about their heritage, including their godly ability and how to use it safely. Many times before arriving at the retreat, they are not aware of their other parent and why they are being targeted by monsters or plagued with ghoulish nightmares. The Sanctuaries pride themselves on building each student's strength of mind and strength of body to fight off The Shadowstalker's monsters and her nightmares.
Like any parent, the Sanctuaries oftentimes raises these demikami dragonets and teenagers and try their best to instill good character in each one. All members should be educated and able to take care of themselves by the time they reach full adulthood. Dragons rarely stay in the retreats for their whole lives; once reaching adulthood and completing all education, they often reintegrate back into society using their chosen pathway (explained more in Education) for their occupation.
Enemies
The main enemies of demikami all link back to The Shadowstalker, the mother of monsters, queen of nightmares, and goddess of all things malevolent. After being thrown into a dark pit, far beneath the earth where she can never leave, the goddess has been planning her revenge on the kami for centuries. Since she cannot leave her underground prison, she lures mortals to her location through her siren song and glamour of a loved one. If she touches them, the mortal will become one of her shadow monsters.
These shadow creatures range from mischievous to just plain horrible, all depending on their amounts of hatred and anger when they were still mortal. Some day, The Shadowstalker will break free of her prison and a war among the gods will commence and tear apart Pyrrhia; the Sanctuaries are preparing for that day.
All the Sanctuaries have been blessed by The Lightbringer's protection; he placed a holy-magic spell surrounding the three safe havens that will obliterate any dark magic of The Shadowbringer, including her monsters. He's also placed a spell that re-routes any mortals away from the Sanctuaries.
The Founders
The Silverblood Sanctuary was founded first, before the Scorching, by a demikami named Nero – son of The Earthshaker. As no safe haven for demikami existed yet, all of them either dying young, getting dragged to The Shadowstalker, or staying on the run forever. That was no life to live.

General Operation
Roles
The Head of the Sanctuary: Each of the three havens have a demikami who is in charge of their respective Sanctuary. They have to deal with all the issues that arise and ultimately make sure that their goals are being followed. The head of Silverblood is Gin, son of The Truthseeker; the head of Espejoro is the SandWing son of The Windrider: Seneca; and the head of Petrichor is Coldcreek, the daughter of The Reaper.
Academic Instructors: Each Sanctuary has teachers for these five general curriculum categories: History, Common Draconian (language), Math, Survival Skills, and Biology/Anatomy. More information can be found in the Education section.
Farmers, Hunters, Gardeners: All of the Sanctuaries are built to be self-sustainable, meaning they produce their own food. Farmers have fruit orchards, vegetable gardens, and some have livestock like cows (for milk), goats (for milk), chickens (eggs), and bees (honey). These farmers do not keep livestock for the purpose of meat. Hunters are demikami in the Warrior Pathway; as part of their training, they must go out and catch prey of various species and sizes (including deer, birds, moose, fish, sharks). All dragons will learn how to hunt in the Survival Skills classes, but are not the ones who have to provide for everyone else. Finally, the gardeners are often students in the Healing Pathway, as they are the ones growing plants for treating ailments.
Vendors: If there is a surplus of crops or other goods, the vendors are the dragons who are able to leave the safety of the Sanctuary and sell the product. Usually a child of the luck kami or love kami will provide a more favorable outcome. Only one or two vendors are needed per Sanctuary.
