Kelpie, and the child of Sanguine-Bluff
Appearance[]
Lithe, perhaps. Skinny, frail, more bones than flesh, with horns that twine long and curved, coiling into itself. A creature with a thin black pelt that shimmers like spilled oil. Blue and purple chase each other across fur and feather and skin, a sheen of iridescence that would be beautiful if it wasn't suffocating. Its mane is straight and long, always soaked through and dripping with water, ragged clumps plastered together and dragged down with a weight that never lifts.
A white star sits between its eyes, one of the many gifts its heritage left. Its eyes watch the shore with an icy blue gaze.
Personality[]
Others always call it strange, and little else. It is strange to them, with blank eyes half shrouded by river water, peering raptly towards the shore. It rarely looks towards anything else, observing the goings-on of dragons that always quail from its gaze. The stillness, perhaps, is what's most unsettling, its ability to float passively in the water for hours unmoving.
The mind behind those curious eyes is bright with daydreams and fantasies, stories it creates about the dragons it sees. It is content to watch, examining the scenery with interest and creating stories that it whispers to itself and the reeds in the riverbed. It is surprisingly playful, though few have the chance to witness its midnight prances around the mangrove trees. Its life is fulfilling, satisfied with a world wholly contained in its own mind.
It does not know fear. Already at home in the waters MortarWings shun, it has yet to conceptualize morality, death, or any sense of self preservation. Injuries hurt, but they heal, and the current flows gentle over surface wounds. It is safe in the river. Even if not, it will not be afraid.
