Ilia is a large and burly dragon, who holds herself with confidence. This makes her seem to tower over dragons only a few inches shorter than her. She has two light magenta horns that curve like a HiveWing's. She also has a third horn which sits on her nose and slightly stretches towards her face. It has been noted that this third horn is similar to that of small beetle. She also has four antennae, with two sitting behind each of the horns on her head (excluding the one on her nose). Every one of Ilia's scales is brightly colored and reflect a spectrum of rainbow light when hit by the sun, except for the inside of her ear which is a drab and stormy grey. Most of the scales along her face and neck are light blues and purples with a section of red and orange gradients in front of her dark teal eyes, as well as on her antennae. She has short and round lime green spikes running along her back. This lime merges with the magenta from her horns on the scales running along the middle and back of her neck. On the front of her neck and running to the tip of her tail, Ilia has bright purple, blue, and teal scales, as well as behind her eyes.

Ilia is fiercely loyal to her friends and will protect them any threat- even ones that are only in her head. She worries that one day she will fail to save the dragons she cares about when it matters most so she uses a premptive strike strategy by assuming everything is a threat as soon as she sees it. Because of this, she is extremely distrustful of anyone new on the island.Ila hates working in groups, preferring to complete any and all tasks on her own. She's also very determined, to the point where the best way to get her to do something is to tell her she can't. She has a long memory, and will hold grudges against anyone who wrongs her. However, she will also remember when anyone does something nice and will be more willng to help that dragon in the future. Ilia is proud of her BeetleWing heritage and hates being called a SilkWing. Despite her tough exterior, inside Ilia feels guilty about hurting other dragons, and rarely uses her weapons except in battle training where she mainly focuses on defensive measures.

Ilia's parents were killed by Queen Wasp when she was young, and she doesn't remember them. She was raised on a secret island off the coast of Dragonfly Bay, where she chose to train as a warrior to protect her queen and everyone else who lived on the island. The only problem was that the island was already protected by a magical barrier, so there wasn't much of a need for extra protection until one day, when the shield disappeared. Ilia knew there wasn't much time until Queen Wasp's army rained down on them. She was immediately suspicious of Ra- a SandWing who had arrived on the island just a few days earlier, after all he did look kind of like a HiveWing.

Along with being proficient in a variety of weapons, Ilia has several natural defenses, including the ability to shoot a venom from her fangs that will burn through anything. She also has flamesilk, but unlike SilkWings with a similar ability, BeetleWing flamesilk only comes in the extremely burny fire kind.

Queen Photon: Ilia is extremely loyal to the SilkWing-HiveWing hybrid who rules Paradise and will protect her at any and all costs.

Winterholly and Frostfell: At first Ilia was suspicious of the IceWings who'd flown across the ocean, but she later started warming up to them. Ilia became close friends with Frostfell and they enjoy battle training together. Ilia likes Winterholly, but finds her a little boring, so they don't spend much time together.

Ra: Ilia is extremly distrustful of Ra ever since he crashed onto the island's beach. She believes that he was the reason the barrier surrounding the island disappeared.
