How to Train Your Wings of Fire[]
Bat accidentally contacted King Windracer, who was resting in Possibility, using a dreamvisitor. Reasoning that that the only way the scavenger could have gotten the dreamvisitor was by stealing it, Windracer and his friends traveled to the scavenger ruins in hopes that the rest of the SandWing treasure would be there, leaving Cleverclaws and Ex-Princess Greatness in charge of the NightWings during his absence.
Upon arrival at the ruins, the Dragonets of Destiny surveyed the area from the sky until two scavengers emerged from the burnt village. Windracer approached the scavengers and tried to communicate with them by drawing in the dirt. Gust made a drawing of wind and kept pointing to it and herself, hinting that her name had something to do with wind. Princess Lagoon gave her the nickname "Windshear" because she thought it sounded cool.
Gust, along with her brother Bat, later attended the peace summit between the three rival SandWing princesses on the false brightest night, along with some human friends of their choosing. While Princess Blister was fighting Princess Blaze, she helped her aunt Rose dig up Queen Oasis's remains, along with Bat, Cloud, Windracer, Arid, Princess Lagoon, and Bog.
How to Train Your Wings of Fire 1.5[]
At ages four and five, respectively, Gust and Bat asked their mother, Lark, about their father's fame, and she told them about Heath killing the sand dragon queen. Bat claimed that he wanted to see a dragon, and Gust asked why their uncle Stone was yelling at Heath about running away from dragons. Later, the siblings noted how their father took all the credit for the citizens' hard work, and began to grow suspicious. Together with their friends, Pebble, Lizard and Snake, they formed the Truth Seekers club, with their main "quest" being to find out what Heath really does.
A year and a half later, Bat and Gust met a girl named Cloud trying to get into Valor. The trio continued to meet and became fast friends, and together they spent the next few years studying dragon behavior, at the same time teaching themselves how to speak the Dragon language.
