Description[]
Grace-Pitch (or just Grace) is a black MortarWing covered in glossy fur that has a sheen like obsidian. Her mane is parted down the side by her ear, so that it flows over the other side of her head in a curl. Her tail fur is long but springy with a bit of bounce to it, like it's been teased through with conditioner. Her horns are also fairly short, like a goat with a few extra prongs, and she looks strong, like she could kick serious butt. Her eyes are an ordinary cocoa brown color but glow neon green as the Muse.
She has ebony-painted claws, circular gauge earrings, a choker, wears a piercing through her septum, black lipstick, and sanukite beads on her foreleg. Most notably, her dense fur is trimmed around her legs and wings so that she can wear a studded leather jacket.
She is named after pitch, the mineral-based polymer derived from coal tar, though it is also appropriate for her line of work as she is a Muse and sings in the band Crux of Cremation with her best friend Farishta ("Freddie") the EdenWing.
(Aside: I know EdenWings didn't win the tribe contest but I don't care. I hate that I can't have both, so I will have both my cakes and eat them too.)
Personality[]
Grace-Pitch is assertive, spunky, and determined-- although her life trajectory's been a little shaky since she left behind the Abyss Ban, where she was studying music before joining Farishta's band. Everything about her screams trouble: she will get herself into danger at a moment's notice if it's for a cause that matters, and has been known to fight or scheme her way into places. She is clever and adaptable, being quick to adjust to the reality of the Pantheon, and playing down new problems with witty remarks.
Her personality is magnetic and charged with charisma, being excellent at drawing a crowd and putting on a performance. She uses her empathy and newly acquired Moss Emerald powers to help the veteran MortarWing spirits overcome their years of baggage (even before the previous Moss Emerald died). This is definitely just a little bit motivated by her life being on the line.
She has a tendency to do things solo and is initially reserved about sharing the weight of her unexpected responsibilities.
She looks like a lesbian-- which she is (although if you want to get technical, she's bisexual and in a WLW relationship)-- and she's open about that. Though not typically proactive in going out of her way to date dragons, she has brought home a few hookups before (comments by Farishta would seem to suggest that a stranger appearing in their apartment wasn't the first time).
Abilities[]
Grace-Pitch has the ordinary powers of a MortarWing, with tough fur for dampening attacks, quick healing skin, and weak fire.
However, as of Moss Emerald's mortal disguise unexpectedly dying in Grace-Pitch's apartment, she is also the new Moss Emerald. This incident causes her to absorb the spirit inside of Moss Emerald, which gives her the power to coax musical numbers out of others during emotional moments. Her eyes glow green at the beginning of a song.
AU Information[]
In Stray Gods, the Greek pantheon ("Chorus") reincarnates through eidolons, or souls which contain that god's memories. This eidolon goes into different people throughout time. Once a new mortal has the eidolon, the god's identity (and powers) are now theirs.
MortarWing spirits (the Pantheon, namely, as well as mythical spirits) take the place of the Chorus characters in this AU.

Story Overview[]
The MortarWing Pantheon accuses Grace-Pitch for the murder of Moss Emerald, who dies in her apartment by accident. Cleaned Topaz gives her one week to prove her innocence by finding the true killer, or she will be executed on trial.
Relationships[]
- Farishta- Childhood friends to lovers arc. They share an apartment
- Frost Zircon - They claim to be a spirit of wisdom and justice, but give Grace a week to prove her innocence for Moss Emerald's death and then explicitly tell her not to get involved with any authorities who could help her. Their behavior is frightening and the amount of power they wield is executive overreach, definitely.
- Burned Ruby - Burned Ruby initially does NOT like Grace-Pitch, believing she has killed Moss Emerald to steal her spirit/eidolon. However, they and Grace are able to get on better terms after a heart-to-heart battle of the bands. They also flirt a bit.
- Cleaned Topaz - Topaz is somehow always very calm and chill in spite of their job, even when Grace is yelling at them. They are a friendly face and supportive, even if they don't have much information to offer before the trial.
Trivia[]
- She is inspired by Grace from Stray Gods
- I chose Abyss Ban as her former residence/guild, since her theme song (Adrift)'s lyrics involve the imagery of dark water
