Glam is a Wings of Fire AU version of one of my non-WoF OCs. Despite the way the page is written- with them being aware of this and having intentionally entered the WoF universe- this isn't actually canon to that OC, and is just for fun. Also, weird request, but please don't draw Glam- I'm trying to avoid putting too much more WoF AU art in the OC's gallery.
Warning for bright colors and eyestrain, especially with the base ref in their gallery.
History[]
Originally from another world entirely, Glam was brought into Pyrrhia in dragon form by a SandWing animus. Arenite had paid a horrible price to gain his magic, and he was riddled with guilt from the choice he'd made. He kept away from other dragons, for the most part, but was glad to help those who approached him. He hoped it would somehow make up for what he'd sacrificed for his powers to begin with.
It was pure chance that Glam, who could watch the dragon world but was prevented from entering it by some strange force, found him. It was even more lucky for them that they could somehow speak to him, if they really tried. Maybe it was because he was already closer to breaking the world's rules than other dragons- an animus, and one that was never meant to have magic to begin with.
It didn't take much convincing (once he got over the shock of a disembodied voice from another dimension struggling to speak to him) in order for Arenite to agree that he'd do one single, simple spell for Glam: he would enchant something to give them a dragon form. One that would be, in exact words, perfect for them. And Glam already had some ideas for what would make it perfect in mind. In a way, they formed part of the spell too, as their own ideas were caught by Arenite's magic.
Arenite cast the spell, and for a moment, the air felt horribly wrong- a spell that big and that reality-altering was always going to have some sort of brief effect like that, he nervously reasoned to himself. It made sense. It would be fine in a moment. And it was, mercifully, and before long a tall dragon stood in front of Arenite, staring down at him.
He asked their name. Figuring their full name might stick out too much, they went with "Glam". They were incredibly pleased with how the spell had turned out. And amazed by how different being a dragon was to what they were used to- an actual face, with eyes and a mouth and everything! Wings, just like, attached to their body!
Arenite wondered a bit too late if he'd made the wrong choice, but pushed his doubts away. Not that it would have done him any good if he had changed his mind- part of Glam's standards for "perfect" had included being safe from a future spell banishing them from the world again. They quickly thanked Arenite and left, eager to gather more information on the dragon world and prepare for their goal:
Stealing as many famous dragon treasures as possible. They'd seen some interesting things while watching from afar. From the Eye of Onyx to the shinier IceWing gifts, Glam wanted to see how many they could get. It seemed like a fun enough way to spend time.
Appearance[]
Shiny, bright, and lanky, Glam takes more after a RainWing than their other tribes- although they do have some Silkwing and SeaWing features, such as their snout shape and their glowing scales. They're taller than many grown dragons, though not to the point that they'd have difficulty hiding if they had to.
Their main scales are usually a glossy black with slight hints of purple, except on their head, which is instead a pale antique white with a slightly different black for the top scales. Their eyes are a bright pink, and diamond shaped glowing scales run down their side, alternating between that same pink and a neon blue. These bright colors show up in multiple other spots, such as their underbelly, spines, and claws. In most, it alternates back and forth between the two like with the glowing scales, but their ruff and wing membranes instead are mostly pink with a speckled gradient towards the blue. Their horns curve slightly down at the ends and have distinct grooves in them. The right horn is pink, the left blue.
When they aren't lounging in some dramatic but impractical pose or sneaking around, Glam tends to have a more casual stance. They're unsettlingly still when they aren't actively doing something, though, and while they're expressive, it sometimes seems feigned. Probably has something to do with the fact that having a face apparently isn't normal for them. They tend to swap through different accessories often, especially necklaces- they say they could never wear them before. Sometimes they wear almost no jewelry at all, and at other times they seem covered in it. Either way, eventually it all ends up stashed away in some hidden collection.
Abilities[]
As a result of being created by magic to be exactly what they wanted, Glam has a few abilities that stick out next to the more normal ones. For the most part, it seems like these extra abilities were things they wanted for convenience, and so that they wouldn't risk being kicked out of Pyrrhia right after getting in.
They're immune to animus spells that would control them. They'd also be fine against the othermind. They generally just don't seem to require as much as a normal dragon would to survive, and they may or may not actually literally be boneless, which, if true, kind of makes one wonder how in the world they're alive at all. They're awfully lucky to be held together and created by magic.
Most importantly, though is their sort-of-immortality. Their dragon body can be injured- and destroyed. It's not even particularly hard, really. Despite their weird abilities, they're no sturdier than the average dragon. There's no magic protection from plain old stabbing or slicing or fire or anything along those lines for Glam. If anything, they may actually be a bit weaker than a lot of dragons, given that they focused on the convenience and appearance of their dragon form rather than actual strength.
However, even if their dragon form is killed, their true form- wherever it is- is presumably fine. And as another way to make sure they wouldn't be locked out of Pyrrhia again, Glam's "perfect for me" restrictions made it so that the spell allows them to eventually reappear where the spell was originally cast, good as new. After all, they're not bringing the old body back to life, so it's fine!
(Although, one thing they'd change if they could- or would have liked to have thought about to begin with- is that they'd like to switch up where they appear. If anyone knew the spot they always first appear in...couldn't they just guard that and keep them in an endless loop until they gave up on coming back? Too late now- all they can do is try their best to make sure no one figures that out.)
Personality[]
ugggh i hate personalities <3
I'm just putting down brief notes. To like. Pressure myself
- just here to steal shiny things and have fun with it.
-very self absorbed. they're included in "shiny things Glam thinks are very pretty"
-not trying to sound "haha cool sarcastic character" because like, they're terrible, but they're often insincere and sarcastic, yeah. Whether they're admittedly kind of funny sometimes or just plain mean depends on who you ask. (usually, the conclusion is "mean" if you're the one they're talking to.)
-good with putting up a nicer front than they really are at first, if needed...although if someone already knows who they are, they're likely to skip that and just head straight into "hi, I'm here to steal things and stab you". But if they CAN they really like setting up a dramatic "surprise, I'm actually here to steal things and stab you" reveal
-petty + vengeful- both over small things, and. if someone kills them, they're very, very likely to come back asap to vibe check that dragon.
-not particularly loyal- there are things and people (...dragons? maybe not actually, they don't know many dragons particularly well) that they care about, but if some stranger helped them out and then they were both in trouble, Glam would throw the stranger under the bus without a second thought.
-(on the note of "things they care about"- they're a weird friend. they do, again, actually care about their friends. but tend to be distant even then. they kind of tend to pop up every so often, be nice, give some sort of gift, then vanish again. more concerningly- while they're much more trustworthy to their friends, they don't totally trust others, friend or not, ever. This absolutely contributes to them not hanging around much.)
-...would have loved Scarlet's arena. Actually maybe they could have snuck in to see it depending on what point in the timeline they first showed up in? idk. Either way. the "oh cool bloodshed and drama" type
-will occasionally make bad choices on purpose in order to make things more interesting, ex. "slipping up" in order to get caught just to see if they can escape. while they don't like. ALWAYS do it, they like making the "game" harder for themself sometimes.
-in general they aren't very good at taking things seriously and are very "haha i wonder what happens if x?" sometimes it's as innocent as "let's make weird candy combinations", but other time it's...much more morbid. On the bright side, there are times when it's the the above mentioned making things harder for themself.
-very confident despite the above and not being that strong, but like, it's hard to say that it's unwarranted, given that they can come back from the dead if things don't work out. and given their Incredible Spite, there's a good chance they'll try to keep coming back until they can pull off exactly what they want to do (again, so so so much theft)
-you kind of have to wonder WHY they're like this but like. 1. they're still a jerk, no matter the reason!!! 2. It's hard to think about WHY when you're a dragon who knows very little of their origins before "showed up as a dragon for some reason? I don't even know what they really are" and 3: that would require even the slightest bit of genuine vulnerability from them, which will never, ever happen- whether it's because of some actual reason, that they just like being vague and impossible to work with, or a combination of both.
Relationships[]
Given that they aren't really a normal dragon and certainly didn't have the chance to spend as much time forming relationships as one would, Glam doesn't really have many distinct relationships with others in Pyrrhia.
They do, however, check up on Arenite every so often. They say it's just to say hi, and he seems to mostly accept that (albeit with a little bit of confusion and suspicion), although deep down there's more to it than just that. They wouldn't admit it, though- and certainly not to him, if he ever asked. He doesn't need to know that they're worried about him bringing one of their enemies to Pyrrhia, too, especially if he hears about what they've been doing around Pyrrhia. After all, there's no way that he'd approve of it.
Not that they'd be too concerned about his approval, if not for the possibility of him bringing someone in to stop them, of course.
Trivia[]
-They insist their full name isn't just "Glamour" or "Glamorous". It really isn't, not that they've ever bothered to explain to anyone what it actually is.
-Alongside the actual powers they got from their standards for the spell, Glam also gave themself neon pink blood. There is literally no reason for this other than that they like pink better than red.
-Their least favorite Kingdoms are the Ice and Mud Kingdoms. The Ice Kingdom is "excessively cold and drab" and the one that they have the most difficulty staying alive in. Meanwhile the Mud Kingdom is damp, messy, and the place they have the most difficuly blending in to- it's hard to stay invisible when there's mud everywhere to give you away, and while they can mimic MudWing colors they don't have the right build to match the average MudWing.
-They sleep a lot- though they refuse to do so around other dragons. Whether they're just like that or if it's because they're part RainWing and didn't think to exclude their need for plenty of rest from their spell standards...who knows.
-The normal powers they have are based on the original OC- for example, the OC in question is made partially from fairy lights, so Glam has glowing scales to reflect that.
