Appearance

A vibrant yellow flower. Delicate and small, yet unbreaking against the relentless wind. Needless to say, this is not Forsythia.

Pale silver-greens, hinted with the soft blue of gentle waves crashing against the shore. Bathed in moonlight and illuminated just so that she sparkles ever so slightly.

Her underscales are slightly lighter, evenly spaced and perfect. A soft glow. Overscales, slightly darker, as if located under a denser canopy, and her frill, a soft grey with hints of blue and green.

Dotted with scattered ponds of pale blues and murky streams of pale greens.

Beautiful.

Small and graceful she stands, a thin snout, curved horns, and a long tail. Large wings lined with scars.

Silver eyes, reflecting pain, and a longing to belong. A longing to find her way.

Personality

Life is supposed to be lived with anticipation for the next day. Hope mixed with dread. Happiness laced with despair. Not this.

Forsythia lives her days fearing the next. One mistake leads to another. If you don't fail, there is not scorn. If there is no scorn, there is no failure. Too bad she can't escape. An endless cycle. Lost, although it is the one path she has followed. Alone, although the path has been walked before.

And with this feeling of being lost, this feeling of being alone, comes entitlement. If you see yourself as the only one here, why should you be less than yourself. Pride, coming from sorrow. Sorrow, coming from pride.

From this endless cycle comes frustration. Frustration of being lost and alone. Frustration because your path drives others away. Because you drive others away. Escape is only with wings. Flight. Escape. Never.

Jealousy. Jealousy for what others have. For being able too long for the next day. For hope and escape.

Hidden behind a shower of sarcasm. Bitter words with dry laughter. The crushing feeling it gives others. How it drives them to become more like her. She doesn't want to be alone. She is afraid.

That sharp pain that comes of being useless. No purpose. Only for when others want your power. Your only hope and it is weak.

Lost, alone, afraid.

Abilities

Forsythia has weak leafspeak, which is usually controlled by her emotions. If she in angry, a thorn-bush may grow where someone is about to sit. She is a very skilled flier, easily weaving her way through the dense jungle, although this is somewhat hindered by her scars. She carries pouches filled with cactus seeds, blister beetles, and vials of Manchineel Tree sap.

Among her less obvious abilities, Forsythia is a skilled weaver, although it is an ability that she doesn't practice too often. She also has the Poison Jungle memorized, and could probably fly through it with her eyes closed.

History

Forsythia was born to Amaranth and Zanzibar. Her excellent leafspeak, inherited from her parents, made her the pride of her tribe. Her mother, Amaranth, paraded her around, letting the others marvel over her. At home, she was completely ignored by her.

Two years later, her father, Zanzibar, who had accidentally ingested a maddening plant a few days later, attacked her in a fit of madness, permanently scarring her wings. Forsythia felt betrayed as she was attacked, and after her father's death, she felt astoundingly alone.

She grew up, shutting herself away from society. She looked down upon the rest of her tribe, beginning to see them as inferior, weaker and less powerful than herself.

Her leafspeak combined with her intelligence increased this rift, as she continued to shy herself away, this time with different reasoning. Before, she had thought that she was meant to be left alone. Now, she thought that she should stay away because it was offensive to her being around lesser dragons.

When she turned seven years old, she was arranged to be married to Yarrow, another LeafWing capable of leafspeak. Upon learning of this surprise turn of events, she made it her life's mission to make his life as miserable as possible. She constantly went out of her way to slip poisonous surprises into his food and water, as well as leaving poison ivy in his nest.

She is currently flying to Phyrria to escape the Othermind.

Relationships

  • Snow-Rose: She is Forsythia's best friend, and enemy. They often go from being friendly to slipping slightly poisonous plants into each others drinks
  • Zanzibar: He was Forsythia's father. One day, he accidentally ingested a poisonous plant that caused him to go mad and become sick. During his final days, he was lost to reality, and lashed out at his daughter, scarring her wing before passing away
  • Amaranth:
  • Yarrow: Forsythia is arranged to marry him, but she thinks that he is an arrogant bonehead and his brain is made of twigs. For someone who can speak both the language of dragons and plants, he doesn't seem to understand anything.

Quotes

“If you call me 'cute' again, I will literally tie you to a Manchineel Tree”

"For someone who can speak both the language of dragons and plants, you doesn't seem to understand anything!"

Trivia

  • Loves cinnamon rolls but won't admit it
  • She somewhat admires HiveWings for having the strength and initiative to try to take over two tribes
