Just some worldbuilding for a fanon AU that I am putting here for storage and critique. I am still writing and I would prefer to post the fanfiction when I have at least completed the first third of the story.
-Erythria is the third main continent of the dragon planet. It also has a larger dragon population than Pyrrhia and Pantala. -Erythrian dragons split from the Pyrrhian tribes during the unknown and mysterious events of the Scorching, about 3,000 years ago. Due to this, they have a very different society, economy, and body structures. -The continent of Erythria is vaguely shaped like a dragon wing and stretches from the equator to the north pole. It is larger than Pyrrhia and Pantala but is less ecologically diverse. -Erythria does not have separate kingdoms and has not since the devastating events of the War of Bloods, which resulted in the five kingdoms merging their borders. -There are five tribes of Erythria:
-TalonWings -ShardWings -EarthWings -GustWings -CoastWings
-All Erythrian tribes use the same naming system. Individuals can be named after their appearance or personality and their names can be aspects of nature, adjectives, or combining multiple words to create compound names in a manner similar to Pyrrhian NightWings (ex. Brightclaws, Treeclimber, Tinywings)
-Erythrian dragons have last names that follow the same system above. Last names are passed down to offspring. When two dragons marry, traditionally the male takes the female's name; if both dragons are the same gender or neither is female, they sign a contract to decide whose last name changes.
-TalonWings are very broad, powerful dragons with short, thick horns and spines, small wings, and wide crocodile-like tails that drag along the ground behind them. They have very long, sharp claws and have to scratch things like cats do to keep them healthy. They are naturally large from hatching and have slightly shorter lifespans compared to the other tribes. TalonWings can be black, white, silver, green, and/or blue.
-ShardWings are very spiky and snake-like dragons. Their neck and tails are very long and their scales are keeled (having a ridge down the center of each scale). They have 4 horns on their heads and a row of dense, long spines down their back that get longest at the tip of the tail. Their tongues are forked and they have a very strong sense of smell. ShardWings can be almost any color, although they tend to be pastel and sticking to either warm or cool colors.
-EarthWings are similar to TalonWings in that they are very broad and powerful; however, they have a few key differences. EarthWings have shorter necks and tails than TalonWings and are the only Erythrian tribe to keep their ability to breathe fire, despite being frugivores. EarthWings also do not have horns or spikes; rather, they have a short webbed sail starting at the tip of their snout and ending at the base of their tail. Their ears are relatively large and stick upwards; their heads are very rectangular and their tusk-like teeth stick out even with their mouth closed. Their noses are very wide and they have almost pig-like snouts. (A common insult for EarthWings is hog-head.) EarthWings can be black, red, dark green, beige, and/or brown.
-GustWings are very thin, lanky, wisp-like dragons with long, translucent wings. Their bodies are very long and narrow; 2/3 of the body is neck and tail alone. Their horns are long and slightly bendy, as they are made of cartilage instead of keratin or bone. GustWings have very small, weak feet and hands but very strong wing muscles, as they spend much more of their life in the air than other dragons. They are very skilled flyers and can fly from the moment they hatch. GustWings can be white, silver, light blue, light green, light pink, and/or light violet.
-CoastWings are semi-aquatic, very fast dragons. Their bodies are very streamlined and their tails are fluked; every individual has a slightly different fluke shape and markings, some more shark-like and some more fish-like or dolphin-like. Their wings are shaped like fins and their wing membrane is somewhat thick, making it difficult and tiring for them to fly. Their heads are long and narrow and they do not have horns, spikes, or sails. Fish and seaweed are very important parts of their diets, so they usually live at coastal villages and are rarely seen past the beach. Their scales can be green, beige, yellow, cyan, and/or coral, and they tend to have patterns like spots or stripes.
