"Every beast, scavenger, and dragon is my subject, for everything and every being under the light of the sun is mine to command. I am God, I am judgement, I am Empyrean."

The self-named Empyrean is the first Queen of the SkyWings, uniting the tribe under her banner. She was born during the Scorching and was one of the leading dragons in burning down Human civilization. Using her magic she established herself as Queen of the Sky and the Goddess of Fire, and is known in legend for her divine wrath and her great power. She's also the source for most of modern SkyWing superstitions and religion.

Appearance[]

"My rule is absolute and necessary, for this realm is rife with evil and chaos, my spirit will be your salvation-for I bring the true beauty of peace and goodness to this damned land."

Empyrean was far from impressive when she was younger. As a dragonet, while her fire burned bright her hope was weak and her will broken. She had no name and none of the majesty that her subjects know her for. She was meek and fearful, preferring cower instead of fighting, this often meant she has her wings pulls protectively over her body, tail tucked in her head down. However this all changed on the fateful year the would mark the end of Human domination. The Scorching.

The dragonet, owned by a human Kingdom as a beautiful and exotic decoration-much like modern SilkWings-went about her existence as usual, hopeless and weak, not even bothering to wish. However

Coloring[]

Empyrean is mainly a creamy ivory yellow-white, with a few beige and light yellow scales scattered throughout. Her belly is a pale pink and her horns and claws are a glossy black. Her spikes start as a vivid blood red before gradually shifting to sunset orange then amber and yellow. Following an identical gradient, her irises and wings appear like a sunrise or a blazing fire. Shining through her scales regardless of whether her firescales are activated or not is a soft glow, as if a bonfire or furnace was trapped under her skin. The horn on the tip of her snout and her jawline are polished pure white.

Marks & Accessories[]

Empyrean wears numerous enchanted objects to complete her divine image, each object share an indestructible nature that negates the damage of any blow, the inability to be destroyed or dirtied, along with the inability to be removed without the wearer's permission.

Empyrean's Crown - This accessory's name is misleading, while there is a crown-like portion of the relic, it's functionally a very fancy indestructible helmet. It metal part is bright golden in color and covers the head, part of the snout, and most of the cheek. The chainmail section is burnt gold and attached to the back of the helmet and hangs around the neck when worn, golden bands wrap from edge to edge of the chainmail in order to prevent it from flapping around and appear much like necklaces. The crown part is meant to sit above the brows and has a giant ruby set in the center. Wearing it will grant the user the enough power to control the weather and the winds in proportion to their will power.

Empyrean's Earrings - One typically thinks two earrings when they hear the word earrings, like a pair, however Empyrean's earrings refer to six individual earrings-three sets. The first are the Feathered Earrings which are a set are golden studs with a square ruby embedded into them, from the studs sprout snow white feathers which appear like tiny wings that cup the shape of the ear. They are typically pierced into the upper ear. The second are the Chain Earrings which are kind of like two sets in one, a single one of these earrings come in two studs which are connected by a chain and are typically placed as far apart as possible resulting in the chains curving. The third are the Sealed Earrings which are golden chandelier earrings with intricate decals, they're tiny numerous Old Draconic prayers printing into the earring and appear like squiggles from afar. From these complex earrings hang bright red tassels. The Feather grants an ability to breathe a healing flame, the Chain grants an immunity to frost breathe and any coldness, and the Sealed grants the ability to breathe a stone melting fire no matter the conditions, even in the vacuum of space, its wearers fire with burn hot and bright.

Empyrean's Wings - This accessory is a form of wing armor that's worn on the bend of the wing. It's golden with tiny hyperdetailed feathered wings at the tip. Real snow white feathers are arranged like bird wings cover most of the rest of the armor, which spreads across most of the upper wings. Despite its ceremonial appearance, they're surprisingly effective and can double the speed of its be wearer.

Empyrean's Robe - This accessory much like Empyrean's Crown is a combination of clothes. It's a golden chest plate, a cape, a skirt, and belt all in one. They're all attached to each other an appear vaguely like a robe. The chest place protects the chest, the shoulders, and the lower neck, it's first layer is thin comfortable silk that prevents chafing, the second is the actual armor which is easy to move in with many overlapping parts, and the last and third is a layer of burnt gold chainmail that protects the chest and belly as the runs from the collar to the hips. Draped over the shoulders are snow white feathers that act as a cape, and hanging from the leather belt is a skirt of pure white feathers that hide a layer of chainmail protecting the hind and flank of its wearer. This robe grants to ability to perceive the world through any fire, no matter how small-sparks and embers count.

Empyrean's Guards - These are golden shin guards and arm guards, numerous rubies are embedded within them and the skulls of dragons are carved into them. They double the strength of their wearer. Empyrean's Tail - This accessories guards the weak spot on a dragons tail and appears as a fan of snow white feathers attached to the tail. On the bottom of this fan is a golden clasp embedded with rubies that attached to the tail. This grants the wearer supernatural grace, agility, balance, and swiftness on land or in the sky and sea, dragons that possess it can pull of impossibly dangerous maneuvers and move precisely like ancient martial art practitioners who've mastered their bodies.

Weaknesses:

  • God Complex - Empyrean has probably the biggest God Complex in all of Pyrrhia, she's convinced herself that she's genuinely a god given flesh. This could be a strength, as she is undeniably confident in her identity, with an unbreakable will, making her nearly impossible to emotionally manipulate. However, this also makes her quite predictable and limited, she refuses to give herself powers that 'aren't in her domain', and she's easily offended, since anything she sees as an affront to her divinity angers her (which is anything that doesn't fit her vision of a perfect world...)
  • Stubbornness - If she doesn't want to do something, she won't do it, even if that 'something' is arguably the logical, most beneficial, correct reason. This weakness is most prominent in the SkyWing Kingdom's foreign relations. Due to her God Complex and her stubbornness, no tribe is allied to the SkyWings.
  • War Monger - She loves direct combat and shows of strength, as she views such acts as art and what true beauty is. However this doesn't mean she's stupid, she's aware of the value of stealth, assassinations, sabotage, and guerilla warfare. She won't cripple her own army by banning them from cloak and dagger activities, however she is predictable and exploitable in some situations.

Trivia[]

  • her name is a reference to the Empyrean Heaven, also known as Empyreal or the Empyrean. It's from ancient European cosmologies and is inspired by Aristotle. Supposedly, it's the place in the highest heaven, and is occupied by the element of fire. This reference both her firescales, her animus magic, and her divine, royal status.
  • While she herself doesn't use the pronouns it/its, she accepts the use of them when others refer to her. She views it as acknowledgement of her divinity since God(dess)s are beings far greater than any mortal dragon. She also accepts being referenced as both God and Goddess since divinity is divinity, her gender isn't relevant to he holy status.
