Revision as of 00:02, 20 January 2017

Zoi is going to be revamped soon due to SwiftWing updates. She will be changed quite a bit, most likely, so don't be too surprised if everything's a bit different.

Personality

With her harsh past, she is incredibly shy and scared of everything. She doesn’t want to make friends, because she doesn’t want to loose them, although she want dragons to be friendly with her, and not hurt her. Even with her fear of others, she tries to be nice. She loves knowing someone is happy because of her, anyway. Many dragons think she’s constantly plotting an evil plan, when she’s always silently wishing no one will hurt her. Too bad for her.

Appearance

She has a wiry build, like a thin DeathWing, but a (DeathWing transparent) scale structure of a SwiftWing. Her scales are pure black, some spots of white from her mother, on her face, along her arms/legs, torso, wings, tail. Her white scales aren't transparent and are tougher than the transparent black ones. With her mother being a SwiftWing, she has a noticeable sea-green stripe along her side. She also has a dark brown mane and tail that are close to black, with streaks of sea-green, the same shade of her stripe. Her eyes are a deep brown with green outer edges, and a regular black pupil. Her eyes glow deep blue when controlling Aerokinesis and Hydrokinesis. Zoi’s mask is black, but small, deformed, and revealing around her eye holes and any holes, but she keeps it on, or tries to, but Midet has said it has fallen off in her sleep and she looks like a normal SwiftWing, probably due to her hybrid-ness. Her tongue is black.

Abilities

Zoi can see well in the dark, and almost can’t tell the difference between light and dark because DeathWings and SwiftWings can both see well in darkness. She can hear and smell quite well, too. She can use Hydrokinesis and the smallest bit of Aerokinesis, but she only uses them sometimes because she can be incredibly wiped out by using them. Zoi can barely breathe poison gas without hacking or coughing up. Sometimes gets “acid reflux,” making her throat stronger, pointed foods or sticks can’t make her bleed in her throat, nor can fire nor frost breath hurt her on the inside. She has weaker scales than DeathWings, slightly stronger in white scales.

History (If you like a lot of reading, here you go!)

Five years before the war ended (because it takes a year for an egg to develop), an unknown SwiftWing stumbled upon Skull Island, lost from her Weather Patrol. She fell in love and she and a DeathWing had a single egg (or more, but Zoi might never know). It wasn’t long after when the DeathWing went missing, never returning from a hunting trip. Fearing the worst, the SwiftWing fled to the present day SwiftWing territory, near the Diamond Spray River. Although, throughout the struggle, the mother got sick and tried to take care of her Death/SwiftWing hatchling. The mother tried to teach her hatchling everything, including how much she loved her hatchling. Zoi remembers some of her mother’s teachings, but no matter how hard she tries, Zoi can’t remember the names of her bold parents. She barely remembers her original name, Newhope, for a reason she can’t remember, but she went with her new one that a SwiftWing gave her… The SwiftWing one day left her hatchling and didn’t come back, and never did. Most dragons would assume that she would die, if not for the luck of the one-year-old dragonet being able to find fruits, fallen down on the forest. Usually, she would have turned down the juicy treats from her father’s side, but when you’re alone and starving, you’ll have to eat what you can.

For years, the little dragonet had to hide from other dragons at war, but she wasn’t able to escape a MudWing troop that brought her food, occasionally, and taught her to speak, until they were relocated to a different part of the kingdom for the war. Zoi can barely remember the MudWings either, but if she meets them again, she’s sure to remember them.

Right before the war ended, Zoi saw the devastation of death and pain for the first time. The MudWing and IceWing battle that happened over the MudWings' home terrified her. She had never seen anything like war, and she had hated the idea of killing anything ever since.

When she turned three, the war ended, and the SwiftWings returned to the mainland. A young, six-year-old, SwiftWing dragonet, found her. Midet called her Zoi, which means life in Greek, because she eluded death and didn’t seem at all like a DeathWing. He brought the dragonet food and taught her a bit of Hydrokinesis, until his teachings were demoted to Terrakinesis. He stopped when he learned it exhausted her. No one taught Zoi how to fly, but he helped her, and when he was away, she would lift herself up with what she would learn was Aerokinesis. Any type of telekinesis exhausted her, though. She would gain extreme fatigue in using telekinesis for more than a few minutes.

Before her next hatching day, Zoi was found. SwiftWings took her in, thinking she was a normal SwiftWing with patterned scales. When they discovered her main hybrid deformity: her mask, they started to study her. They decided against taking off her mask for studying, but tried to get her to give them her poison so they could avoid Zoi hurting anyone. They couldn’t get any poison breath from her, so they tried to gag her. After a great deal of hacking (which she sometimes did when she lived secluded), the SwiftWings found a bit of poison, but it was just more like stronger acid reflux. They squeezed her talons for the poison in them, to no success.

With no parents, Zoi lived at the school, waiting for a tutor to wake her up and continue teaching her. They taught her hydrokinesis so she could control her poison if it did come out. It was still incredibly exhausting for the hybrid to use her powers, though. She continued to practice aerokinesis, privately, but sometimes she would go to Midet's cave, to just be with one of the only dragons that didn’t give her a dirty look as they passed each other.

One thing that really got under Zoi’s scales was when dragons criticized her creativity. She could sing well, and play many different instruments from not having many distractions. If she sung or played an instrument in a room by herself, a SwiftWing might have walked in, see who it was, then leave, or insult her. She could sculpt well, letting herself get exhausted from telekinetically carving. This was usually when she was bullied. When she couldn’t fight back with her weak fighting style and no telekinesis, they’d smash her work or start to hurt her when she exhausted herself.

Midet was a dragonet that didn’t need anyone offending him, or saying he was lazy when he was actually one of the most hard working dragons Zoi knew. Midet and Zoi were the only real friends each other had. Dragons would always tease Midet. But when it came to Zoi, they’d trip her in the halls, throw things at her, or worse. Once, a couple dragonets a few years older than her tied her up and left her half in the Diamond Spray River, after dropping her “accidentally” on the way there. Midet found her later that night, almost drowned, freezing, and terrified for her life. Zoi couldn’t push herself out with her powers because how do you do something that exhausts you when you are struggling for breath, and thrashing to be free? Ever since, she has been terrified of dragons holding ropes or chains, or being close to water with dragons nearby.

Zoi has had so many terrible fears. She only feels safe when Midet is right next her. None of the other dragons had helped her with this. Some adult SwiftWings would say kind things to her, but it made her feel as if they wanted to trick her.

After two years of bullies and prejudices, Midet graduated at eight years old. Midet took responsibility for his best friend. He pulled her out of school at to teach her anything else she needed to know. They left the SwiftWing Kingdom so Zoi could meet dragons and hopefully regain a sense of trust.

Zoi’s only intentions are to try and find the only dragons that were nice to her. She thinks about going back to Skull Island to look for her father, or to the Mud Kingdom to find those MudWings that fed her and taught her to speak. She thinks her mother could be dead, but she’d love to find her one day, as well. But all Zoi wants at the moment is for her and Midet to be safe.

Trivia

  • She was inspired by Midet, when I wasn't sure if I wanted a SwiftWing or DeathWing.
  • Her name was going to be Dream, in Greek, but it was too hard to pronounce.
  • She was originally named Newhope by her mother.
  • The MudWing troop that found her might be in another fanfic I'm planning on writing.
  • I'm more likely than not writing a fanfic about her and Midet.
