WIP character for Fear’s AU! Please do not touch!!
Here’s my idea.
Derecho was a SkyWing whose egg was stolen by humans shortly before he hatched. There had been a very strong storm when he was stolen from his parents, and they assumed the worst when they couldn’t find him. He hatched under that very storm, and as a result had dark bluish grey scales with electric blue lighting markings. The humans saw his scales as a sign of what his true strength could become, so they trained him to become a soldier. “Your parents abandoned you, and we saved you. Humans are your real family.” is what they drilled into his head over and over until it became a part of him. He grew up only knowing training, drills, and punishments, and he was taught to be thankful for what the humans were doing for him. The humans decided to keep training him when the Scorching started, and only when they started loosing did they send him into battle.
Derecho fought and won many battles, but he didn’t come out of them unscathed. He lost his left eye to RainWing venom, and a MudWing easily snapped off his right horn after it got hit by frost breath. Those marks only made him more intimidating to the humans’ enemies, and fear always washed over the battlefield when he showed up.
It wasn’t until late in the war that Derecho was taken down. He encountered a SkyWing couple on the battlefield and froze when he heard the female’s voice. It broke something loose in his brain, and he remembered it was his mother’s. She had spoken to him while he was in his egg, and he remembered how much she said she loved him and couldn’t wait to meet him. His eyes locked with hers, and before either could say anything, he was stabbed in the back by a bunch of IceWing spikes. He fell to the ground, his parents flying down after him. His mother managed to get him to a med tent, and only one healer was willing to help him. She saved his life, and later became his mate.
Once his wounds healed, Derecho explained his story to the dragons and begged them to allow him to fight for them and try to make up for his wrongs. They reluctantly agreed to let him fight since they were loosing and needed someone as strong as him, but told him that they would kill him if they found out he was lying or trying to betray them. He agreed with their terms and fought his hardest in the war. He saved many lives, and the dragons who once feared him actually started to see him as a hero.
Derecho survived the rest of the war and made it to Pyrrhia with only a few extra scars than he had before meeting his parents. He asked the healer who saved his life to become his mate, and together they had two beautiful daughters and a handsome son who was hatched under a similar storm his father was.
