Appearance[]

Cremare is a dark purple-red color between bruise-purple and wine-red. She has a nonchalant countenance and often wears a mask of disinterest and boredom. Despite this, a general air of tiredness and even grief still manages to permeate the air around her.

Her eyes are a sulphureous yellow and sport large eye bags, though it’s hard to spot given her dark scales. The nearly-white red-pink spikes on her back are longer than average for a SkyWing, and her twisting ashy white horns are covered scratches. Her claws used to be white but are now a dull ash black.

Cremare’s belly and wings are the same light pink, and she has a long winding tail and enormous wings. The muscles of her arms, back, and chest are rather impressive despite her seemingly passive if depressing occupation, and they are usually kept close to her body, a habit engrained from her job as a cremator which left her in a tight furnace room for hours at a time.

Marks & Accessories[]

Cremare has leather straps on each horn where different types of masks and goggles can be strapped to. She can also occasionally be found wearing a many-pocketed apron and gloves. A stretched burn scar in the shape of dragonet sized talons can be found on the topside of her right wing.

The soles of her talons and her forearms are completely black due to the copious amounts of ash and charcoal that are stuck between her scales.

History[]

Cremare and her twin were born to a SkyWing couple a year after Peril’s birth. Since Queen Scarlet already had one Firescale she felt no need for another potential disaster and ordered the death of Cremare’s sibling. Cremare watched in horror as her sister died under the Executioner’s Axe.

Since then, she spent her time in the orphanage, with a festering anger at the society around her. Her lack of fire made her a source of ridicule and as the SandWing Succession War grew ever hungry for more blood, she took the chance to leave. Unfortunately, or fortunately to some, her lack of fire made her a poor candidate for Scarlet’s army, but she was able to find a job as many able-bodied dragons had left the Sky Kingdom to fight.

Despite this, only the poorest quality jobs would accept her due to her condition, which left her with the options of being a cremator, a corpse collector, a sewage cleaner, a miner, or a garbage collector. At the time Cremate believed being a cremator would be to most dignifying, and it also had the bonus of being the best paying one-which should’ve warned her of what she was getting into.

The job has been a source of misery and grief for her, as she usually takes the brunt of angry fathers, daughters, mothers, sons, sisters, brothers, friends, and many more. Few of her coworkers respect her, and the never-ending tragedies of war, gore, and tears have worn her down.

Though over time, a mutual acknowledgment between her and the others in the graveyard developed and there was a sort of solidarity that formed from a shared suffering. War ended with the help of the Dragonets of Destiny, and when the news reached them, there was palpable relief that seemed the relieve most of them of the metaphorical weight on their backs. However, many of her coworkers soon left, and eventually it was only her left. Of course they taught her their skills on the way out, but Cremare couldn’t help but feel the bitter anger at being abandoned.

Deep inside, Cremare knew that it wasn’t justified, they had their own lives, and as less bodies came in, Cremare knew that there would be enough income to support that many dragons, but the fact every single one of them left cut her deeply. They deserved to move on from this dark chapter of their life, but she just wishes she could too.
