history
grew up in a high ranking tempestwing family, very close to being nobility. his whole family were generals and other high-ranking soldiers who won many awards and accomplished many things. he was indoctrinated into the fighting during the war of sandwing succession. he was promoted rapidly in no small part due to his family ties. he was efficient and deadly, a genius strategist, but his loyalty to the tempestwing queendom wavered. the ruthless and bloody nature of the battles he fought in carved away at his soul.
he attempted to defect on a dark summers night. overcast, realizing he could be a threat to the queendom by leaking confidential secrets to the enemy, attempted to kill him for his disloyalty. running away was an act of treason. she fought viciously, and cirrostratus let her. he didn't want to hurt his once close friend, he didn't want to perpetuate this violence.
still, overcast brought up the event to her superiors. he was officially exiled for high treason.
after the attempted murder, he fled. he didn't know where he could go, he just flew quickly and quietly away from any battles or settlements. and even through his severe injuries, he flew and flew. eventually he was caught up in a thunderstorm, the air currents tossed him around in the rolling dark clouds to the aviwing kingdom. by pure luck, he wasnt thrown into the dark sea. instead, he landed hard on the sandy shore, by the house of one lonely aviwing.
for the first few days of his recovery, he was incoherent and dazed. this aviwing stranger had taken him in, given him medicine and treated his wounds. stratus couldn't make out a word they said, but they were surprisingly gentle. no-one in his life had been this gentle with him.
when he came to, he learned the strangers name. merot, a pearl diver living alone. they were charming and funny and took care of him for reasons stratus couldn't fathom. merot just said it was because he was lonely. he thought there was something more to it, but he couldn't place it. it was a feeling he'd never felt before.
when the truth became obvious, that stratus would not be able to fly for months at least, they decided he could hide out there for much longer. the aviwings living in the nearby small town would not be kind to a large, scary stranger. especially if they knew he was an exiled criminal wanted for treason, no matter how inflated those charges were. stratus still suspects overcasts guilt over the event made her exaggerate those charges...
cirrostratus and merot are in a tense limbo of messy feelings. oh boy...
personality
reserved and shy, timid from his trauma. opens up and is really caring.
appearance
dark scales the color of a stormcloud at night. bluish undertones. his transitional scales and wing-stripes are a glowing periwinkle baby blue. hes very tall and lanky, thin and muscular from combat. he has many faded scars, as well as his recent ones. there are scarred-over tears in his large steel grey wings. some of the thin hollow bones are broken as well. multiple claws are broken and twisted, making a lot of fine motor skills difficult. his soft blue eyes are big an expressive.
