Chord (Main/Hunger Games timeline)

Backstory/history[]

As a dragonet, Chord grew up in the Night District without a family. That was somewhat common, so she lived with an adoptive family. She couldn't complain about that, right? That was one of the best Districts! WRONG. The Nightwings are Careers, meaning they train to be in the games until they're ten.

Her brother had died in an accident a year before the 20th games were held. After years of training, regret, and tears falling away, the reaping for the 20th games were held. "Ladies first!" Rose Quartz, the announcer for half of the Districts said, smiling. The name at the bottom of the bowl was a seven year old. And Chord was that seven year old. Nobody had volunteered for her, thinking that she would want to do this.

The tributes that year were horrifying. After 15 had been wiped out dead, Chord and two groups of two had been left. She would stay low. She tricked the two Icewings' who were in the group to kill the Mudwing in the other group. Then, the Rainwing killed on of the Icewings, and then died while killing the other. The trickery involved was something quite rare to see, nonetheless something to see done right.

Chord, for two years after being named the Victor for the 20th games, lived life in the Night District like a queen. But guilt kept on echoing inside her heart for what she had done. So, she decided to be the head Gamemaker for the 23rd games.

The 23rd games were normal, leaving Cornhusk, a male Leafwing, to be Victor. Something about that fiery, never-give-up sort of personality made Chord seem to think of something. Once again, she decided to be the head Gamemaker for the 24th games.

Chord walked in with some familiar faces. Tracorii and Jasper. Tracorii was a Gamemaker for the 21st, 23rd, and the 24th, and he was the head Gamemaker for the 22nd games. Jasper, on the other hand, she had seen (and interacted with) out in the city. But as these two were working on the arena, traps, and everything else, Chord saw something in Jasper. She saw the reason he was there. He was there... to protect his family. It was something Chord could never do, considering she didn't have any true family. That was the thing that made her love him.

Now, one thing that really messed up Chord and all her relationships with other dragons was the fact she was a bit of an alcoholic. Multiple times during the games, when she was head Gamemaker, she would leave the control room just to heavily drink. It helped her feel better, but it wasn't the best solution. Jasper helped her a bit, but nothing will stop her from taking a drink once in a while.

The games weren't very interesting that year, but it left a very odd tribute to be victor. Banana the Rainwing. It was so confusing, but it was done.

Chord and Jasper grew closer and closer, becoming partners. One day, as they were just out and about together, something that was unexpected happened. Jasper proposed to Chord. The two got married, confirming what the public had thought.

After their marriage, Chord had laid two eggs. After the first had hatched Coal, the second never did. Chord tried being patient, but when they went to the hospital to check what was going on with the egg, they found out it hadn't survived. The dragonet had died in the egg.

Chord was insanely sad and depressed, and she hardly left her room. She thought and said things that made Jasper very sad and uncomfortable, but she got through it. The two ended up having another egg, making Chord very scared of what could happen. But after deciding to have routine check-ups with the nurses and the doctors, they knew it would end up better than last time.

The 25th games were about to happen, leaving everyone anxious to as what would happen at the first Quell. Chord and Jasper hated to have to be Gamemakers, but they knew if they wanted to keep their families safe, they would have to continue their jobs.

Appearance[]

Chord is very... odd. Most dragons think that she's not a pure-bred Nightwing, when in reality, she is. Her main scales are are very dark navy color, but at the tip of her tail is a strawberry pinkish-red color, and her talons have a lilac color on them. She has grey patches on her arms, legs, and wings. Some scales on her face are blue, but most are lilac. The membranes of her wings are a blue and light purple stripe pattern. She has strawberry pink spikes and blue horns. One of her eyes is a light teal, the other being a darker greenish color; the inside of her ears is a lilac/blue ombre.

Personality[]

Chord is very sweet to most dragons she comes across, but beware, this little dragon is pretty crafty! She knows how to trick and persuade, to confuse and escape easily. She thinks the whole ordeal of 'revenge' is really odd, for reasons unknown. Getting on her bad side, though, isn't a good idea for you.

She's pretty lovable, but she doesn't fall for people easily. It was odd for her to like Jasper, but she loves him and their dragonets.

Relations[]

Jasper (INSANELY Positive) - Chord loves her husband, and is happy to have him. The two are seemingly inseparable.

Coal (VERY Positive) - Chord loves her son a lot, and is happy she and Jasper were blessed with him.

Ametrine (VERY Positive) - Chord loves the egg that holds her daughter. She hopes that she hatches safely, unlike the other egg that was in the same clutch as Coal's.

Kaen (Positive) -  Kaen may not be the friendliest, but Chord is happy to have her on the team. Though she may be a bit clumsy, the two seem to be good company

Tracorii (Positive) - Tracorii is a good friend of Chord's, and they joke around saying that he would be a good uncle for Coal and their future dragonet (Ametrine).

Rose Quartz (Neutral) - While Rose Quartz was the one who put Chord into the games, Quartz never directly did things to Chord. As they've warmed up to each other over the years, they haven't had many problems with each other.

Crab (Negative) - There aren't enough words to explain how much Chord dislikes Crab. He's very rude and obnoxious, and most of her team can agree with her on that.

President Sumac (VERY Negative) - While his external appearance shows a kind, elderly yet completely capable dragon, his ruthless, cutthroat personality is something he uses too often on the Gamemakers and those who are in high authority, as well.

Extra[]

  • She is a victor of the 20th Hunger Games
  • She was seven when she won her games
  • She has been the Head Gamemaker of the 23rd and the 24th Hunger Games
  • She was the youngest Gamemaker in history
  • I feel like she'd sound like Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) from the Hunger Games or Sakura Haruno (Chie Nakamura) from Naruto

Chord (Canon Timeline)

Backstory/history[]

Chord grew up in the Nightwing village with her parents and her younger brother, Owl. She lived a pretty peaceful life, with the occasional bully. She was enrolled in a school with other Nightwings and Rainwings when she turned five, opening up a gate to her imagination. She met new dragons, like Glitter and Sunriser, who are her best friends, that helped make her who she is! The help and support of her teachers, family, and friends make her proud and happy to know that she's welcome here, no matter what.

Appearance[]

Chord looks the same as she does in the Hunger Games timeline, except she doesn't have her token (the feather anklet). She has her stripey wing membranes and her black and strawberry ombre tail. Her paws and her face are her signature lilac color, and her horns and spike still shine! She has her patches of grey-silver colors that shine under the sun. Her eyes are still that beautiful, heterochromized teal and evergreen colors.

Personality[]

Unlike the Hunger Games timeline, she isn't very crafty. If anything, she's quite predictable. She's still very kind, and insists on doing things for other dragons. Chord crumbles a bit under stressful situations, but she does know when to say 'yes' and when to say 'no'. []

Relations[]

Glitter (Positive) - Along with Sunriser, Glitter is one of Chords best friends! The two dragonesses hang out with each other all the time, and treat each other like siblings!
Sunriser (Positive) - Sunriser, despite his strong, prideful demeanor, is truly a sweetheart (and a bit of a wimp!) inside. Chord thinks of him as one of the coolest dragons in the world, besides Glitter, of course.
Sharpshooter (Positive)- Chord has a strong bond with her father, and loves him very much. She has a hard time imagining a world without him
Owl (Positive)- Owl is one of Chord's favorite people. She loves him, and would put her life on the line to keep him safe.
NightStrider (Neutral)- While she loves her mother, they're not very close. NightStrider is usually away for her work, meaning she doesn't get to spend time with her family.

Extra[]

  • Chord has three colors (not counting black/grey), and an actual chord is a set of notes composed of three notes that harmonize with each other
  • Chord has a pet parrot named Arrow
  • Chords brother was hatched exactly one week after her third hatching day
  • Her family doesn't exist in the Hunger Games timeline ;-;

Neither does her friends!
