Capybara - She/her - Straight - MudWing - Messenger
“SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION!” —Capybara, lighting a bush on fire to get it out of the way.
About[]
Capybara is a spunky MudWing who is usually very energetic and excited. She gets easily attached to anyone, and her heart is easily broken. She can have a soft side, however, and can be very thoughtful and sensitive. She currently has a crush on Fire Pear.
History[]
(TW for death and mentions of suicide)
Capybara was hatched with a huge family. Her mother was a reputable rice farmer, and Cap had eighteen other siblings that she never got to know very well. Capybara, however, was hatched with a twin sister, Dust. Capybara was hatched with a special scale type called “Mosscales”. Her scales were damp and wet, and plants easily grew on her back and around her. She also had too much fire for an average MudWing, being able to breathe it at any time, anywhere. This caused many accidents as a dragonet, as she could easily accidentally breathe a stream of superheated fire on to one of her siblings whenever she sneezed.
Dust and Capybara grew up as spectacular friends. Dust had no fire, and dry, crackly scales with a dirty, wind-burnt tan color and crystal blue eyes. Everything was doing fine . . . Until Darkstalker took over the NightWing kingdom.
Capybara was too curious. She snuck out one night and flew as fast as she could to meet this mysterious dragon who supposedly could grant wishes. Little did she know, Dust was following behind her. Capybara covered herself in dark, almost black mud, and walked among the NightWings, wanting to get a chance to get powers or some kind of blessing.
Darkstalker saw her, and called her over. After telling her in private that he saw right through her disguise, but envied her spunk and bravery, decided to grant her an animus gift—for a price, of course. Capybara didn’t care what it was, she just wanted to be cool like a NightWing, or have some sort of special ability that didn’t wreak havoc, and maybe could help her sister.
Capybara wished for a cuff (not something permanent) that would never break, and let the wearer change into a dragon of any tribe they would like. Darkstalker did so, and all the while, Dust was watching. Darkstalker asked that she pay him back with a little bit of herself; her soul. Capybara, being a naive dragonet, quickly agreed.
Little did she know, Darkstalker simply wanted her soul to create another dragon . . . He took a bit of Capybara’s soul that day, hiding it away inside a glass necklace that he hid in the palace.
After that, Capybara left, taking with her the cuff, and leaving behind a gap in her soul that would grow over time. After that, things seemed to return to normal. Aside from a few shape-shifting escapades, Capybara stayed under the radar and hid the cuff well enough. Soon, both Capybara and Dust were thinking about going to the fabled Jade Mountain Academy.
The twins both enrolled in the school, and both were quickly accepted. Dust however felt scared and alone with a winglet, and separated from her sister. Capybara made fast friends with most of her winglet, (including an interesting hybrid named Blacksail) and started to see Dust less and less.
During this time of drifting apart, Dust confessed to Capybara that she knew what Darkstalker had given Capybara, and tried to take the cuff from her, pleading that it was for her own good. In a moment of selfish anger, Capybara yanked the cuff away from her and shoved her frail sister into a wall. Dust ran off, crying, leaving Capybara alone with the enchanted item she hurt her sister for.
Capybara started to get worried. Her winglet, the Citrine Winglet, had seen most if not all of Dust’s winglet (The Platinum Winglet) every day to every other day, but hadn’t seen Dust.
One day, the day after Capybara had finished her final exams, she found Dust. Dust was laying dead on the side of the mountain, beneath the window of her cave. After an investigation was pursued, everyone was sure Dust had leaped from the window, to her death.
Capybara was heartbroken. Her best friend—her sister—her twin was dead. She wanted nothing more than to see her again. But . . . She couldn’t. So, after she graduated, Capybara shape shifted into the tribe she had been idolizing for her whole dragonethood—A NightWing—and ran away.
Capybara, now as Dungeonmaster the NightWing, tried to erase her past self. She lived in the Rainforest for a time, making new friends here and there, and she started delivering messages. Capybara found that she loved giving people letters, and seeing the looks on their faces when they received a note from a long-lost lover, or a message from a friend overseas. Eventually, Capybara stopped hiding. She told her closest friends who she really was, but decided to keep it a secret for now. She started delivering messages all over the continents, and soon met Messagebringer—a dragon who had been enchanted by Darkstalker as well.
Capybara instantly figured out his real name and got him to spill his past, and let him use her as a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear if he needed help. Fire Pear and Capybara became close quickly, and she developed a crush on him, though she wasn’t quite sure if he liked her back. He is also the only person besides her other friends who she told about the cuff, and uses it to become a SkyWing when delivering letters.
Capybara now travels with Messagebringer, delivering messages around the globe.
Description[]
Capybara has mossy brown scales with dusty green spines and plated scales. Some of her scales fade to a light green in places, and a light blue/green in places. Her wings are larger than average, with a clay brown-red underside with splatters of blue/green in places. Her scales are damp, and vines crawl along her scales, with moss in places. She grows a small bonsai tree on her back, and it is her pride and joy.
