"Better late then never."

Burial • He/Him; Ne/Nim • Pixel Flag Male • 24+HY • Mud x Night • Pixel Flag Questioning • Former Council Member/Leader

Burial, also referred to as Ghostrial post mortem, was a male Mud-Night hybrid, and a leading figure on Pretamar. Ne was killed during a coup, however did not pass on fully, existing as a ghost, invisible to the common eye.

APPEARANCE

Thin limbs, broad shoulders, and a thick tail, Burial's proportions were rather off. His face was more squareish yet thin, and proportionally small to the body. The neck wasn't very long. The scale pattern was closer to that of a MudWing.

His main scales were brown with a yellow belly, and black accents as well as darker limbs, and similar stripes to Lotor's on his tail and back. He had smooth straight horn, and sharp yellow eyes. Burial had some light fur on his back, primarily on the front part, not having it extent further than his hips. Claws and spikes were the same yellowish white as his horns.

Ghostrial (the specter version) retains all the same traits as his living counterpart safe for a couple details. Part of his brown fur has become white, and there is a large scar on his chest.

PERSONALITY

Pre Revolution

As a dragonet Burial was a pacifist, a believer of freedom, who preferred to solve conflict with negotiations just as his dad always did. But he wasn't morally perfect, willing to trick and scam dragons to obtain the peace he wished for. Even though he was still young, he displayed charisma and good leadership skills, aiding him with getting a good position in the political field way before he was even of age. Burial was cocky and self-assured to the outside, but behind that facade was a perpetually stressed dragonet, who lost his childhood to the complicated world of politics. However, when you ask dragons how they remember their funny friend, they wouldn't exactly mention any of those things. Maybe they would mention his aura of arrogance, and also his dream of a peaceful Pretamar. But the thing they remembered the best was Burial's tendency to come late. .better late than never!" Dragons used to laugh about it. Back then it was nothing but a harmless quirk.

Revolution

Involvement in the war changed Burial, just as it changed many. The dragon started to spiral down in a pit of self doubt and a fear of abandonment. Because so many people had forsaken him, Burial felt that everybody else will also leave him in the end, and that Burial is alone in this world, that even his siblings didn't like him. This was furthered after he didn't manage to save his father and sister, blaming himself and his lateness.

Burial's trust issues led to him being controlling towards the few friends he had, hoping they wouldn't leave him. His allies probably only joined Burial because of a collective goal - to take down the dictator of Bergingen (?) - or at least that was what he made himself believe. Even though his mental state worsened, the young dragon tried to deny it vehemently.

In the end the dragon known for his peaceful ways, strayed away from those, willing to even harm allies if they were in his way.

ABILITIES

  • Tribal: Burial breathes a yellowish flame with a garlic like scent. Definitely not normal fire. He can hold his breath, and profits from bathing in mud. His strength is more on the level of an average NightWing, though he does have his cunning to make up for that.
  • Ghostrial: As a spirit, Burial is able to phase through objects. He can't properly touch them nor move them, however does have a sensation of doing so, and if he 'touches' a dragon, they are able to feel it too. Burial is invisible to the normal folk, but mindreaders can notice his presence, as well as any medium.

RELATIONSHIPS

Lotor

  • neutral | sib

Things had been complicated between the brothers. Initially the entire family was hardly separable, but when Burial started to get involved in Pretamar's political affairs just like nis father, and changed, he drifted away from his sibs. Lotor fled the continent, refusing to be part of any war, and seeing Burial changing this much. Burial regretted many things, and despite arguing a lot with Lotor, missed xem a lot.

SYNOPSIS

In the dawn of Pretamar, which hadn't even been a place open to the public until a century ago, a country was founded with the foundation of freedom for its citizen and the opportunity to choose a ruler of their fitting instead of following a traditional royal family line. But even in a country like this conflict existed, mostly with the neighbours, who also wanted to establish themselves.

The father of Lotor, Burial and the others bore an important position in that country's leadership. Being hybrids, the dragonets hadn't been abandoned as per MudWing tradition, although their parents weren't necessarily the most caring out there, making the kids mostly do everything on their own. With their father's position, and his interest in getting a good job for his children, they had been exposed to his job from early on. Most of the dragonets showed no interest in politics, but Burial was different.

Before being able to hold any position, Burial had to go to school. Though constantly coming late, he still did well, and always was present for tests. He was often scolded for his lateness, but even when he tried to leave earlier, Burial still managed to show up later than sooner, but at least he showed up at all, sometimes injured or with a new friend.

Though the country was democratic, and the leader had been rightfully elected, many dragons, including Burial's father were sceptical about their leadership. Turmoil arrised, and dragons formed a new nation that should oppose the now corrupted Bergingen (?). Burial obtained a leading position in the revolution.

As tensions worsened, and enemy troupes kept getting into conflict with the new country's people, Burial and his siblings were pulled into the army having to fight the corrupted regime. Some chose to flee out of the country, initially coming in the hopes of freedom, and some were lucky enough to leave the continent. Burial was determined to win this fight.

Burial with his position lead a squadron, but during the fight some of his own people betrayed him. As the battalion tried to push in so they could negotiate, they were attacked by enemy troupes, who had been warned beforehand by the traitors. Help arrived but many members were lost, ending in a loss for the rebellion.
