The Mindsplit AU and Blackblood belong to Arcadian Solitude.[]
A tall male Night/LostWing hybrid, with distant IceWing blood. He has no wings and a lean build. On his neck and tail, he has a thick coat of fur. His scales are a dark black, and in certain lighting some glow silver. The fur on his neck, spine, and tail is a similar shade to his scales, but slightly darker. His underside is a light silver color. The horn sticking out from his forehead is a dark blood red, inherited from his mother. Blackblood is a smaller dragon, not much larger than a 7 year old dragonet. The only accessories he wears is a deep, jewel red silk cape over his back that flows when he walks, curling around his body and looking like clouds of scarlet ink. He is the Overseer of the Stonefang Pass, a large mountain to the north of the Sky Palace.
History[]
Blackblood's story takes place about 300 years after the events of Book 15 (subject to change after release). Dragons and humans have successfully defeated the Breath of Evil, and now live in peace and harmony. After hundreds of years, hybrids have become so commonplace that the queens fear there will no longer be any pure blooded dragons left. Eventually, the SkyWing Queen, Brimstone, outlaws any and all hybrids in her kingdom. A law is instituted that says all hybrids seen in the kingdom will be killed on sight. Blackblood isn't particularly fond of this new law, and finds the Staff of Splitting, an ancient relic that predates the Scorching. The Staff separates the two halves of a hybrid into two different dragons, each representing different aspects of the original. But every time it is used, it makes the user slightly more corrupt...
His egg washed up in a small woven basket on the shores of the rebuilt Night Kingdom. Blackblood was named and raised by Jury and Brimstone, an ex-soldier NightWing couple. His two fathers drilled him on how to defend himself against Anti-Hybrid attacks. Even without wings, he managed to succeed very well in the kingdom. He caught the attention of Queen Brightstar and was taken into the palace at a young age. Brightstar treated him as the token mystery hybrid, which Blackblood hated. When the SandWing queen first declared the new Hybrid laws, Brightstar adopted her views, and was secretly plotting to have Blackblood killed in his sleep. When he found out about this, he broke into the treasury and stole multiple ancient treasures and artifacts, including the Staff of Splitting.
