appearance

Bay is, physically, an ordinary MudWing. His mainscales appear to have been dusted with gingerbread crumbs, and the scales along his spine, from the tip of his snout to the end of his tail, seem to have been drenched in chocolate. His underbelly and the webbing in his wings are a dirt-brown, and his horns, talons and spines are dark grey.

Bay walks with his shoulders slumped and his talons dragging. His posture is poor. Due to Bay's poor vision, he squints when looking at something far away, and his talons are cracked as a result of his constant chewing on their ends (one of his numerous nervous tics).

He tends to cock his head slightly when skeptical or confused, and smiles rarely. When thinking, he appears to be frowning or upset in some way, and his smiles often look like grimaces. When he does laugh, he has been told it sounds put on.

personality

Bay is... a strange dragon. That pretty much sums him up.

Bay is intelligent, despite being childish, and he knows it. The manner he speaks in, the words he uses, the way he phrases things... yeah, he's not stupid. However, his emotional intelligence is quite low; probably because he dislikes being with most dragons and avoids it. Socialising has never been his thing.

He's weird. And unpredictable. In the middle of a conversation, he might random ask someone if they like the taste of mushrooms. This is generally because Bay often drifts away during conversations, and doesn't really listen to the talker. Jolting back to earth, he says the first thing that comes to his head, and that thing typically has something to do with mushrooms. Why, he's not sure.

Bay loves to run. Many dragons prefer to fly, finding that it gives them a sense of freedom, but... Bay isn't one of them. Being an overly anxious dragon, he worries about his wings ceasing to work while he's in the middle of the sky, and finding himself plummeting towards the ground. Running, he finds, does not worry him as much. He doesn't enjoy long runs, as they tire him and make him feel weak. Sprinting is his thing, and he's quite good at it.

He quite enjoys physical fights, mainly because he's strong and likes to... well, prove it. He relishes the challenge fights bring, and longs for a chance to actually, truly, fight as hard as he can. Despite this apparent thirst for blood, the thought of killing or going to war greatly scares Bay.

Bay is introverted; there is no denying that. However, he's... well, lonely at heart. The fact that some dragons run away when he approaches them, that he hears them talk about him behind his back, that some would rather stand then sit down near him... it all hurts him and makes him feel alone. Truly alone.

He often tries to make jokes, but generally fails at it. The only humour he really feels like he 'gets' and finds natural to use is sarcasm, but as sarcasm is generally at the expense of someone, he feels guilty using it. Another humour he tries to use is a random one; he just says whatever he thinks.

Bay does get pretty loud sometimes... well, most of the time. His voice rises without him realizing, and he's often told to quieten down. However, he is only loud where he feels comfortable.

Bay's generally pretty serious... well, before you get to know him. Once you do, it's pretty easy to tell that that is not the case. He pulls the most ridiculous stunts, says the most random things and comes up with the oddest ideas.

He has anxiety, and tends to worry a lot. About everything. He occasionally experiences panic attacks, and is stressed out easily. He's afraid of entering a relationship, feeling like no matter what he does for one it will never be enough, and the idea of being in one freaks him out. Bay's quite afraid of dying, and avoids any activity that has the slightest chance that it could cause death.

Bay isn't sure what his sexuality is, but he knows one thing for sure; he's not straight. It's pretty definite, in his opinion, since, as multiple of his friends have pointed out, any attraction a non-binary dragon experiences is automatically gay. He's considering the possibility that he's bi, but he's honestly not sure. Perhaps he never will be.

The MudWing has been told by multiple that he's quite blunt, as well as blatantly honest. He is polite, most of the time, but his habit of saying exactly what he thinks and just the plain truth. He's been told he can be somewhat abrasive at times, and he wishes to change this.

Bay's been told a lot that he's... well, scary. And creepy. This is probably due to his tendency of moving without making much noise, his habit of peering over others shoulders in a way that leaves them unaware of him being there for a while, and how he stares at everyone a lot, taking them in.

He's quite stubborn; once he's formed an opinion, he won't back down, even if he's realized that it's wrong. His opinion can be heavily influenced by others, especially dragons he looks up to, and he's generally just happy to pretend to agree with the larger group of dragons.

Bay was raised to be polite, and therefore has pretty good manners. He's typically both more polite and colder towards those he doesn't know, and more apologetic but still less polite with dragons closer to him.

Bay gets bored easily, and is constantly fidgeting. If his entire attention is not captured by something, it is almost certain that he will be tapping his talons or swaying his tail from side to side.

relationships

Echofire - Bay loves Echo platonically, and is incredibly grateful that he met her. She's kind, caring and fun, and chatting with her is often the best part of Bay's day. Bay always knows he can come to her if he needs to vent or just... talk to someone, and does. Honestly, Bay is just really happy to know her. The first time he saw her, he felt jealous of the bond she shared with another friend of his, and felt an urge to get to know her.

Wisdom - Wisdom is... well, amazing. Bay's just... really lucky to know her. The first time Bay met her, he was amazed by how responsible and good at writing she was, and once he started to truly get to know her, he discovered how funny she was. Wis is pretty intimidating, and a great listener, always helping Bay when he needs someone to vent with. She's an incredible dragon, and Bay's in awe of her.

Fall - Bay can't remember meeting Fall; it feels like they've always been in his life. They're witty and intelligent, as well as an incredible artist and a great friend. Bay admires how Fall is capable of being goofy and funny at times, but also able to be serious. Bay used to be closer to them, and feels like they've... drifted apart overtime, which saddens him, and he misses the times when he, Fall, Wis and Echo would fool around with each other.

Eunoia - When Bay first read some of Euni's work, he was amazed. They wrote in such a beautiful, eloquent way, Bay couldn't help but be inspired. Once he actually interacted with them, he learnt that Eunoia was everything their writing was; amazing, inspiring and unique in a good way. Eunoia is an awesome friend to Bay, and he wishes he could do more to show them how grateful he is for it.

Hopeful - Bay doesn't know Hope has well as he knows Euni, which, sadly, isn't that well, but he respects her for the kind and caring dragon he knows her to be. He doesn't interact with her much, but sees her talk to others, and is just... blown away by how kind and considerate she is. Bay hopes to get to know her better in the future.

Void - Void, in Bay's opinion, is a pretty awesome dragon. Honestly, he really doesn't know her very well, but admires her artistic talent and friendliness. The first time they met, Bay was welcoming them, as well as having an odd conversation with Wisdom.

Saburra - Bay really admires Sab's art and patience. He doesn't know Sab very well, and feels guilty as most of their conversations include him requesting art, but hopes to get to know the SandWing better some point in the future.

Nightshade - Bay doesn't know Nightshade that well, much to his disappointment. They seem awesome, and their art is incredible. He hopes to get to know her better at some point in the future.

Lucent - It took a while for Bay to view Lucent as more then an acquaintance, as they hardly ever spoke and only knew each other since they were both friends with the same dragons. However, this all changed - Bay now views Lucent as one of his closest friends, and is extremely grateful to know the lilac IceWing. Lucent is kind, empathetic, understanding and funny, as well as just an overall amazing dragon. Bay is very grateful for everything Lucent has ever done for him, and wishes he could express that better. He appreciates the IceWing a lot, and is extremely glad that they became closer. Actually, to go into more detail, Bay likes Lucent, and is currently in a romantic relationship with tjem.

Aura - Aura is an crash dragon, and one that Bay is glad to know. She's always encouraging her friends and complimenting them, and makes incredible artwork. Despite not being too close to her, Bay can tell she's amazing, and wishes he could get to know her better.

Pillow - Bay thinks Pillow seems pretty cool, and admires her art style. He hasn't interacted with her much, but can see that she's nice and an awesome dragon.

Amberglow - Bay doesn't know Amberglow very well, but has seen her around and thinks that she's pretty cool. He'd like to get to know her better.

Sunnyday - He's pretty neutral on Sunny, to be honest. They can be nice, but he really doesn't know them well enough to form much of an opinion of them.

Hen - Bay recalls talking to Hen a while ago, and that they were relatively friendly towards each other, but since he stopped talking to pretty much everyone, they never really interacted again. He thinks she's nice though, and a great artist.

Rainfall - Bay does not recall meeting Rainfall. However, he knows that xe is an amazing dragon, and is really grateful to have xem in his life. Xyr art is incredible, and xe are always ready to help a friend in need, which Bay really appreciates. Xe is really kind and helpful, as well as super intelligent. Bay really appreciates Rainfall, and is really happy glad that he can count xem among his friends.

Indigo - Indigo is an amazing dragon that Bay can't believe he's only known for a few months. Hilarious, responsible, laid back and friendly, Indigo is an amazing friend with an awesome personality. Although they used to talk far more, Bay still thinks of Indigo as one of his closest friends and one of the nicest dragons he has ever been lucky enough to meet. Bay thinks Indigo is amazing, and is really happy to know the hybrid.

trivia

  • Bay needs glasses, as he is short-sighted.
  • Bay prefers he/him pronouns, but is quite happy with ve/vir and xe/xem pronouns too
  • His theme animal is a dog, because a close friend of him once told him that he was doglike due to his habit of following her around everywhere she went. He does this whenever he's with someone he cares about deeply.
  • If Bay lived in Panem, he'd be part of District One.
  • If Bay was to be sorted into a Hogwarts house, it would be Ravenclaw.
  • Bay is neutral good, although thinks himself as more of a chaotic neutral.
  • Bay's eyes change colour because Halt's do too.
