Overview[]

Appearance[]

Battleseer has redder scales than most NightWings, being shades of blood red and a deep crimson. His wings are also a reddish color, though lighter than the rest of his scales.

His top scales, primarily on his legs and arms, are a deep blue color, which contrast with the red of his main scales.

Battleseer's underbelly is a dark gray and his horns are an off-white color, matching his talons.

Personality[]

Battleseer is known for his pragmatic, cunning and calculating demeanor, but also his ruthless, cold, manipulative and often unfettered attitude, even towards his allies.

He is frequently cited as being a traitor in his own right, but is always able to somehow overturn the accusations on his accusers. He focuses heavily on general facts and logic as opposed to impulses and feelings.

Battleseer does not particularly care for his powers as they have not proven to be of much use to him. This highlights his attitude to only keeping what is useful to both himself and the kingdom at large.

He often deems the kingdom as more important than any one specific individual, including guards, the princesses, the Queen, and even himself.

History[]

Battleseer was hatched in the year 5,053 A.S, about 41 years after the events of both Arcs 1 and 2. He hatched in the Rainforest like the other NightWings of the time, but came under the light on one of the full moons, granting him the power of foresight. His foresight is different from most NightWing seers, however, as he was hatched under a blood moon, granting him the ability to see disasters much more clearly.

He lived a mostly quiet life in the NightWing Village, going to school in the one that had been built and partially staffed by this point. He made quick friends with a few dragons, but otherwise had neutral relations with his fellow classmates.

He spent most of his time in libraries, reading up on the history of the NightWing Tribe, the NightWing Exodus, The War of the SandWing Succession, the Dragonets of Destiny, Darkstalker, Jade Mountain, and other such things.

At around five years of age, he left the NightWing Academy in the Rainforest, and went to the Jade Mountain Academy. he had read several things on the place, and was interested on if there were any other things left there that he might be able to find. He didn't find anything, but did prove to be at least a halfway decent student.

He ended reading more scrolls on History in the Academy, and also decided to learn how to fight with various weapons, like swords and daggers and such. He wasn't the best with them, but his skill was passable.

Where he really shined was in terms of things like public speaking and debating. Whereas his fellow classmates would debate based on what they felt was right, Battleseer started to learn the importance of having simple, concrete facts to uphold an argument. He quickly became good at debating, and started researching that over combat techniques and history.

That's not to say that he dropped those two things altogether, but that he simply added debating to his platter, sidelining history and combat for the time being.

Not his truly eventful happened at the academy, to Battleseer's slight dismay. He'd been hoping for something exciting to happen, but understood why it didn't. Most of the evils had already been defeated, and probably no others would rear their heads while the Dragonets of Destiny were alive.

He graduated when he was eight and went back to the Rainforest to live out the rest of his life, and to try and find something to do. Most of Battleseer's days were spent training with a sword, reading up on history and current political events, and just generally remaining out of conflicts.

When he was 11, Battleseer was brought in on the jury for a trial that involved some murder and a NightWing suspect. He sat on the jury for the majority of the trial, listening for the most part.

When he was 13, Battleseer became a notable judge for trials and such. He oversaw plenty of cases over his time, and additionally grew close to a member of the RainWing court, a dragoness named Dragonfly.

Dragonfly and Battleseer eventually drew the Queen's eye, and she had Battleseer added to the court as an advisor to herself. Battleseer was about 14 at the time, and began to advise the queen.

There was a rebellion forming in the NightWing ranks, because they wanted their own queen. Battleseer assisted the queen in putting down the insurrection, but the rebellion still did an effective job.

After all was said and done, at least half the court, including Dragonfly, had been assassinated by the rebels. Queen Vine was also assassinated, and had to be replaced by her three-year-old daughter, Heliconia.

Battleseer still serves as the Queen's advisor, and currently trying to steer Heliconia away from any decisions that may completely cripple the NightWing tribe or simply destroy the Kingdom with war and rebellions.

Miscellaneous[]

Relationships[]

Dragonfly[]

Battleseer had an extremely positive relationship with Dragonfly. They were extremely good friends who complimented each other rather well, with Battleseer being more logical and Dragonfly being a considerably more emotional dragon.

Dragonfly also helped Battleseer rise to his current position as the Queen's advisor, and they still had a bit of contact even with Battleseer's new job.

They also had a similar interest in keeping the kingdom from falling into ruin, and used their various skills to keep it mostly afloat before the rebellion. Battleseer was unable to find Dragonfly while the palace was stormed, and as such, he missed her death completely.

Queen Vine[]

Battleseer and Queen Vine had a mutually respectful relationship. Vine respected Battleseer due to his talents and Battleseer respected the Queen for her authority. They had their ups and downs, but overall neither truly hated the other.

Vine did end up accusing Battleseer of committing treason when she caught wind of the NightWing rebellion, which caused a near total breakdown of their relations. Battleseer managed to prove himself innocent, but Vine's suspicions weren't completely assuaged.

Battleseer attempted to defend the queen when the palace was overrun, but fails, resulting in Vine's death.

Queen Heliconia[]

Battleseer and Heliconia don't have too great of a relationship. Heliconia just dislikes NightWings in general, which doesn't exactly help her when talking to or dealing with Battleseer, who is a NightWing and also her chief advisor.

In return, Battleseer does not particularly care about Heliconia, and instead just cares about her as the Queen of their tribes. He knows that if she were to die that there would be a split between the tribes and the nightWings and RainWings would likely end up going to war with each. He's also tired oof having to constantly veto her suggestion of imposing devastating restrictions on the NightWing tribe in an effort to not make her seem like a vindictive dictator.

All in all, Heliconia and Battleseer don't like each other much because they both see the other as an idiot that needs to be "corrected."
