🔮 Appearance
Arc is a pale sandy dragon with somewhat darker back scales, and a darker brown underbelly. He has freckles on his face. His eyes are almost completely black, and so are his horns and claws. He has a short dark frill that becomes lighter to the top. He has dark brown stripes on his neck and tail. Arcane has a long scar on each cheek, a small one on his right heel, and a large circular scar under his jaw, which is typically not seen unless you look from below. There is another scar on his tail tip from a surgical procedure. Despite being a ghost now, he seems to retain his old colouration, looking no different from the living.
As a dragon of high status with magic powers Arcane wears a lot of jewelry, some of which is enchanted. He prefers rings and bracelets embedded with gems the most, but he also had a necklace, which he lost though. His talons are covered in metal plating.
🔮 Personality
Being born special, and constantly being admired by others hadn't done the best to him. While Arc's mother tried her best to teach her dragonet that animus powers didn't make him a god, and that he wasn't above the rest, the rest was convinced otherwise, and influenced Arc into believing otherwise, especially when the guidance of his mother was out of the picture after her death. It's not unexpected that Arcane thinks highly of himself, and has a sense of superiority. Because of his own ego, Arcane finds it hard to believe that he could do anything wrong. He is clever but doesn't think too far ahead, nor does he consider consequences, typically because he feels like everything will go well. Even after things actually went wrong, he retained that mentality.
Some saw this cocky dragon as a nuisance. Due to his status he thought that he could do anything and get away with it. It was not uncommon for him to mock and harass others in the belief that the royals will help him out of this. There were probably quite the handful of dragons that wanted him dead, but nobody dared to approach a powerful mage, who also had the grace of royals, furthering Arc's confidence in himself. Arcane is a very uncooperative dragon, who does whatever he wants, and prefers to be the one to be in command instead of being the one commanded around. He feels entitled, as if everybody had to do as he says.
After his death he started to reflect a bit on his behaviour, yet retained his snarky attitude and arrogance, continuing to be terrible to Cally. Arcane does have a vulnerable side, but it is not one he enjoys showing, and is actually very embarrassed by. Anything that makes him seem weak is bad, and Arcane tries his best to uphold a strong outer appearance for the sake of his fame and status. As he was often used by others he had trust issues but also accepted the fate that nobody genuinely liked him, seeing him and his magic as no more but a tool to win wars.
🔮 Special
- Firebreath: Even as a ghost he retains the ability to make fire, however the ghost fire is harmless to any living being unless it was specifically enchanted to be able to touch spirits. The flame's colour used to be a vibrant orange during his lifetime, but now as a ghost it is the fire that has obtained the ghastly pale colouration.
- Venom: Arc was born a normal SandWing with a venom stinger on the tip of his tail. To ensure that he didn't become too much of a threat, the poison glands were removed and the stinger cut, leaving him without the natural defense mechanism.
- Desert Adaptation: This includes heat resistance, and the capability to store liquids and nutrients, allowing the SandWing to survive without a source of food or water for quite some time. His eyes also adapted to bright sunlight and sandstorms.
- Magic: Throughout generations a special power has been passed down in Arc's family: Animus magic. He is even a rare quite powerful animus at that, being able to enchant anything made of metal, however is also limited to only enchanting those metal objects. For most of them the effect is only activated through contact with the object, usually when wearing it. He can only enchant things when he touches them and has to pay with a drawback.
- Ghost traits: To most people Arcane is invisible, and he is also unable to touch them. He can phase through objects, and he can also sort of touch, but not move them. This way Arcane can still enchant objects, but not wear them himself. All the objects he had on him prior to death are still on him and usable. Through Fate's intervention he cannot enchant objects to be wearable by him. Ghost Arcane can also float without using wings, though he can of course still fly.
🔮 Items
- Necklace: It was enchanted to allow the bearer to manipulate rocks. However, he lost it long ago. Initially the necklace was a gift to him.
- Lance/Ring: Ring turns into lance and vice versa. It can only stay a lance for a short while.
- Immunity Bracelets: They all give the bearer immunities to various things including the cold, poison, and cursed images.
- Tail Rings: Just a pretty accessory with green gems.
🔮 Relationships
Callicore
The first one to see him as a ghost, and thus the first one the socially deprived dragon could actually talk with after many years. Though Arcane is initially a brat to Cally, and perpetually annoys her, he starts to warm up to her, and treat her slightly better. She is probably also the only one he sort of trusts, but that's probably because she is the only one to be able to see him. |
Queen Paper Wasp
When Arc fled to Pantala it was the queen of the HiveWings that took him in and protected Arcane even before knowing about his abilities. The two were a couple for a while...kinda. He didn't really like her, and Paper Wasp seemed to have some weird obsession with him. The whole relationship was a one sided mess. Arcane referred to her as Queen Paper Buzz due to the noise her wings made whenever she flew, which he described as annoying. The two had a dragonet together. Though never admitting to it he was thankful for her letting him live peacefully in Pantala. | |
Moonglider
Moonglider was a NightWing, who Arcane was very close with. The two met on the battlefield and were on different sides, but they didn't care about that. They lost contact after Arcane left the continent, though after many years Moonglider managed to follow him to Pantala. Moonglider's death devastated Arc, leading to him casting an immortality spell upon himself, becoming fearful of death himself. It was clear that Moonglider had been very important to Arcane. |
Unnamed Sand Queen
After his mother died, many dragons wanted to get their hands on the magic dragonet, and that included the current ruling queen, who with her absolute power could easily obtain what she wanted. So she did. Arcane was now her second son in a sense, but one who was nothing but a useful tool. At least he was treated better than her actual son. Arc hated her for obvious reasons, and was happy when he finally managed to flee. Afterwards he perpetually feared that she might send one of her underlings to get him. There's been a rumor that she might've been behind his mother's death. |
