Aperture, better known as Apex, is an eccentric TempestWing Spark who claims the harshest peaks of the Clawreach Mountains as his domain. A striking appearance, terrifying mastery over electricity, and playful arrogance make the lucky few to have been graced by his presence wish they hadn't.

Biography[]
Hails from an ancient and elusive line of light-scaled Sparks. Family drama moments ??!?!!! The Clawreach Mountains has been his family's home for generations due to an ancient ancestor's exile from TempestWing society.
Subsequently, Aperture feels a certain claim to the mountaintops and is hostile to its encroachment by nobles and loyal military families seeking to expand their private training grounds.
Being from such a long line of Sparks, certain complications were expected upon the hatching of his sole, white egg. TempestWings hatching from dark-colored eggs meant that they would not inherit the family gift, but also avoid its consequences: the most common comorbidity being partial or complete blindness of the Spark members of his lineage.
However, when Aperture opened his eyes for the first time on that night the mountain winds howled, they saw clear and focused. With no other malformations besides the characteristic white of his family's feathers, the dragonet was considered a gift from Ryga herself. Perhaps there was some truth to the legends of the tallest peak of their mountain home.
The legend later became the catalyst for the other name he is known by: Apex.
While his family is largely seperate from TempestWing society, so much so that they don't recognize its queen as their authority, their social hierarchy still operates on the same basic principle: power is everything.
For a young Aperture, that meant being harshly trained to hone his already remarkable natural talent further, to a level of skill without equal. Of course, this was all for his parents' benefit: he was simply a tool to be used to get one over on his more distant relatives, to claim their territory and resources for their own. After all, everything is scarce at such freezing temperatures and high altitudes.
As the young dragonet grew into his own personality and mind, it was clear that he would present problems for the relative comfortability enjoyed by his parents that was built on the back of his power. He regularly challenged their authority. In his mind, it was his right; Aperture had not forgotten who had gotten them to this point to begin with.
Eventually, the conflict deteriorated to the point that Aperture threatened to leave entirely, citing the rite of passage undertaken by all adolescent dragons of the family, since he knew that they would not allow him to leave without a fight otherwise.
