Ant is a male HiveWing dragonet who currently lives on the streets of Tsetse Hive. He likes to bite anyone who he doesn’t like.
Description[]
Ant is quite small, appearing a burbling dragonet. However, he is rather fast.
He has dark red scales, with wide golden eyes, and black stripes crisscrossing his back. His underbelly is a lighter red color, and he has black freckles across his snout and forearms.
His wings are translucent, and have a slight off-white tint to them. His face is often split in a goofy grin or look of wonder, and he has several bruises and scratches.
Ant wears a small bracelet, which was made for him by Owlet.
Personality[]
Ant is a rather energetic dragonet, always bouncing from place to place. He is a goofy little guy, and is usually quite a sweetie. He is a mischievous dragon, and likes to laugh at jokes. He is regularly described as “annoying” and “a pest”.
However, Ant has difficulty expressing or talking about his emotions, and can’t articulate what he is feeling very well. He often gets frustrated, and when he feels especially angry, or sad, or upset, he doesn’t know how to talk about it and often resorts to biting any who approach him.
Feelings overwhelm him immensely, and his only solution is to bite other dragons in self-defense when he feels overwhelmed.
Ant is unaccustomed to dragons loving and caring about him, due to his parents being out of his life for so long, and expresses gratitude or kindness by giving dragons small gifts that he finds or makes himself.
Ant has an odd proficiency for getting into places he shouldn’t, and seems to be everywhere at once.
Backstory[]
Ant was hatched to two HiveWings in Tsetse Hive, his father, Longhorn, and his mother, Dorylus. Soon after he hatched, Longhorn was moved to Bloodworm Hive to train to be in the Queen’s Guard. Ant barely remembers his father, but his mother was very sad when he was chosen.
When Ant was around two, his mother died of illness. Ant, with no one to care for him, ran away from home, sad and confused. A squadron of HiveWings arrived at his home to take away her body, and, finding Ant missing, presumed him dead.
Ant began to live on his own, stealing food. He experienced many extreme feelings, feelings too big for any two year old dragonet to deal with on his own. He was upset nearly constantly.
When he was almost two-and-a-half, he somehow snuck into a kitchen in the webs. A dappled brown dragon came in, and instead of screaming or chasing him out, she crouched down and began to talk to him. The SilkWing frightened Ant at first, but he took the banana she offered him and ran away.
The next day, Ant returned.
The SilkWing revealed her name to be Owlet, and told Ant that she was a spinner. Ant left again, but this time his emotions were less chaotic.
Ant continued visiting Owlet every day, who soon grew to be like a mother to him. When he told her about his mother dying, she cried and hugged him, promising he would never lose her.
Owlet wanted to adopt him, but she knew she, a SilkWing, would never be allowed to. But she looked after little Ant, and kept him safe. Ant still lives on the streets, but he spends most of his time at Owlet’s home.
