Appearance
Anglerfish, theoretically, would appear to be no more than another delicate SilkWing, upon passing glance. But what SilkWing has glowing strips of white, and webs between her jagged claws? She has scales in shades a mix of terracotta, salmon, and flesh. Her maw hides rows of razor-sharp crooked fangs for mauling the passing creatures on the sea floor, and on her snout is a single antenna tipped with a bioluminescent scale for drawing them in. Her SeaWing scales and the tip of her antenna glow eerily moon-pale like blank white paper. She has sharp-tipped fins with translucent brown-orange webbings between them and her claws, and her scales have a rough, almost sandpapery edge. Angler's eyes are dark red, like the blood of sea creatures dimly illuminated by her lights, and she has two barbels on her chin. Her four wings are SeaWing-shaped, with circles, spirals and stripes of crimson across the brown surface. She has streaks of peach across her scales. She is lean and fairly muscular. Angler is often mistaken for a SilkWing-SkyWing hybrid for her coloring, as her mother's SeaWing hues are not present.
Angler can control the luminosity of her white scales as her Pyrrhian parent can, is generally strong, and has a resistance to subzero temperatures from living most of her life in such.Personality
Anglerfish is a...primal dragon. She couldn't speak Dragon, or any known language, but did and does have the mental capacity to learn it. She cared only about surviving, and doesn't have a lair or home of any sort, roaming the sea for food. The fact that she hadn't ever seen another dragon in her life may or may not have contributed to this. However, she has wondered about if there were any other creatures like her, and decided she would be hospitable and offer them meat if she ever did find one, although unfortunately she lived too far down to meet anyone, which is why she journeyed to the surface world.History
Years ago, a lone SeaWing found a mate. A fine young SilkWing, although his fate was not fitting. After she knew she was with egg, she told him to follow her to the sea, and he did. He did, and she led him to the seafloor, and left him there to swim with the fishes. She laid a single egg, bright orange with white around the edges, in the bottom of the ocean, and swam off, never to be seen again. Anglerfish hatched all alone, with only the light of her antenna to guide her.
Many years later, Angler swam for days to the surface, meeting an odd NightWing named Magmacore who helped her learn Dragon and navigate the strange new world.
Relationships Her Parents - Angler hasn't ever met her parents, but knows they must exist somewhere. She doesn't really care much, though, since she's observed that most deep sea creatures don't care for their young either.
Magmacore - Magma was the first other dragon she's ever met, and they took an instant liking to each other. Magmacore taught her Dragon, and showed her how to walk.
Trivia
- If she hasn't ever met another dragon in her life, and doesn't speak Dragon or any other language, how does she know her name? Actually, she does have a made up "language", which consists of only things in the deep sea--she has no words for most objects that would be considered everyday sights to other dragons, such as fire, the sky and sun, trees, and land animals.
- She is featured in a fanfiction of mine, which can be found here.Gallery
