I made another alternate DoD fanfiction! Uh... yeah.
Prologue[]
The moons shone down, turning Dune's scales almost white. Come on. he thought. The sooner the better, Webs... Kestrel had been pacing the cave for over half an hour, her rusty-red scales also paled by the moons. "I still think I should have gone to get the SkyWing, I can navigate the kingdom better than a blubbering Seawing. " Kestrel hissed.
"At least Webs cares." Dune replied. "He's a good dragon at heart."
"Hmph," Kestrel huffed. "Beats me how he ever made it in." The comment was muttered, but Dune caught it. Kestrel was right. Webs was a bit of a wet leaf. But, he was the only other guardian, so they were stuck with him. A cracking sound came from the stony nest where four eggs lay. "The Mudwing's hatching." Kestrel said.
"It can't hatch yet! We only have four!" Dune said panicked. They needed the Skywing, fast!
"Try telling that to the egg." Kestrel replied. The pattering of webbed talons on the stony floor of the cave caught Dune's attention. Turning, a blue-green SeaWing galloped into the room. "I have it!" he cried.
"Webs, you brainless salamander!" Kestrel hissed. "This is a Rainwings egg."
"It's all I could get!" Webs said, panting. Dune pointed to where the other four eggs lay. The red one had cracks spiralling like the patterns on Webs' wings. It's going to hatch and we don't have a SkyWing! Dune thought. "Put it with the others." he said, trying to stay calm. Webs lay the shining egg down, just as the red egg burst open. "Look!" Dune said. "He's hatched!"
Dune looked down at the five dragonets that stumbled at his talons. He'd never really been one for dragonets, but these ones were actually pretty quiet. And cute. Cute helped them a lot. Kestrel had gone off to avoid the noise, and Dune was alone with Webs. "They're sweet, aren't they?" Webs said. Dune nodded. The SandWing dragonet came up to Dune, attracted by the warmth of his scales. Dune noticed with a shudder that something was wrong with it. It's front leg was underdeveloped; it stopped just below the forearm. I hope Kestrel doesn't notice. Dune thought. She'll kill the poor thing immediately. There was a strange noise coming from outside the cave. Dune stood, and went to check it out. Outside, the sun was just starting to rise, turning the sky blood red. What was that noise? Dune wondered. Suddenly, something thudded into his back, hard, pinning him to the ground. Whipping his sandy yellow neck around, he saw a flash of red scales. SkyWings! he thought, terrified, before there was a sharp crack in his neck, and everything went black.
Quick Explanation[]
You're probably wondering what just happened, so here's an explanation. A little after the dragonets hatched, Dune heard a flapping noise, and went outside to check. He was killed by Scarlet's forces. Later, Webs went to check where Dune was, and was attacked too, but not by SkyWings. Webs was killed by Blaze's SandWings. Coral's SeaWings secretly entered the cave through the underground river, attacking and killing Kestrel. There was a battle in the cave for the dragonets. The SeaWings made off with the SeaWing and the NightWing, the SkyWings with the RainWing and the MudWing and the SandWings with the SandWing. The dragonets were raised alone, each by a different queen, and here's what happened.
