This fanfiction is about Peacemaker, and his life. But a mysterious voice haunts his mind... (More Coming Soon!)
The Prologue is Darkstalker's view of what happened in the last couple of chapters of The Darkness of Dragons.
The long Prologue is optional to read, but it's recommended.
It was confirmed that if Peacemaker wore Qibli's earrings, he would turn into dust, as it would remove his immortality spell as well.
But in this alternate universe, it won't...

This story will shift between Peacemaker and Darkstalker's Point of View.
Prologue[]
Darkstalker couldn't believe it. His mother was still alive! After years of thinking that the IceWings killed her- Don't keep your hopes up. Maybe they had one of their animus friends enchant something to transform into Foeslayer, like I did with Fierceteeth to make Clearsight. He saw her mother standing on one of the peaks of Jade Mountain, almost exactly as she looked like the last time he saw her. Darkstalker inhaled sharply, and looped back to hover in front of Moon, and said,"I'm not going to fall for this. Turtle made her, didn't he? The way I made Clearsight? This is a plan to mess with my head." He was hopeful. Hopeful that she would say no, and that she really is Foeslayer. Moon shook her head. "No. She's real, Darkstalker. She's been in the Ice Kingdom for all these years, trapped in a kind of suspended animation spell. She has only lived for tiny fragments of time here and there, so she's not much older than when you last saw her." She didn't die. The IceWings didn't kill her. But... what kind of spell-... Darkstalker was emotional by that thought. "I thought they killed her..." Darkstalker said in a shaky voice." Moon hesitated. "It's actually worse, what Queen Diamond did to her. But she's alright now. She wants to see you." What could possibly be worse than killing her? Darkstalker had a flashback of his own voice, commanding his father to disembowel himself. He shivered. That's different. Don't think about that. He pushed that thought away, and whirled back to soar towards her mother. He landed in front of Foeslayer. She turned to face him, the wind whispering, like it can't believe she was alive either. This is a miracle. He thought. They stared at each other, one in disbelief, the other with scorn. Darkstalker slowly stepped closer and closer to his mother. Darkstalker crouched, trying to make himself small. "Mother?" He finally said. She spread her wings, and said, "Darkstalker. My beloved disaster."
They both enveloped each other with their wings, and Darkstalker started to sob. Then he started to think of what to tell her. Should he tell her about the futures where he rules the continent? Should he tell her about Clearsight and Fathom betraying him? Should he talk about the conversation with Qibli? Should he talk about the Soul Reader- Yes, that's it. I might not like it, but she needs to know. She's my mother, after all. He sat up, and asked hesitantly, "Mother. Do you remember- the Soul Reader I made?" "Yes," his mother said wryly. "I remember you prowling around the house, trying to catch your father with it to read his soul." He looked into her eyes, knowing perfectly well from her expression that she knew what happened to his father. "It- it says I'm evil. Like, all the way almost completely evil. Worse than father ever was. I'm not though, am I? I'm not... evil?" He desperatly hoped that she would say that he wasn't evil, that the Soul Reader was wrong, and that his soul was perfectly fine. But that wasn't what she said. "Well..." she said. "I can't say I entirely approve of your choices lately. Or, 2000 years ago for that matter." Darkstalker hunched his shoulders. Why... Why does everyone... "It was his fault you got caught by the IceWings." he said. He was going to find a way to get revenge, even without magic. "No. It was my fault, for letting a stupid fight make me so mad, I toke off my protection." "What did they do to you?" Darkstalker asked, in a shaky voice. "In the Ice Kingdom? I'll make them pay. You can watch while I make them all sorry." He stared glumly at his talons, opening and closing them. "None of the IceWings today did anything to me. Except for one, who freed me from my prison." "But you were IMPRISONED." Darkstalker said, pouncing on that word. "All this time. Wasn't it awful? Don't you want revenge?" "I, was never a vengeful dragon." She sighed. "You get that from your father. Calm down, it's true. But it doesn't make sense, to punish the IceWing tribe for what happened to us all those centuries ago, Darkstalker. Queen Diamond is long gone. The war should have ended then. Time, has moved on without us. And we, should let it, not drag it back to the blood and fire of our old fight." "But they-" "Started it? They don't see it that way. I remember what Artic did during our escape from the Ice Kingdom. I understand why they were so angry, and why he never really recovered. I'm sorry, you had to live a life shaped by that anger." She reached out to trace the lines of his face. "I wish, I can start over, and give you a happy life instead."
"Maybe you can." Moon said, stepping into Darkstalker's line of sight. That's true. I'd love to rule Pyrrhia along side mother. That would make me happy. "That's true." Darkstalker said. "You can help me rule Pyrrhia, mother. I wouldn't need anyone else then." He touched his forehead, looking into all the possible futures. Moon yelling at him, everyone deserting him... including mother. That's not a good future. This future, with darkness ahead. He wasn't quite sure why. And him as a king, ruling all of Pyrrhia. That was extremely unlikely now. "Why can't I see that future?" "Because I, would never say yes to that." Foeslayer said sadly. Why? But those were GREAT futures! Everyone was happy, and everyone was exactly as they wanted to be... with out any "spells" on them all! Why won't they agr- "Wait, Darkstalker." Moon cut in to his thoughts. "I'd had a new vision, since the moment Jade Mountain didn't fall. I wasn't sure it was a vision, at first. But it keeps looping back over, and over." A vision? "Which one?" Darkstalker asked. He looked back into the futures. "Qibli, as an Animus? I liked that one, although it wasn't strongly probable. The others? None of them are perfect. I can see I never get Clearsight right, the Ice Kingdom is a frozen wasteland, and it's a misery to concurr. The SeaWings never stop popping out of the ocean to fight us, no matter how many times I think I stamped them out. The RainWings are impossible, it's like trying to fight butterflies. An army of invisible butterflies that can melt off your face once you fall asleep!" He rubbed his eyes to clear off the visions. "Thanks to those wretched earrings, becoming King of the whole continent is harder than it should be. It's exhasting. I'm tired, and I haven't even begun yet." Darkstalker sat down heavily, lying his head on the ground in front of his mother. "And what's the point... Clearsight's gone."
"I never have dragonets. I'll never fall in love again. You're still my only friend, and you and mother spend the rest of your lives yelling at me. He snapped one of the ice-covered flowers off it's stem, and crushed it into tiny purple fragments between his claws. I know it's unlikely, but maybe that's what Moon saw. "Is that what you see, Moon?" "Not exactly." Moon said. "The vision I see- I don't think you will be able to see it." He raised his head, and was offended. What? I can see all the futures, all the paths! How can SHE see something I can't? "Oh really? You can see a future I can't?" "I think so." She said. If I'm right about it, it's a vision of a dragonet. He's growing up in the Rainforest. He loves to weave, and fish, and sing... his favorite fruit is strawberries, which he and his friends fly to the mountains to find. He teaches himself to make jam, and pies. And he writes a song called: Strawberries As Big A Scavenger's Head. Which becomes the anthem for a yearly strawberry festival. He lives a peaceful, ordinary life. He marries the tribe's blacksmith, and they have two funny little dragonets, who steal his strawberries and make him laugh everyday. They're with him, when he died quietly in his sleep." She paused, watching him expectantly, thinking: I think this might be you, Darkstalker. He tried to ignore that thought. "Well, I don't know who that is." She kept looking at him, like as if he meant for him to hear: This is you, in a future where you become a dragonet again. "I mean, who loves strawberries that much? I've never tried one. They look like they're full of seeds!" "Really?" Moon said, laughing. "They're not at all. You'll like them. "I saw some, over here." Foeslayer said, searching a patch of leaves near her talons. He plucked one of the ruby red fruits, and placed it in his talons. This feels weird... He thought, and eyed the fruit suspiciously. "Wait. You think the dragon in your vision is me."
"You, without your powers. You without your memories. A new you, with a chance to start over." Darkstalker snorted, with smoke rising from his nostrils one puff at a time. Why would I ever want to lose my powers? Or my memories? Clearsight will be even more gone then she is right now... "Why would I ever give up my powers?" He echoed his thoughts. "I'm the most powerful dragon Pyrrhia has ever seen! Everyone wants to be me!" "I don't." said Qibli. "Me neither!" said Kinkajou. Darkstalker almost forgot they were there, as they were so silent almost the whole conversation. "Evil and smug and fat-headed and evil. No thank you." How dare you! "I'm not-" He started, amd then stopped himself. Remember the soul reader...? His mother patted his talons. "You could be happy. You could be loved." "But you have to choose it." Moon said. "You're the only one who can make it real. Imagine it, Darkstalker. If you turn yourself into a different dragon, you can actually do good things for the world." What?!? I wouldn't! He shook his head. "That's ridiculous! Without my powers, what do I do? Make pie? You must be joking. Couldn't I do more good things with my powers intact?" he asked. "Like, take Pyrrhia into the glorious future I've seen?" Darkstalker thought of that wonderful future- Darkstalker ruling Pyrrhia, Moon by his side... The NightWings becoming the superior tribe it once been... The whole contenint bowing at his feet- "I'd rather have pie." Kinkajou said. Moon shook her head. "The future of Pyrrhia isn't your own personal scroll, waiting for you to write it, Darkstalker. The only future you control is yours, and you have not brought happiness to the dragon tribes. We don't want that future you see, if we all have to travel your dark path to get there." Darkstalker spun the strawberry in his claws, staring at the fruit's glossy red surface. Really? Is that what other dragons think? I wouldn't like it at all if I don't follow those bright paths! "Do it." his mother said quietly. "Become a dragonet again. I'll take care of you. I want to. We'll be happy this time." He looked ahead again, and instantly snapped back to the present. "All I see this way is darkness." "Darkness is what all the rest of us see, if you do become King." Moon said. "But this way-" "NO! I can't, I can't do it! I won't!" He cut in. Moon looked bewildered, and said, "But my vision- I'm sure this is the path you choose!" Darkstalker lashed his tail, accidentally whacking Foeslayer's. "I don't want to lose all my memories! I'd forget Clearsight, she'd be even more gone than she is now!" he echoed his eariler thoughts. He stood up, staring into Moon's eyes. "No, I'm going to be King. King of the whole continent! King of all the tribes! That's my future! I've seen it a thousand times!" "Darkstalker, please." Moon pleaded."I know there's good in you still! If you listen to it, you'll choose this for yourself! I'm sure you will!" I'd never! he thought. I'd never choose that path, and it will never exist! but there was a tiny part of him, quieter than his heartbeat, that whispered: It's real, and face it: you are evil, and you know it. He rose up to his full height, and spread his wings. "You all are a bunch of small-minded little lizards! What did you think? I'd taste a strawberry and think: Mmm, wow. That's worth giving up my magic for?" He glanced down at the tiny fruit in his claws, then ripped off all the leaves. "Or did you have Turtle enchant this? Or perhaps, another secret animus I don't know about? It doesn't matter, you boring, ordinary creatures, I can't be enchanted by anyone! I'm smarter now, I've made myself completely safe. Nobody's animus magic would work on me. Which means nobody would ever be able to stop me!" He popped it in his mouth, chewed for a moment, and swallowed it, glancing at his mother. "Actually, there is ONE dragon's magic that would still work on you." Kinkajou said, with a slight smile. He glowered down at her. "You're wrong." "I'm RIGHT!" She snapped back. "Oh really, whose?" She glared at him, looking into his eyes, and turned her scales fiery red. "Your own."
Kinkajou opened her pouch, and poured out tiny scraps of paper in front of her. Darkstalker stared at it. Oh no! are those... are those parts of my scroll? That Peril DESTROYED? How is that possible? My power returned to me! She flipped the pieces of his scroll over, and he saw in horror, that there was writing- a spell- that can destroy him. "What?" Darkstalker said, choking on his strawberry. "I didn't see!" He looked back at his visions, and... they were slowly fading away... "I know! Never saw me coming! Taken doen by a ball of fluff! Who's insignificant now, frogface?" Everything was getting slightly bigger each second. He looked down at his body, and realized he was shrinking! Oh no! What's happening to me? Am I turning into the dragonet Moon saw in the vision? Am I getting defeated after all? Oh no! Oh no, oh no, oh no! He listened for a moment, and caught a thought slipping past his mother's shield: I helped Kinkajou come up with this spell. "You knew! You helped her!" "Of course I did. What else could I do? Send you to your room? Extra chores for a week? Somehow, neither of those seemed particuliarly apt for this situation." She patted his shoulder. Everything was getting bigger still, and he was only slightly bigger than his mother. "It was this, or leave forever, and never see you again. I decided, we'd both be happier this way." "But, my powers!" he cried. His voice was high-pitched, and he sounded like a tiny dragonet, assuming, that's what he was turning into now. His powers were fading away. When he tried to reach out to the future, he saw nothing, but a faint image of strawberries, and the rainforest. "All my magic, can't I keep any of it? The mind-reading? Wait." He held up his front talons, watching them shrink as he became smaller and smaller. "Sorry, Darkstalker." Qibli said, looking down at him. "You had more than one chance to use them wisely and well, and you chose not to. "I really thought he was going to choose this for himself..." Moon said, dipping her head until she reached his eye level. "Oh, I knew he wouldn't. Kinkajou said. "But I couldn't tell you my AWESOME plan, obviously." "You told her though. Why didn't he see it in your mind?" Moon asked Foeslayer. Everything was slowly fading away. "You don't raise a mind-reading son without learning a few tricks on hiding your thoughts." his mother said calmly. Everything was giagantic, and slowly fading to black, so he quickly looked up and said, "Didn't I help you? Didn't I save dragons too? I'm not evil, I'm not!" He thought he heard someone say, "Not anymore!" and everything went pitch black.
Chapter 1[]
Peacemaker
One Year Later...
Peacemaker loved strawberries. He picked them every day, at the orchards in the mountains, munching on them whenever he could have snacks, and when school was over. School was exhasting, but fun at the same time. He got to meet a lot of dragons from other tribes! His Winglet, the Opal Winglet, was a fun and cheerful group. It consists of a RainWing, named Vibrant, a SeaWing, named Stream, a SkyWing, named Amber, himself as the NightWing, Glistener, an IceWing, Heatstroke, a SandWing, and Topaz, a MudWing-SkyWing Hybrid. His favorite subject was Herbs and Healing, which he was great at. He also loved how the Prey Center has so many different types of food from all over the continent! Obviously, he would eat the strawberries first. But occasionally, he would eat a mango or some raspberries. Whenever he had time, he would play with Vibrant. They got along the best in their Winglet. But, after school, he would always find Moon. They were actual best friends, ever since he was a year old!
Peacemaker finished school, and flew out to the rainforest. He had a pretty good sense of direction by now, flying back and forth so many times. Moon was there, talking to his mother.
"...any tips to take care of Peacemaker?" she was asking Moon.
"Moon!" Peacemaker exclaimed, and Moon turned around, her face lighting up.
"Da-Peacemaker!" Moon said.
Sometimes, Moon or Kinkajou would start off with D or Da before saying his name, and he didn't know why.
A head popped out of the bush, saying, "Moon, do you mind helping me pick some berries-"
It was Kinkajou. She stopped when she saw Peacemaker there. "Um, do you have time?"
Moon laughed. "Of course! But let's take Peacemaker with us."
"Yay, berries!" He said, bounding across to hug Kinkajou. She looked surprised for a second, and then that expression was gone.
They took off, flying towards the claws of the clouds mountains, where the orchards were. It's an hour long flight, but it would be worth it. While flying, was thinking about strawberries, strawberries and more strawberries he could eat when he reached the orchard, and something gold and shiny was falling from the sky. Peacemaker caught it, and thought, pretty earring! and put it on. Suddenly, an unfamiliar voice entered his mind. Aargh! Get me out! Get me out of this mess! I will get revenge! I will- and immediatly took it off. What is this thing? he thought with a shiver. but a small part of him told him to put it back on. So he did. And it all rolled down hill from then on.
Peacemaker was sucked into a void. "Where am I?" Peacemaker screamed. "Moon, Kinkajou?" He stared around. Darkness loomed from top to bottom. But he noticed a giant talons, and he looked up. A giagantic dragon was staring at him.
"GET ME OUT!!!" He shouted at the other dragon, quivering with fear. But he only chuckled. "So, this is who Kinkajou turned me into." He pinned Peacemaker down with his gaze.
"Wha-what do you mean? Wh-who are you?"
"I, am Darkstalker. You... you are me too."
Peacemaker couldn't move. He couldn't think. He couldn't speak. He was too shocked. He finally blinked, and he was back in the air, flying towards the orchards. But- Moon and Kinkajou was staring at him weirdly. He tried to open his mouth to say something, but he couldn't. He couldn't move a single muscle. HELP! He screamed in his mind. He finally opened his mouth, but instead of screaming for help, out came a cold voice saying, "Moon. Kinkajou. I'm warning you, free me now! Or I will rip this dragonet to shreads..."
Chapter 2[]
Darkstalker
Finally, he could take control of the dragonet he'd become! He didn't want to rip himself apart, since it's the only thing keeping him alive. And he couldn't escape this body, since his powers were gone. "I shall get my revenge..."
"Darkstalker?" Moon said, backing away. "But-"
She turned to Kinkajou. "I thought- I thought you said it would keep him away forever!"
He snorted. "You kept me and my powers away, but luckily, little Peacemaker put on Qibli's earrings and freed me from my trap. At least, now I can control your little creation." He flexed his talons. "Look how your friend's little earring's intentions backfired so quickly."
He still heard Peacemaker's voice screaming in his head, but he shook it off. All he had to do was ignore him. All he had to do was torture him, until he became his full self again. If that's even possible. a small part of him thought. GET OUTTTTTTT!!! screamed the voice inside his head, so loud, that it echoed over and over again in his skull.
"Let Peacemaker go!" Moon said, clutching her head. "We won't let you roam around in his body like that!"
"You think I would just let him go like that?" He chuckled, and Peacemaker groaned, apparently giving up. That's for the better. Darkstalker thought, enjoying the new silence in his head. Or more specifically, Peacemaker's head.
Darkstalker suddenly felt something push against him, and he whirled around. There was nothing. Only the wind rushing by, whispering about how weird he was. But he still felt the push. He realized it was from inside his head. Ugh, PEACEMAKER!!! But he felt like he was being pushed away from the body. His arm unwillingly slowly reached for the earring, no matter how Darkstalker tried to push it away. He tried to use his other arm to slap it away, but it didn't work. Moon smiled, and Kinkajou whispered, "Great job, Peacemaker." Or at least, it sounded like a whisper. He couldn't hear the winds whooshing, not a single sound. He suddenly felt like he detatched from Peacemaker's body, and floated behind him, without flapping wings. He looked down, but saw nothing. He could feel a body, but can't see it. Am I a ghost? Is this how it feels to be dead?
Everything was blurred, but he didn't know why. He floated around, watching Peacemaker pick fruits from the orchards. Everything suddenly came into focus, and he could see himself again. But somehow, he didn't feel like he was... alive. For one thing, he shouldn't be free from Peacemaker so quickly. Also, wouldn't Moon and Kinkajou react if they saw him prowling around? He decided to walk up and try to speak to Peacemaker. "Ahem." He cleared his throat. Peacemaker jumped, and whirled around. "You again!" he snarled, which didn't fit the personality Kinkajou supposedly made for him. Moon and Kinkajou didn't react, which was strange. Even if they can't see him, they should hear Peacemaker speak. "Haven't you had enough? You took over my body and that was horrible! I told Moon all about you, so watch out! She would definently see a giant dragon walking around."
"Actually," Darkstalker said slyly, "I think you're the only one who can see me."
Chapter 3[]
Peacemaker
Peacemaker was confused. I'm the only one who can see him? What does he mean? Surely they would catch him in the orchards, his big honking body would surely block out the sunlight. He was staring around, and he shut his eyes. When he opened them again, he found himself laying down on a moss bed, with RainWing staring at him. He sat up, and stared around. Everything came into focus, and he discovered that he was in the RainWing healing pavilion. Maybe this is all a dream. Maybe, it was just my imagination. But it felt awfully real though.
