Prologue[]

Elk rushed into a cave. He felt something was wrong. The feeling crawled in him like a spider slowly creeping on a wall. But upon getting there, he noticed it. One of his eggs was gone, simply disappeared from the nest.

"Where is it?" the IceWing yowled, frantically looking everywhere,

"Where is it?" 'It's gone,' he thought 'gone forever.' When they calmed down, they noticed footsteps in the snow. Something, Someone stole his egg right the night it would hatch. He was furious and decided to follow in the footsteps to search for his egg. 'I shouldn't have done this. I shouldn't have left my eggs uncovered in a cave. Why do I have to be so stupid!' thoughts came to his head as he ran, but then...

"They flew away!" he cried seeing that the trail has stopped abruptly.

"If I ever get those dragons I swear I will shatter their eggs as they did to me." He cried out as loud as he could, making the animals near him run away in fright. Tears rolled down the blue IceWing's face as he was going back, staring at his white claws blending in the snow still whispering to himself about his stupidity. Upon coming back, he looked back at the other egg he completely forgot existed. It started moving abruptly as if it were about to hatch. He walked beside it, then laid down and watched as a tiny grey dragonet was trying to get out of the egg. When it got out, most of the time cold IceWing felt warmth from his whole body. He smiled at the tiny dragonet that squeaked at him. The dragonet tried to walk to Elk, getting tiny shards of ice stuck in between their claws. Elk chuckled, looking at them.

"You're a tiny little dragonet, aren't you? I know how to name you, Shard." he smiled at the small female who squeaked back. Shard smiled at him, but he stared at the cold icy plains. Then, it hit him like a comet.

"When the times are dark and eggs are stolen,

When crowns are unfair and hearts are broken.

They will come as the force that's strong,

Don't forget, their words are wrong.

Make a group with the ones you know,

And search under the mountains below"

He stopped staring, the words felt almost written in his mind. He shook, not knowing really what happened, and touched the necklace he wore all the time. Did I just... Was I just... Mind-controlled? Or what? all those questions in his mind were unanswered, and Shard beside him just looked at him in confusion. He figured it out with the strange thing still hot in his mind.

"I think... it was a prophecy!" His eyes gleamed as he leaped to the scroll the dragons left untouched, writing it down quickly.

Chapter 1[]

Crimson woke up. Yes, it was the middle of the night but he seriously wanted to see something. He ran to the most open place in their cave, where he wanted to stargaze. Upon running there, the SkyWing smiled seeing that there wasn't a single cloud in the sky. He desperately wanted to fly outside, but every dragonet knew that there was an animus barrier.

"Stupid animus." He hissed to himself. he didn't like the idea of some dragon being very powerful. Especially because SkyWings were one of the tribes that didn't have animus magic. So he just sat there, letting his dark copper scales bask in the moonlight.

"What are you doing?" he heard a voice behind him. He jumped, prepared to breathe his fire on any dragon that decided to scare him so much. Then, he saw the speaker. It was Quickeye, a dragonet around the same age as him.

"Were you like... scared?" she giggled.

"Surprised, you wanted to say surprised" he smirked and corrected her.

"No, I didn't. Oh by the way, what are you staring at?" she smiled at him. Her dark blue scales with a hint of blue were glimmering in the moonlight, just like his. And so he started explaining about his "hobby" of stargazing.

"Wow... I didn't know you liked it" the NightWing-RainWing looked at him. She was almost a NightWing except for her frill, and of course, her teardrop scale next to her eye. It seemed almost unnatural to him that a hybrid could have actual NightWing and RainWing powers. Well, kind of. Quickeyes could camouflage her scales, but it seemed hard for her, and she could sleep for many days after a single change of scales. the easiest part for her scales to change was the scale on her jaw. Many dragons could determine what she was feeling based on a single scale, which he was amazed by and jealous of. He was the hero of their group, and Crimson was sure about that, but also he seemed to be born with the most boring abilities for a hero. Quickeyes has fire, camouflage even though partially, and mind-reading powers. It seemed quite unfair, and he knew any other dragon would say 'But shouldn't Quickeyes be the hero then?' In his mind, the answer was absolutely not. Well, she could, but she was too quiet to be one. Every single of his friends lacked a hero skill, except for him.

"Crimson?" Quickeyes' voice snapped him out of his thoughts. He gave her an apologetic look and twitched his head to the entrance, possibly she could understand it as a "Sorry lost in my thoughts, and I kinda want to be alone for a bit." So, she left, and now it was only him. So as usual, he looked at the two full moons in the sky.

They are so near me, yet so far... he thought sadly. For a while, he wondered whether he should bring one of their crew together to experience the miracle of the night sky. Maybe bringing Bronze, his MudWing friend, or maybe Cloudywing the SilkWing. He stopped, smiling whenever hearing his name. Cloudywing the wingless dragon. It seemed interesting that their friend would be the only wingless one. Yes, he didn't undergo his metamorphosis yet but it felt funny saying it. He could easily imagine his light blue scales and deep blue eyes. When an hour passed, he decided to go back to sleep. Instead of walking, he decided to fly so he'd be quieter. The cave passages were quite small and barely enough for a six-year-old dragonet to fly through. After a while, he fell asleep.

Suddenly he felt someone nudging him. Opening his eyes, he saw the bright blue scales that could be nobody's but Cloydywing's

"Cloudywings! Why did you wake me up so-" Crimson started talking loudly, only stopped when Cloudywing pounced on his snout, closing it shut.

"Shut your mouth you stupid dragon" he growled, trying to not claw him and also keeping his mouth shut. They battled for a while, but when the SilkWing got all his weight on him, pinning him down. Copper hissed, steam rising from his nostrils which made Cloudywings cough and he let him go.

"What was that for?" The SkyWing hissed, staring at the SilkWing. He stretched his wings, flapping them a few times.

"Shush! You need to stay low and quiet" Cloudywing hissed back, and then started coughing, trying to get the steam out of his lungs. "I am trying to show you something but you aren't letting me"

"W-What's the problem?" a light green dragon murmured, opening her eyes. She was clearly an IceWing, maybe four to five years old.

"Nothing, Mint, just some problems in the nursery." Cloudywing smiled at the dragonet, then a moment later glared at Crimson. He sighed, nodding when Mint looked at him with her deep blue eyes. She finally fell asleep, and Crimson could swear he heard Cloudywing exhale deeply as if he was holding all the air inside of himself.

"So where's the adventure?" Crimson whispered, but only saw a flash of blue scales that ran away. He quickly followed the dragon seemingly without noise. Seconds later, he crashed into Cloudywing who suddenly stopped.

"Why haven't you stopped?" the blue dragon shook his head, getting up, but didn't help Crimson which he thought of as disrespectful.

"Well? What's going on... oh sure I don't need your help you spine-" Crimson stopped himself, getting up himself.

"What? A spineless what?" Cloudywings said, looking calm but the tone in his voice said something else. 'I understand why he is enraged, the spineless lizard' Crimson thought.
