8 is a non-binary SilkWing currently hiding somewhere in the hives of Pantala. They are a member of the Chrysalis and help transport messages quickly between the Hives as well as gather information.

Description[]
8 has described themself as being a perfectly average SilkWing. Their scales are a soft, slightly warm gray color with red specks and black stripes trailing down their body and legs. The scales around their golden eyes are pure black, giving them the appearance of wearing a mask. Their primary wings are vibrant red edged with black and white stripes, and their secondary wings have an unusual black and white warping pattern that forms a shape similar to the number eight in the middle. These patterns are what gave 8 inspiration for their new name. They have pearly white claws and horns, but the spikes along their back are black.
As a NightWing, they had black scales and yellow eyes.
Personality[]
8 was fearful of living on the NightWing Island after they learned that the queen was planning to use their magic for something awful. Although afraid of the NightWing queen, they were confident that they would be able to find the mysterious continent of legend. They are somewhat short-sighted and impulsive as shown with their unintentionally permanent transformation.
After becoming a SilkWing, they found living without animus magic to be liberating. They still kept their few enchanted trinkets in case they were ever needed, but not having to worry about their magic was like a breath of fresh air for them. Despite the oppression of the HiveWings and the threat of Queen Wasp, 8 found that they had a chance to change things, a chance to fight back. On the NightWing Island they felt alone, but now they had allies. They could help the Chrysalis and the Chrysalis could help them too.
They accepted their new life as a SilkWing with open wings.
Biography[]
8 was originally an animus NightWing hatched and raised on the NightWing Volcanic Island. They eventually fled the island and flew west, following the trail of a myth about a certain 'lost' continent. They hopped from island to island using an enchanted compass that would guide them to the continent.
When they finally reached Pantala they curiously explored around the new biomes until they came across a strange unnatural structure towering into the sky. Upon further inspection, they saw all of the strange four-winged dragons inhabiting the place, and they decided to make a disguise for themself to blend in while they explored. They enchanted their own scales to fully transform into a 'perfectly average SilkWing' whose appearance would look like a peculiar butterfly they saw while exploring. With their new appearance they entered the hive.
For a short while they snuck around, overhearing conversations between HiveWings and SilkWings about their current situations, learning that the SilkWings were apparently second-class citizens in their society. 8 Also learned that they were currently in the Jewel Hive, which was thankfully one of the most lenient Hives in terms of the disparity between Silk and HiveWings. Despite this, they're eventually stopped by a HiveWing guard at one of the silk bridges, asking for their identification and questioning their bizarre appearance.
After being threatened for supposedly removing the metal cuff that all SilkWings wore, 8 fled used a pair of rings that split themself into shadows. They ran from Jewel Hive and hid under the sparse trees of the plains where they tried to use their magic to revert to a NightWing.
Unfortunately, their new SilkWing form didn't have animus magic. Because they enchanted their own scales, rather than an object or accessory that they could take off, the enchantment was effectively permanent.

The Chrysalis[]
8 is motivated to help the Chrysalis' cause and wants to overthrow Queen Wasp and liberate the SilkWIngs.
After sneaking back into Jewel Hive, 8 came across a message hidden in the Salvation Statue and later met up with a few members of the Jewel Hive Chrysalis. One member recalled seeing 8 'vanish' from the scene where they were going to be detained and suggested that whatever supernatural power they have could be of great use to the Chrysalis. 8 agreed to help the Chrysalis by carrying messages between the Hives, as well as gathering information by spying. They have not disclosed the exact nature of their 'vanishing' ability to the other members.

Trivia[]
- 8 is based on the Anna's 88 butterfly.
- 8 specifically writes their name with the numeral 8 rather than spelling it out as 'Eight' and considers only the numeral to apply to them.
- Although 8 doesn't really regret transforming into a SilkWing, they do wish they had given themself flamesilk after learning about it.
- They also regret not keeping their animus magic, but feel safer now that nobody can force them to use their magic anymore.
- 8's NightWing form will never be named.
