The "Freed" Freedom AU is an alternate ending to The Flames of Hope. It is a collaboration between User:Just a fuzzy dragon, MesaTribid, and Draga.
Prologue[]
Dusky closed his eyes as both he and Luna raced back from the vine with the silk. A loud cry of pain came afterwards. Sitting on the throne was a breathing, living walking and talking dragonet. Freedom stared down at her claws. Luna looked shocked. And Dusky…was very confused.
Freedom moved her talons and grinned.
"How is this possible‽" Freedom said happily. She was breathing heavily.
"I don't know," Luna replied. "Let's go."
Luna picked up Dusky, and Freedom moved the vines from the door away. Luna flew out of the cave, followed by Freedom.
"I told you that they would be okay!" Sky called. "You owe me 5 turtles!"
"Wait, why did I agree with this bet?" Wren asked him.
Freedom landed by Luna.
"Who's that?" Sky pointed to Freedom.
"This…is Freedom."
"It's kind of a long story…" Freedom said, who was still looking at her body. She seemed amazed that it had happened. She lived. She was alive.
The four flew out of the Abyss and found the rest outside. All of the mind-controlled dragons were freed. The world was normal. Everything was as it should be.
"Cricket!" Luna called happily.
"Luna!" The HiveWing called in reply. She stopped abruptly and stared at Freedom.
"I'm Freedom,” the newly freed dragonet said. Cricket nodded, looking over at Freedom.
"Let's go,” Luna said.
Chapter One[]
5 years later…
Freedom now had a life, a real dragon life. After the plant died, Freedom was given a chance to live freely. Luna and Swordtail found her own parent, who turned out to be (Luna's?) great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandparent's sibling named Maple, who agreed to help take care Freedom. She was a LeafWing-HiveWing-SilkWing hybrid.
You WILL be mine… whispered a sharp of the forgotten plant in her mind.
Freedom growled. That voice… She hadn't heard that voice since…
"Freedom!" Maple’s warm voice called.
"I’m coming!" Freedom said.
Do NOT ignore me. You will be mine soon, and I will regain control of this continent.
"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!” Freedom gripped her head.
You’re mine, Lizard.
"Everything ok? I heard screaming," Maple said to her.
"I'm fine," Freedom lied.
Maple walked into the room and looked into her eyes.
"It's the voice, isn't it," they accused.
"Yes. It…it's back," she answered, bitter and annoyed.
They waved their talon. "Come downstairs! We can talk about it over breakfast."
Freedom walked down the stairs, worried.
"What are you worried about?" Maple ate a pancake.
"Well…the voice has been speaking more often now, and…it feels like something…something is in my brain…controlling me. Or, at least, trying," Freedom said as she got another strawberry.
Maple looked at their plate pensively. "Well…I can't think of any solutions right now, but I'll try and find one," they said as they got up and walked out of the kitchen. Freedom looked out of the window. How is the Breath still alive? She wondered. It can’t win. If it does.. She looked at Maple. I’ll lose everything I love. She sighed, the plant's voice chanting in her mind. Could Cottonmouth be alive? But how?
She stared and ate the rest of her meal before getting up. Freedom went to her room again. She started to get ready for school. It was her first day of Jade Mountain Academy. She was nervous. But her friend, Dusky would be there, along with screaming Bumblebee (who Freedom found to be annoying).
"Ready?" Maple said.
"I was born ready!" Freedom joked, knowing that she was born in the middle of the Scorching.
"Freedom, be care," said Maple.
"Maple," groaned Freedom, "i took care of myself with a old man!"
Maple just simply smiled. "I know. I was just teasing you!"
Freedom rolled her eyes
