"End of Worlds"[]

~Prologue~[]

Thirteen years ago[]

Two double-winged yellow dragons were arguing. Again.

“Ha! Tell me another joke of Wasp! A dragonet! No! I love HiveWing jokes!” The eldest of the yellow dragons cackled sarcastically. The other dragon scrunched his snout in annoyance.

“My lady, Lady Scarab, it is true, I saw the egg myself!” The        messenger cried desperately.

Lady Scarab just laughed nastily. “What color is it? Is it male? Who is the father, LIAR!” She screamed. “TELL ME! VENOM, YOU LYING PIECE OF DUST!”

Venom shook his wings, his black red eyes fixed on Scarab’s. He was mostly black, with stripes of yellow every five inches. “Golden, male, and Malachite. “ He said calmly.

Lady Scarab turned and laughed again then stopped abruptly. “What did you say?” She hissed.

“The dragonet’s egg is golden, he is a male and his father is Malachite.“ Venom repeated  disgustedly.

Scarab swiveled her head, facing Venom’s red eyes. Her tongue flicked in and out repeatedly. “SAY IT AGAIN YOU LYING BAG OF BONES! TELL ME THE TRUTH!” Scarab shrieked.

“What?! The father is Malachite! Queen Wasp- I- saw it myself!” Venom cried, at the edge of hysteria.

Scarab screamed to the sky. “WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, WASP! WHAT HAVE YOU DOOOONE!” You disgusting lying queen! Scarab thought, poisonly. “What gender?” She added after a moment, letting her anger out.

“M-male….?” Venom said hesitantly, afraid of being clobbered with Lady Scarab’s tail.

Scarab froze. “Oh Wasp, you’re going to be queen forever, aren’t you?” She whispered.

“My lady….?” Venom said. “Would you like m-”

“You are excused. “ Scarab interrupted. For now. I’m calling you back for more information, Venom. She thought.

         Venom scurried away, frantically.

Scarab sat down and put two talons on her temple. “What have you done, Wasp?”

The towering shape of a HiveWing was in the hatchery. Alone. With one egg. The golden color of the egg shell glowed like fire.

The HiveWing was bright lemon yellow with stripes of night black from her grand descendant, Clearsight. Her long dragonfly wings were beautiful iridescent silver, and her eyes were dark blue. And upon her head, was a delicate silk crown that glowed like the sun. It was Queen Wasp. Her majestic presence in the wingeries and hatcheries were a frequent visit, each new egg, a new royal visit. And while she is there, no one is allowed inside.

The Queen picked up the egg gracefully, and examined it. She tapped one talon on the top of the egg harmlessly and set it down. She swept up some egg shell and set it in one of her silk pouches around her neck. Her tail went up like a scorpion, as if to stab the dragonet inside.

But a knock on the door made her tail fall down, and her majestic face turned into a genuine snarl.

She opened the door and started talking, “The hatchery and wingery is closed for my inspection, insolent visi-” She stopped abruptly. A shaken black yellow dragon stood in front of her. It was her most trusted messenger, Venom. She sighed. “Venom, you know I need to do this. “

“Yes your Majesty, I told all, the Ladies, and yes I know. Goodbye. “ Venom declared solemnly. Wasp blinked.

“Alright. “ And Queen Wasp closed the door again. She sat next to the egg. I could so easily poison my son.. But I want him to have a free will. He’s my son! But I could so easily stab him...But when he awakens, he goes blank...Wasp closed her eyes and pressed her claws to her eyes and sighed.

Crack. Crinkle. “It’s nothing. “ She said out loud. Crack. “Nothing!” She repeated. Crack. “Wrrble. “ Wasp was forced to open her eyes. And in the broken eggshell was a tiny little dragon, scales the color of spun gold, amber horns and forehead, and fire colored iridescent wings. “Wrrble mrrb. “The dragonet cooed.

Wasp looked at her tail, then got a burst of fresh panic. It’s too late! I can’t! I can, but it'll hurt! She hugged him tightly. No matter. We have each other. “I’ll call you Yellowjacket. “ She whispered. “Oh! Your scales, they’re a combination of mine and Malachite’s!” Wasp gasped.

“Skeak!” Yellowjacket squeaked. Wasp hugged her prince again. Tighter.

It’s today! Today! Secret thought frantically. She beat her gold pink wings harder. Finally, she landed in front of the SilkWing hatchery.

Secret pushed her way through the crowd, and found her purple and green eggs. A starburst crack already bloomed on the top of her first egg she got with Fireblaster. She wished she could share this moment with him. She could with Farrell, but he was the wrong father.

Secret thumped her sunflower yellow tail on the ground. Any time now! She thought. Hurry up! Heliconia is going to kill me if I’m late!

Crack! A purple blue head popped out. Then an emerald green followed. Beautiful. Like an amethyst. That’s it! Amethyst! “Amethyst and Emerald. Perfect. “ Secret said. Her eyes fell to Amethyst’s glowing wrists. No! Could FireBlaster be…?! Secret thought frantically.

Secret picked up her wingless dragonets, and took off in the sky, towards Bloodworm Hive, their home. Their lives would be perfect.   Completely.

A forest green dragon was hiding in the grass, dangerously near BloodWorm hive. She clutched her lime green dragonet closely. Watching a yellow pink dragon fly frantically by, she thought, Her dragonet, one, might change the world for us.

She slithered past and took off into Wasp Hive. Large blue leaves were glued to her wings, and her dragonet’s.

And only one dragon was watching. With pearl white eyes. And he had one thought. LeafWings. Malachite beat his orange red wings towards the throne room, stealthily following the green dragons. LeafWings. And the dangerous tree tribe was probably planning a re-war in his mind.

~A Reign of Control~

~Chapter One~[]

Thirteen years later

Amethyst hated her new hive. Everywhere she looked, Queen Wasp. Why did she have to be living in Wasp Hive, of all Hives? Why couldn’t she stay at BloodWorm Hive? She couldn’t see why her naive sister Emerald got to go to Jewel Hive and have fun and  be fancy and beautiful!

Her mother, Secret, said she would make friends. Ha! Then she’d have to keep her secret from them, if she couldn't trust them. That was different once she had met Silvermoth and Moonwing.

Three weeks ago, Amethyst met a shy light purple and silver SilkWing in the marketplace, when she was going to buy her mother some honey drops, at ‘Bombardier’s Best Treats’. They quickly became friends, and Silvermoth introduced her to her sister, Moonwing. It was easy to tell the two dragons were sisters, for they both had glimmering white scales. Moonwing kind of outshone her sister with her bright blue morpho wings, lightning patterns and moon marks. She had bright blue markings on the side of her neck, cheeks, and legs, with navy spikes that you could think are black. The rest of her body was snow white.

Silvermoth was a nicer version of her twin’s loud colors. Her white shimmered in the sun, and she had quiet sparkly purple. Her wings were white, with stripes of light blue. Amethyst knew they would be her best friends.

Amethyst was a light morpho blue and lavender SilkWing, with a gray underbelly and eyes. She had her wings and silk, and she always annoyed her mother by asking about her Metamorphosis. Oddly, there was a big blank in her mind, after she turned six years old, and started her Metamorphosis. But after she turned twelve years old, Secret apparently had enough.

“You never attended the Cocoon. You never got inspected while growing your wings!” Secret had blurted out quietly. Secret had been afraid their house was bugged, and the HiveWings were listening. “You aren’t a normal SilkWing, Amethyst! You’re a flamesilk!” Her mother whispered.

That explained the glowing embers ender her scales, her mother’s scoldings to not use silk in the house or in public. Amethyst had jumped up, but Secret had swat her in the snout with her still agile yellow tail.

Secret had ordered Amethyst to promise never to use her silk, and she swore. Amethyst guessed Secret would hope that ‘Queen’ Wasp would not be suspicious. Her hopes were obviously let down; here they were, at Wasp Hive.

Amethyst had one sibling, and an adopted brother. Her brother’s name was Icebreaker, but in reality he was the wanted SilkWing named Blue. Her other sibling was dramatic and naive Emerald, who got sent to everpretty Jewel Hive instead.

How Blue and Amethyst met was when they had crashed into her bedroom wall, and needed a place to hide. Amethyst offered her home, and Secret was fine with that. Except the fact that wanted fugitives were living in her house that instant. Amethyst promised never to slip that Blue, and Cricket lived with her. Due to his Metamorphosis, his real color, similar to Amethyst’s, was slowly melting away, revealing a beautiful ice blue. Cricket changed her name to Honeyhopper, disguised her scales, and was Secret’s cuisinier. Icebreaker had explained that they lost two SilkWings and their LeafWing deserted them.

Amethyst kicked her bedroom wall. Icebreaker groaned and opened his eyes. His pale blue scales looked like a cloudy sky, and he had splotches of light orange.

Poor Icebreaker. I bet he misses his purple and bright blue. Amethyst thought sympathetically.

Icebreaker yawned and sat up. He stretched his pale wings and let them get bathed in the sunlight. “Ohhhh…” Icebreaker mumbled. “Amethyst? You up?” Icebreaker asked.

Amethyst rolled her eyes and said, “Yeah, I am, turn around, really. “

Icebreaker rubbed his deep green eyes self consciously. “So, what are we going to do?” He got up and stretched his talons out. He winced as his claws brushed the gland of flamesilk. “Ouch. “ Icebreaker flinched again.

Amethyst grinned and said, “We’re going to ‘Bombardier’s Best Treats’ to get something for me. Did you forget what day it is?” Amethyst teased.

“Uh? What? Oh! Yeah, happy hatching day Amethyst!” Her younger brother cried hastily under her raised eyebrow gaze. “Wait but shouldn’t we ask Mother?” Icebreaker asked, worriedly.

Amethyst laughed and swatted her brother on the arm with her lavender tail. “Relax, Mother said to have the best day ever, yesterday. Just let her sleep. Come on!” She flurried her wings and stepped around the heaping of blankets Icebreaker tossed on the floor.

Icebreaker warily followed her and muttered, “What happened to the Amethyst who hated HiveWings?” under his breath. Amethyst turned to glare at him but her eyes twinkled happily.

“You aren’t going to ruin my big day, got it?” She said affectionately.

“NO! NO NO! Please don’t pounce on me or something!” Icebreaker begged sarcastically. Amethyst poked him on the side.

“Come on, Bombardier’s opens soon. “

Amethyst was fond about Bombardier, he was one of the few HiveWings she was fond of. Bombardier was an elderly red orange HiveWings, who laughed a lot and was nice to SilkWings very much. He never said something mean, and Amethyst knew he was nice on the inside. Cricket-no, Honeyhopper was an exception, because of the whole ‘crashing into the wall and we are wanted’ episode Amethyst was strong friends with the seven year old HiveWing. Amethyst opened the drawer that was in front of both beds. She fastened a gold silk pouch around her neck, and touched it gently with one claw. Jangle jingle. The scales inside made a faint musical note.

Amethyst looked over her shoulder to check on her mother’s door. Closed. Good. She spread her wings with Icebreaker behind her and flew away, towards Wasp Hive’s marketplace where Silvermoth would be waiting for her. But Silvermoth wasn’t alone. Black and yellow scales. SilkWings don’t have black scales! Amethyst gasped. Silvermoth’s companion was a HiveWing. The Prince.
