Hi! A few things to ask before we get to the story. Please do not edit this page and please do not copy this page. Also, if you wish to have a background OC, put it in the comments (Pantalan tribes only, please)! I will update as often as possible and I hope that you enjoy it. Prologue[]

A dragon shrouded in darkness spread her wings. She flapped and rose, her four wings shaky beneath the weight of her precious cargo. She looked around before flying off into the savannah, but missed something… Her ears pricked as four extra wingbeats combined with hers. She turned around and hissed, teeth bared, only to find… nothing. She snorted and continued.

It wasn’t long before the wingbeats were back. This time, she only called, “who are you?” Only silence answered. Carefully, she continued her flight, twice the speed this time.

The wingbeats, again, returned. The dragon continued, trying to seem unaware of the stalker. Suddenly, she flipped around and hissed at a red-and-black HiveWing. His eyes, even in the moonless night, were gleaming with pure white. “It’s cute of you to try and hide from me, Bullet Ant,” Queen Wasp’s voice cackled through the stranger’s tongue. Bullet Ant raised her head and hissed, “you’ll never stop me.” Queen Wasp rolled her eyes- no, not her eyes- and said, “oh, but will I?” Bullet Ant froze. Vinegaroon Hive was only a few miles away, and was in sight. She couldn’t give up.

She sighed, “oh, all right. I’ll come back to Jewel Hive.” But instead, she pointed her tail at the stranger and shot boiling acid all over them. Her queen screamed in pain, giving Bullet Ant a chance. She rocketed straight at Vinegaroon Hive, so fast she cleared a mile in no time at all. Clearsight! Help me! She pleaded silently, and, feeling her strength restored, she forced herself to go faster and faster, until the dragon she couldn’t be with was in sight. “Sunset! I need you to take it!” She screamed, fighting the darkness gathering in the corners of her eyes. “Take what?” He called back. Bullet Ant decided to take a risk. “Catch!” She yelled, throwing the priceless item at him. He fumbled, but didn’t let it drop. Bullet Ant let out a sigh of relief and allowed her eyes to go white. Queen wasp had taken her.

Chapter 1[]

Honeycomb was a regular HiveWing with regular parents and a regular SilkWing servant. Okay, maybe her servant had taken a VERY strange liking to her. And maybe her parents weren’t actually her real parents. She was an orphan and Darner and Lacewing weren’t her birth parents. But she felt that her real parents were still out there. Waiting for her. Worried about her, wanting to care for her, or even looking for her. She knew they would find her one day. Or she would find them.

She remembered the day she found out that Darner and Lacewing weren’t her parents. She had been about 3 years old. Honeycomb had awoken to the smell of breakfast and dragged herself out of bed. She had walked into the kitchen to the sound of Lacewing’s voice: “We have to tell Honeycomb, Darner. She has to know.” “Lacewing, she’s too young. Shouldn’t we wait another year?” There was a pause. “That’s what you said last year. This is the year that she learns.” Honeycomb couldn’t bear the curiosity any longer. She stepped into the kitchen and said, “learn what?” Darner glared at Lacewing and Honeycomb wondered what it was about. “Honeycomb…” Darner started for Lacewing, “sweetheart… There's something we need to tell you.” Honeycomb walked to the table and pulled up a chair. “Um… honeybee, this is big. But… you’re adopted.” Honeycomb stumbled and almost fell under the weight of her chair. “W-what?” She stammered. Sunset, her SilkWing servant who was preparing breakfast had finished, but didn’t dare interrupt what was going on.

But Honeycomb was over that now. She had accepted it, and even embraced it. She had always wanted to go on an adventure. And, who knows? Perhaps one day the fact that she was adopted might take her on her own adventure.

Chapter 2[]

Honeycomb awakened wearily one morning, feeling more tired than she had when she went to sleep. She had had the nightmare. Again. She looked down at a scale that was different from the rest. She was a mostly black HiveWing with orange stripes. She knew that Darner wanted to name her Tiger Moth, but they both liked the name Honeycomb, too. But she had one scale just underneath her bottom left wing that was a slight green. Maybe a rare caterpillar green HiveWing?

She sighed and got out of bed. She strolled down the short hallway to find Lacewing and Darner, talking while Sunset, as usual, prepared breakfast and stared at Honeycomb as if she were his long-lost mother. She rolled her eyes at him and helped herself to a cup of coffee before she grabbed her small bag and headed off to the library for work.

Vinegaroon Hive was peaceful this early in the morning. Honeycomb continued down the streets. She passed a pair of SilkWing dragonets, one red and one purple, playing ball. The ball slipped out of one of their talons and hit Honeycomb’s foot. The red dragonet ran after it, only to look up and see her. “Oh! I’m very, very sorry, Miss! Please don’t tell Lady Vinegaroon!” Honeycomb saw small tears form in both dragonets’ eyes. She smiled sympathetically and handed them the ball. “I won’t tell,” she said and smiled. The SilkWings returned the smile and continued their game.

Honeycomb arrived at the library, already buzzing with studying college students and dragonets gathered for storytime. She walked to the front desk and grabbed a cart with many books on it. Honeycomb loved books. She had dreamed of having this as a job since she was a 6-year-old dragonet. She pushed the cart to a shelf and started to put books away.

About an hour later, she had to read to the younger dragonets. They squealed  in excitement as she brought out a thin book, and flipped to the first page.

Hours later, the sun was slipping in the sky and Honeycomb started to pack her bag. She felt a talon rest on her shoulder, and she turned to see Carpenter, her boss, and possibly her least favorite dragon in all of Pantala. “Here’s your payment for the day,” he murmured and passed her a check. Honeycomb scanned over it. “This is only half of my payment for the day,” she said. Carpenter shrugged and said, “money’s tight.” Honeycomb’s wings flared slightly, but she knew better than to yell at him. She murmured, “better than nothing, I guess.” She turned back to her things, when suddenly Carpenter’s voice, but eerily not his voice, said, “Find the rebels. Make them suffer.
