Sunup
“[…] and I knew exactly what to do. But to be honest, I had no idea what I was doing.”
------- Sunup, to Aurora; about a random project.
Sunup is a female SilkWing dragonet and is the main protagonist in Silver Lining. She’s a flamesilk and the half-sister to Sundown. She currently holds a close friendship with Droplet.
Description[]
Sunup has an ombre body color which fades dark silver-blue, to light silver-blue, to crimson near to the tip of the tail, like a crisp sunrise on a beach. Her eyes are pale red and has light red antennae. Before her metamorphosis, her wings were dappled with dark-grey blue to light silver-blue.
After her wings grew, they were as beautiful as the morning sky, having dark, silver-blue wings and shaded with white and silver-blue, like clouds.
Personality[]
Sunup was pretty much the same for all her life, except when she was younger, in which she calls herself a brat. When she was only a few months old, she was very bratty because she was only a little more spoiled than her half-sister, Sundown, was.
Sunup always called herself calm because she really wasn’t the type of dragon to go out and talk to millions of dragons a day and do it tomorrow. Even so, she still liked to go to school just to hang out with her sib and friends. Her sister likes to call her ‘boring’ and ‘too chill’ for her liking, in which Sunup calls it a compliment.
She’s a bit self-centered and rather share things with her friends rather than her own sister. And in her mind, she’d rather do that because Sundown would always annoy her and touch everything she has as if it’s also hers, which Sunup finds extremely irritating. Other than that, she can get pretty emotional when she’s already upset by something or someone. And when she is, she’d rather be left alone by herself so she can handle her thoughts rather than her mind being cramped full of, “It’s going to be okay,” and, “everything’s alright”.
But she supports anyone and loves to cheer someone on. Sunup is obsessed with shipping someone, but keeps it personal because she knows it’s annoying, due to her sister doing it sometimes with random dragons. Other than that, Sunup is honestly realistic and kind, and can relate to some dragons.
Biography[]
Deserted[]
When Sunup was caught by some NightWing guards. When Desert saw Sunup, they thought Sunup looked rather frustrated than sad that Sundown tried to save her, which made Desert laugh.
Silver’s Fate[]
A light red and dark blue egg shaded with white was shown in the epilogue after centuries past when Silver suddenly disappeared.
Silver Lining[]
Sunup is the main protagonist in the book, seeing some things are going unexpectedly after the whole ‘prophecy’, which Sunup didn’t believe. The more she thought, the more she thought there must be some other way to stop the war --- then she discovered that the plan was simple; to go into war.
Relationship[]
Sunup[]
Sunup loves Sundown with all her heart, even though she gets into arguments. But she thinks it’s just part of a normal sibling relationship. When they were young, the two used to play a game called Freezing Boa, which was basically freeze tag, mentioned in Peace of Mind.
Surprisingly enough, Sundown knows a lot of things about her, and so did Sunup --- even if they didn’t always agree on the same thing. Sunup once hit Sundown in the face one time, which she feels horribly guilty for, and hates to ever explain why. Yet, the two still roast other dragons and tease each other.
Aurora[]
Sunup and Aurora are best friends. Sunup likes to compliment Aurora’s jewelry, just to have a smile on her best friend’s face. And for Sunup, for dragons who’d always ask her why she’d hang out with someone who’s blind, she’d always reply with a, “Does it matter what they look like? Or what they wear? Or what they sound like? If you’re want an actual dragon to trust you, speak honestly to them if you must! Speak up, and frankly, sure, maybe being blind is tough, but they sure don’t need another problem struggling to have friends.” Which Sunup only had to say, at least once, before dragons stopped asking.
Foxton[]
Sunup and Foxton aren’t exactly the best together, but the two do have conversations. Foxton sees Sunup as, “A weird but calm dragon that has completely different colors,” than what Foxton has.
Foxton doesn’t really like to Sunup because she prefers someone that can talk a little more and that she can completely relate to, although Sunup sees that as extremely picky and self-centered.
Pyrite[]
Sunup hates Pyrite for everything that she has done for the dragonets and is happy that she vanished. Sunup believes Pyrite is dead.
Trivia[]
- Sunup was going to be a boy, but then I thought, But I know nothing about boys?
- Sunup has more fire than her sibling, even though they weren’t hatched in the same egg.
- A small detail about Sunup is that the reason she thought the war prophecy was off was not because it was ‘fake’, but actually because she has a bit of a future reading ability thanks to Clearsight, in which I’m going to say it’s extremely rare to ever find that --- so, semi-canon, I suppose?
- Sunup gets mistaken for a Silk-Night hybrid, though she’s only distantly related to Clearsight and an unknown SkyWing from her great-great-great grandparent.
