Question, does there have to be a palette, or does it just have to be colored?
@PrincessSharpThrustOfTheThornWings You must use the colors on either of the two palettes for this seasons event, located on the main thread! I hope that clears up any questions
Female - she, her - Heir - Fieri - Sky/night hybrid
Fieri means proud in Romanian, it also apparently means done in Latin which I did not intend.
Fieri sat on her throne of fake vines. The Bunker was a small town she ruled, right in the middle of the sky kingdom. Why do I even bother sitting here? I’m 12 at last I can challenge for the throne of the skywings according to their law! And Queen Cumulus is old. After I have the skywings throne I will challenge the nightwing queen as well. I am Cumulus’s niece and Nightseacher’s cousin. Then it’s settled, I leave for the palace today. “Come with me.” Fieri ordered two of her guards. “We’re going to the sky palace.”
After about a day’s flight, Fieri was stopped by four soldiers guarding the entrance to the palace. “Who are you?” One of the soldiers growled. “I am Fieri, leader of The Bunker, daughter of Prince Coal.” She greeted. “Coal has no dragonets.” One soldier answered. “And your a hybrid. Prince Coal is a loyal soldier.” Fieri was getting irritated. “Listen, I just need to speak with Prince Coal, my own father. You can listen in if You want, I’m his daughter.” Fieri sighed. “Fine.” One of the soldiers said, opening the doors to the palace.
After what felt like a century, the four soldiers stopped at a door and knocked on it. “Prince Coal, there’s some random dragon claiming to be your daughter. Please tell her she’s not so we can get back to doing our job.” One of the soldiers asked angrily. The two doors opened. Fieri saw her father once again, and Coal’s eyes lit up. “Fieri!” He roared in greeting. “It’s been two years!” Fieri replied. “Wait, she wasn’t lying?” One of the soldiers asked, confused. “Of course not, due to her being a hybrid i out her into a foster family so my sister wouldn’t find out, but yes she’s my blood.” Coal growled. The soldiers backed off and walked away.
“So what is it You wanted to speak with me about?” Coal asked. “I’m twelve, father. Cumulus is getting old, one of her daughters will soon challenge, but I want to challenge her today.” Fieri said quickly. “No no, Fieri you can’t. Cumulus… she doesn’t know you exist.” Coal sighed. “Then tell her today. Then I’ll challenge her in the morning. Deal?” Fieri growled. “Deal.” Coal said firmly, walking off, presumably to the throne room to tell Queen Cumulus about Fieri.
Fieri was awoken by Coal waking her up. “Fieri, I told Cumulus.” He said as Fieri sat up. “What did she say?” Fieri asked, still waking up. “She wasn’t happy, but she’s a very forgiving queen. I told her you were six, not twelve so she didn’t think I was only telling her so you could challenge.” Coal admitted. “Well she will clearly see I am twelve when I challenge. So she will know you lied, but once I’m queen I’m sure that can just fade away.” Fieri laughed. Coal guided his daughter to the throne room. “When you challenge her, she will take you to the arena so the whole tribe can watch the battle.” Coal reminded Fieri as she entered the throne room. “Fieri? Coal told me about you, but he didn’t mention you being a hybrid!” Cumulus said shocked, “And you clearly aren’t six.” Fieri walked up to Cumulus. They both knew what Fieri would say next. “I, Fieri, daughter of your brother, Prince Coal, leader of The Bunker and rightful heir to the throne, challenge you for the title of Queen of the Skywings.” Fieri repeated the lines just as her father had showed her.
The next day Fieri stood in the arena. Dragons chanted, mostly for Fieri as the skywings hated her other hikers, even though they didn’t even know Fieri. Ha! Imagine being the queen when your own subjects cheer for your niece that nobody knew even existed! Fieri laughed in her head. Finally, after what felt like a century, Queen Cumulus walked into the arena, and the cheering erupted even louder than before. A mix of “Fieri! Fieri!” And “Cumulus! Cumulus!” Fieri narrowed her eyes. Cumulus knew her time was up. The cheering died down, and the announcer, Sparrow, flew into the arena floor. “Today Princess Fieri is challenging Queen Cumulus for the throne. Fieri is the daughter of Prince Coal and a rightful heir. Claws up, fire ready, FIGHT!” Sparrow said, flying up out of the crossfire.
Fieri charged at Cumulus, slashing her side with massive claws, and biting her leg with string jaws. Cumulus twisted around and flung Fieri off of her, but the motion clearly wasn’t that strong, so Fieri landed a few feet away, and admittedly charged again. This time, she pinned the elderly queen down, growling. Cumulus tried to throw her niece off of her, but it was too late. Fieri slashed open the queen’s jugular, ending her reign over the skywings, and starting an even more corrupt one.
Frostspreader, uses he/him.
Frostspreader glanced around, wondering where the strange dragon Qibi had talked about was. It surely knew that trying its luck anywhere in Pyrrhia was too obvious. In Pyrrhia.....
Qibli must have thought the same thing, because he said, ''We're going to Pantala.'' It was probably strange for him to say such a thing so causally after years of belief that the coninent was unreachable.
''But does this dragon even know where Pantala is?'' asked Chokecherry. The idea was reasonable, but there was something in her eyes that suggested she was hesitant to return to the tribe she was banished from.
On the left is Dawnstar and on the right is Sunfire. They are both girls and both use she/her pronouns. Dawnstar is the deity of the stars and constellations. TW: Death
"Hey Dawn, are you alright?" Sunfire walked over to Dawn, who was sitting on a cliff.
"Yeah. I just miss Àite Dhè," Dawnstar looked over at Sunfire, who came and sat beside her. The Àite Dhè was the place where the gods and deities loved, including Dawnstar
"Well, you can go back anytime. You are a rather important goddess if I do say so myself."
Dawn laughed, "Thanks Sun," She rested her head against Sunfire's shoulder.
"Anytime," She smiled back.
After a few minutes sitting in silence, Dawnstar drifted into a peaceful sleep. When she awoke, Sunfire was gone.
Dawnstar panicked. Where was she?! Dawn looked over the cliff ledge to see if she was simply sitting down there. She saw the dark blues and bright yellows of Sunfire's scales. She flew down to the bottom, "Sun you scared m-" Dawnstar froze, Sunfire was....dead.
Dawnstar instantly brought Sunfire's body to her brother's temple.
"Malum.." She whispered, holding Sunfire.
A dark blue dragon appeared before her, "I'll take her."
Dawnstar looked up, "No. Bring her back."
"No. Go do your job. The stars were not out last night."
Malum snatched Sunfire's body from her talons and disappeared.
5 years later-
Dawnstar was speckling the night sky with glowing stars. She saw a dragon in the distance, flying towards her. That was odd. No god in Àite Dhè ever came near her, except Malum, but he looked different. The dragon got closer and closer, until Dawnstar finally saw it, it was Sunfire. But...how? She died and went to the underworld 5 years ago. 5 years ago, today. Now as the dragon landed, she knew it was her girlfriend. But she did notice something, there was a pentagram, her brother's symbol, burned into Sunfire's head, diagonally above her eye.
"S-Sunfire?"
She grinned, "I'm back."
"I thought you were gone forever. I'm not allowed in the underworld, and souls aren't allowed out. How did you come back?"
"I broke out."
"Why-why would you do that?"
"To come kill you. 5 YEARS! 5 YEARS IN THE UNDERWORLD YOU LEFT ME! I finally see who you really are. And I'm back for revenge."
"No. Sunfire-you know I'm not allowed. I've missed you ever since the day you died."
"LIAR!" Sunfire shrieked. She pulled out a large dagger.....laced with poison.
The end. :)
Shikari - Tribeless - Male
noun - a hunter / a guide on hunting expeditions
*designed to be unnaturally agile/able to see in dark/hyper-heightened senses
*major weaknesses: needs to eat large amounts of food??
"You don't have to let them control you anymore," she said quietly. "You belong to yourself, Shikari. They only have as much power as you give them."
He tipped his head and met her purple eyes. The tall SandWing beside her shifted, and curled his tail protectively around her. Shikari made him nerveous - but he was used to that. He made most dragons nerveous.
"Think about it," Ghost said, coming and gently bumping his snout with hers. He didn't let many dragons that close to him, but Ghost was an exception. She was different from other dragons, but he didn't quite understand why.
Then he was left alone in the moonlight.
...
He walked the cold corridors alone and in contemplative silence.
His shadow flickered in the lamplight as he passed closed door after closed door. In the distance, but becoming louder with every step he took, where the angry voices of dragons.
I want you to be free, Shikari.
"He's being corrupted by outside forces! We have to destroy him before he destroys us!"
"Don't be stupid," Kingfisher's voice said scathingly. "He is completely under our control - we are like his gods! We simply have to remind him of that."
Ususally, Shikari ignored what the other dragons said, but tonight, he saved their words in his mind and put them away in his mind to think about later.
He entered the common room to find a talonful of arguing dragons. It took them almost a full minute to notice him. He could have taken out half of them in that time. He wondered what they fighting about.
Kingfisher pushed his way out of the tangled of wings and tails, and came to tower over Shikari, glaring angrily down at him with his yellow-gold eyes, so similar in colour to Shikari's own.
"Where were you, Shikari? You were ordered to stay inside. If you continue with this behaviour we will be forced to lock you up again."
'You don't have to let them control you anymore.
Kingfisher snaked his head so that his nose was only a claw-length away from Shikari's. Shikari didn't move; didn't back down. He wasn't afriad. Did he even know what fear was? Ghost told him that fear was a protective instinct; but he still couldn't understand.
"You are our weapon, understand? You do nothing - nothing - without our permission," Kingfisher growled, little trails of smoke whispering out of his noise. His eyes were hard and flinty - but also afraid. That strange emotion again.
Shikari didn't say anything. He simply turned and left them to their arguing and black hate.
...
There was blood on his claws. A familiar feeling, and one that reassured him.
"Stand down, Shikari," Kingfisher hissed, gouging his claws into the soft earth. "You have been corrupted by Experiment 23-F! Do not let her unatrual words take root in your mind. You and Bladerunner belong to me, and me alone!"
Shikari blinked once, and took another step forward. Bladerunner was beside Kingfisher, solemn and silent, just like Shikari. There was blood on his talons too, and little cuts and bruises, but neither of them had done anything serious to each other - yet.
Bladerunner. His constant companion and the only other sucessful experiment. But unlike him, Bladerunner didn't understand. He was still just a weapon in Kingfisher's talons, just like Shikari had been.
"You are right," he told Kingfisher. The bigger dragon smiled, and stood up straight.
"You are right," he said again, stronger this time, "but not in the way you think. I was corrupted, once, but not anymore. Not anymore."
Kingfisher hissed again. "Last chance, Shikari."
Shikari lept forward, ducked under Bladerunner's talons and smashed his tail spikes into Kingfisher's chest. Roaring in pain, Kingfisher fell, sprawling, into the mud.
Bladerunner's talons raked his face, but he twisted free and slammed his tail into the other's face. They knew each-other's tactics well, but this time, Shikari had the advantage. The drug he had laced through Bladerunner's food was taken an effect him and his attacks were getting slower.
The fight was quickly over, and Bladerunner hit the ground, unconsious. Shikari stepped over him and toward Kingfisher. The other dragon's eyes flittered from left to right.
"You wouldn't - I'm your GOD!" Kingfisher snarled, his eyes wide and bright in the moonlight.
"I would," Shikari said quietly, "and I will."
...
They sat among pots of succulents and cacti, on the roof of the SandWing's house. It was made of smooth clay, and shaded by a massive, knarled tree that spread thin limbs above their heads.
Ghost and Osiris had made breakfast with the little blue berries that he had traded for. He still didn't really understand why he should 'trade' when he could just take what he wanted, but Ghost told him it was the kinder thing to do and Osiris told him that it was the law.
The table was low, with pretty pieces of constellation-patterend fabric arranged under blue plates. Golden spheres of fruit and flat cakes cooked in the pan sat on the plate in front of him, with a side of little brown squares. His blue berries were scattered artfully across the top.
'Artfully'. Another word Ghost had taught him. He was learning a lot these days. Osiris taught him how the world worked, and Ghost taught him how dragons worked.
He still woke up at night with dreams of blood and tears and pain. He understood now like he hadn't back then, and the feelings that acompanied those dreams hurt. But that was a good thing, Ghost reassured him. Those feelings meant he cared, and to care was to be a dragon.
"What are you thinking about, Shikari?" Ghost asked him, carefully slicing a fruit with her claws. She offered some to Osiris, who took it carefully from her talons with a smile.
"Many things," he replied slowly. "But mostly good things."
Yes, mostly good things. He was happy with them, and they were happy with him. His life had been that of a mindless creature, and she had helped him end that unatrual existence.
"If you don't eat, I'll give your food to Ghost," Osiris told him sternly, but there was something about his eyes that made Shikari think that he was, perhaps, not serious.
Shikari popped a peice of the brown stuff in his mouth, and savoured the sweet, bitter taste. He couldn't yet find the words to tell them all that he felt, but he would one day.
And for now, that was more then enough.
Lobeira and Fleet || RainWing and IceWing
I'm not going to bother introducing myself, as I'm sure you're aware of what has warranted such a letter.
We’ve always kept to ourselves, you have your half, I have mine. The two big evils, they called us.
Even now, I kept off your territory, didn’t engage with the kingdoms that you had dealt with, and this is how you repay me? With his burgundy blood spilled?
He was mine. Maybe you couldn’t be bothered to learn as much about me as I did about you because I at least know who you want dead, or maybe, you just don’t care. Either way, this isn’t a good look for you considering I did hold a good level of respect for the ‘Rain that flooded Pyrrhia’, but dragons change, I see that. Just know this; I never wished to bring you harm.
---
But if bloodshed is what you desire, then bloodshed is what you shall receive.

Lobeira. The name haunts those who hear it. They know what it entails and once they realise what's coming, there's no going back. A threat, and an invisible one for that. And the worst part? The council knows, and they let her run wild every now and then. It’s amazing what some idle threats and some money can do.
But what they don’t realise? That this powerful dragoness was now sitting in her little hideout fuming over the local news. Fleet, the secondary evil, they called this IceWing and now xe was going after her as well? For what? That she didn’t check in with xym before one of her ‘parades’?‘
You couldn’t be bothered to learn about me?’
We’re not all that obsessed with our enemies as you are! She tapped the desk angrily.
Well. What am I supposed to do now? Don’t engage is an option… Bei started to write a quick plan-up but the quill didn’t reach the paper itself. No, too risky. I doubt ae will let this go that easily, it will only lead to even more confrontation. Run?
This time she actually scoffed. “To where, brain? The lost continent from the bedtime stories? Yeah, I’m sure THAT will go SPLENDIDLY.” She sighed sharply. “Talking to myself. This is a new low.”
There were two other options left she supposed. Follow through with the IceWings terms or run to one of her kingdoms. The latter would leave a bad impression. Look at the big bad Lobeira who hides behind a tiny SandWing, wow, impressive. But, the former included confrontation. But don’t they both technically? Bei turned, effectively knocking down the ink in the midst of her- Anger. Anger not panic. She refused to call it that.
The moon was high enough to warrant a double-back from the dragoness. I’ll figure this out tomorrow. After all, your decision making skills deteriorate when you’re half asleep- She shook her head sarcastically before making one last glance at the message.
I really hope you know what you just got yourself into, Fleet.
---
Usually at this time of night the desert plains would be bustling with the SandWing gangs that hung out around here, but Fleet supposed they all decided they wouldn’t be welcome. Not that that wasn’t right, but a little excuse to warm up could’ve been nice.
At least the dragoness of the hour wasn’t here yet. Maybe I will have to drag her out by her scruff after all- Xe cocked xyrs head and smiled slightly. That would be an interesting sight indeed, especially for the rest of Pyrrhia, heh. Then I would finally be the primary evil.
Suddenly the air gave off a chill. Xe pricked xyrs ears and twisted around. Some sand shifted in the corner of xyrs vision. Invisibility. Clever. “I’ll admit I’m a teensy bit hurt that you decided that I am as daft as all of those little villages that you terrorise so often. That little trick won’t work on me.” Fleet tried to make xyrs tone playful.
---
But it sounded like it had an edge instead. At least to Lobeira who had decided at this very moment that this was suddenly a horrible, horrible idea. OH WELL, TOO LATE NOW! Her brain barked. What was she supposed to do now? It made sense that xe knew all of her moves but it was still annoying.
Resisting the heavy urge to sigh, Bei let herself fade into her own pale orange scales behind xym.
“Well? You made me mess up my sleep schedule for what?”
“You know exactly what my deal with you is.”“Do I? Do I really? Because I feel like you just wanted a fi-”
“Of course not.” Fleet shook xyrs head and moved away from her. “There's no other way to make you realise that what you did was wrong. I thought you’d of all dragons would understand.”
“Understand what exactly? Because whoopsie I killed a dragon who was somehow important to you? How was I supposed to know? Look into your head like a NightWing?” She snarled at him, and ae snarled right back.
“I worked too long for you to come and just TAKE my revenge for me. No.” Xe laughed, bunching xyrs shoulders, “No, my efforts cannot be in vain.”
“And this is where I come in??” Lobeira twisted her body away from xym. This is crazy. Why did I even think we could work this out without much discourse?
“Yes.” And Fleet gave her a crooked smile. “Let me demonstrate how.”
---
What Lobeira didn’t notice was Fleets talon reaching up for xyrs poisonous herbs in the midst of their conflict. But now she did very much notice that same talon squeezing its contents and chucking it at her. Xe just watched as xyrs opponent blocked with her wing and instantly staggered back at the tickling sensation. “What is that?? What sort of stupid new plant have you been making in your spare time??”Xe threw back xyrs head in a breathy laugh. “Artificial ones. They’re interesting aren’t they? Science is fun to play around with.”Lobeira bared her teeth and tensed as if to go camo. A shame Black Erite affects RainWing scales specifically- “Well, RainWing? What else can you give me?”
---
“Well, RainWing? What else can you give me?”
Enough to make you deeply regret whatever this show is.
Her prehensile gripped a dagger-like rapier and she lunged.
Into the whirlwind of battle.
---
A swipe of a serrated claw
---
A storm of needle-like talons.
---
A widening of eyes. This was not what I was expecting-
---
“You’re going down, IceWing.”
---
“Not if I kill you first.”
---
“Not what I meant.”
And she points toward the quicksand xe had stepped right onto.
---
Xe realised quickly but panic settled in. A fight for xyrs life began.
---
But struggling against liquified sand was useless. She knew that.
---
Xe didn’t.
---
Bloodshed would be received. But a price must always be paid.
---
She was just glad the price wasn’t hers.
What do you think?
