Category changes
I promise we’ll be done with these eventually </3 This season we’re tackling the inconsistent capitalization of our categories! All of this is automatic and no action on your part is required.
“Candidates for deletion” is becoming “Candidates for Deletion”
“Non-Binary” is becoming “Non-binary”
“Work In Progress” is becoming “Work in Progress”

A note on the upcoming coloring book
As you’ve probably heard, Wings of Fire is getting an official coloring book soon. This book is illustrated by Peregrinecella, a member of the WoF community; as far as we’re aware, this is her first book — congratulations!
Our current plan is to delete any images from the coloring book that are uploaded with the intent to share them as bases, or allow people who do not own the book to color them in. Sharing photographs of the book in a “look what just arrived!” manner is fine, but we’d appreciate it if you either didn’t share the inside of the book or only shared low quality photos.
While we recognize it’s impossible to make actually owning a copy of the book before uploading colored-in bases a requirement, this is important to the career of an artist in this community, and presumably a sizable chunk of the money Scholastic makes from selling the book will go to her. As such we ask that you only use and upload these bases if you own a copy of the book.
We’ll be sending out a second note about this right before the book’s release (March 1st, 2022) as an additional reminder.

The Newsletter Archive has been added to the site navigation under the “Community” dropdown
The Character template now has an entry for a character’s status (usually alive or deceased), per this suggestion!

Cool upcoming stuff
You’ve all been asking for it, so here we are: we’ll be holding a tribe contest this November! This contest’s winner will be replacing the MistWings on Pyrrhia, due to the tribe only having 20 members and their owner being inactive. More details will be shared in a future announcement.
We’re currently in the process of rewriting our promotion and demotion systems (promotion system, demotion system) since they have a lot of outdated information. Their updates likely won’t get their own announcement to avoid spamming your notifications, so consider this your heads up that changes are coming.
