Vic's Volumes - July Edition
July arrives to Pyrrhia with all the hallmarks of high summer: a heat as steady as that of a SandWing’s scales. The whole world perks up to enjoy long days of warmth as the afternoon sun beams threads of sunlight down. Playful summer breezes relieve Pyrrhia as they ruffle the pages of the message boards in all the towns and cool one’s scales. A perfect day for a leisurely flight, or for a calmer past-time, reading through the pages of Vic’s Volume’s as they flutter in the welcoming breeze, detailing the latest news and events in the Community of Fire, as told by their carefree leader and traveling writer, Victor.
A mysterious figure, yet casual with a smile, Victor has been usually quick on their paws and in search of further travels as the dragons of Springwood have told us. They have eluded our attempts at finding them ever since their Winter's Oasis' interview, on the prowl for adventure and discovery.
Yet, a few hours ago, we chanced upon Victor relaxing in a patch of open field, enticed into enjoying the weather with a content expression, near Possibility's marketplace. Greeting us with a smile as playful and warm as the day itself as we approached, we asked them for another interview among the sounds of vendors calling out for cheap prices, customers bumping and bustling past each other and dragonets laughing as they tussle in the fields nearby.
With all of us seated, the summer heat pressing down on our brows, Victor settles down with a boundless delight we didn't feel ourselves, ready to relate the news of this latest month.
RP Rules
"I’m sure you already know this," Vic said with an easy smile, "and with all those dragonets and dragons and their adventures, it was bound to happen, but our roleplays have gotten a little spirited lately. A few dragons getting into arguments, a few not following rules," they said before a chuckle, a sound as content as birdsong twiddling through a morning. "It reminds me of those SandWing soldiers I met after they had a day off to themselves, all loud and excited, after they got into the cactus juice...” they said, their eyes sparking with a nostalgic glow before they paused.
"Um, where was I?" they wondered along, almost like they themselves were lost on a trail they set themselves. They snapped their talons, as if it could spark the path they'd lost. "Ah!" they waved a paw, as if to carry on with the topic at hand. "However, to give everyone a chance keep up and have fun, I’ve written a section into the Rules page about it. In addition, one of our helpers has also written a post on it here. It’s not too much of an inconvenience, just a few guidelines to make sure everyone has fun."Personal Templates
"As another bit of housekeeping, quite literally," Vic chuckled at their pun, "I’d like to ask that everyone not create any more personal templates for their pages. While I’m sure all your templates are great, I've had the chance to purview some of them in fact, quite lovely, quite lovely indeed, it makes our wonderful space quite cluttered."
A free spirit in every way, they shook their head, mouth grimacing in a twist, and their wings tensed up at that thought. “I’m afraid that any personal templates made here now would have to be taken to keep our space clean. And I’d hate to think that someone spent time on making one only to have it deleted.”
2.5KB Page Cleanup Reminder
"Ah, ah, ah!" Victor said, blazing into another train of thought after the first, "and in the spirit of clearing out clutter,” Vic said, their eyes brightening with each word that passed, "I would like to give you all another reminder of the August Page Cleanup coming soon!"
"Any page under 2.5KB in size will be deleted soon so that all our lovely creators can get to work on creating new and wonderful projects and that our old projects do not collect dust, unloved and unwarranted. In fact, there was a temple I once discovered that had webs of dust and dirt in it. Ancient artifacts aren't improved with dust and dirt and uncare, I'll tell you all. However," they pause for a moment, thinking of their own works,
"I completely understand the necessity of an artist to have some projects under development and not quite ready yet. And it would be a shame to lose all that hard work." A tear begun to well up in their eye. They sniffled for a moment before wiping it away. "So, to keep all your work safe and sound, I’m sending out another reminder to push all your pages above 2.5KB before the cleanup. I'll give out one last reminder in August, just in case! If you want a reminder on what’s required to make the mark, our New Inactive Character Policy should have everything you need. Or!" they punctuated with a pointed talon, "you can copy your work somewhere else and return to it later! I’d love to see what you come up with!”Pantala Grace Period
"More than rumors about Pantala are flying now!" Vic said, their eyes gleaming to look up, as if they expect a HiveWing to fly over them. "Last time, I asked you all to refrain from talking too much about the Pantalan dragons until there was more information about them." Their face spread into a wide grin, excited at the possibilities. "But now that the rumors are more confirmed, you may feel free to talk about them as much as you like anywhere!"
New Tribe Contest
"And along with the excitement of new tribes in Pantala, there’s excitement back home!” Vic clasped their paws and rubbed them together. “If you recall my last newsletter, I noted a space of land between Springwood and the Sand Kingdom that could possibly host a new tribe. Well, the search for that new tribe is still going strong. So if you want to join the search, there’s still time! Get out there and explore!” They chuckled and made a questioning gesture.
“I wonder what kind of stories they will tell!”Front Page Contest
"Finally, to wrap up with one final piece of excitement, there’s still time to submit to the contest for our new front picture! Our community is going to have a fresh look soon, so for any artists out there who want to join in still, go ahead." They gave a broad grin. “I’d love to see what your ideas are. We’re accepting new designs until within another week (August 3rd)."
Victor finished and paused, staring both at us. "So, are we done here?" A summer breeze started to blow through, the dust and leaves swirling down to new places. They shifted their paws in restlessness. "We are? All right then!" They gave us another cheery smile and spread their wings, free and wide and true in the fields and skies. "Than it seems the breeze is telling me it’s time to get back to flying! New places, new things, new stories!"2020
