Wiki Feedback Polls

Towards the end of February, we revamped our wiki feedback polls. These polls sought to assess user feedback so that the admins can take a fresh look at the wiki and the direction we should take it in the future.

We only had 12 people fill out this survey. If you have not, please check it out!

Most of these twelve had pretty consistent opinions: - they believe the admins are very effective, with slight room for improvement - they are satisfied with our page and infobox formatting - they are also satisfied with our categories and organization - and they were unanimous that are rules are mostly effective

These surveyed were mixed about where they spend their time on the wiki, and they were mixed about whether we should be more welcoming or more helpful towards new users, though only one user reported that our wiki was fully effective with new users.

There were also mixed results about the wiki design, though most seemed to report that they were mostly or totally satisfied.

Spring Cleaning

As many of you know, last June we held a large Short Page Cleanup event. At the time, we had reached 7,500 pages and over 2,068 of them were stub pages.

Right now we're at 7,776 pages with 750 pages that are smaller than 1KB. We are looking into making this cleanout a yearly event, so users aren't taken by surprise when it comes around.

We are growing at a consistent rate of 250 new pages each month, and roughly 32% of new pages that are created never move past a short outline of the page.

As a visual, here are a few examples of pages that are 1KB: Raptor, CalmPetter, Swamp the MudWing.

The Spring Cleaning will take place on May 14. We will release some more information a little bit closer to the date.

Template Cleanout

Overview

Back in February we started cleaning out some of our templates. At the time, I had noticed that new wikis on Fandom start with much fewer templates than our wiki started with, which makes sense.

The days of the older forum, where messages have to be coded is long over, and Fandom has tried to move in a direction where users can do what they need to without using to depend too heavily on specific templates.

When cleaning out our templates, we were targetting personal templates, old or outdated templates, templates not related to our wiki, unused templates, and those deprecated Wikia templates. All in all, we removed 71 Templates from the wiki.

Policy

Please talk with an admin before creating a Template. Templates should be designed for use on several or more pages, such as our character infobox, or complete a task, such as our voting templates.

Personal templates, such as templates for putting on friends' userpages, should not be added to this wiki. If you would like to use them on this wiki, we reccomend using an interwiki template on community central.

Interwiki Templates

Interwiki Templates are templates that are stored on Community Central, but can be used on any wiki. To use them, use this format: {{w:TemplateName}}.
